AND SO, THE NEW GOVERNMENT BEGINS
Let me begin by saying how happy I am to see that Ehud Olmert is finally out. Benjamin Netanyahu is now the prime minister of Israel once again after a decade.
I'm not happy that the cabinet has to consist of as many as 30 ministers, but this apparently had what to do with the greed of these smaller parties, who may be the ones to blame.
And if there's anyone else to blame, I think the National Union is going to have to take some, because their abysmal talents in negotiating coalition agreements has cost them the chance to have a possible ministry. What their leader, Ya'akov Katz, did was to issue an ultimatum to Netanyahu, that either he give them the construction ministry or they wouldn't join. I can see now why Caroline Glick was mad at them - that's no way to maintain coalition negotiations by implying that they won't be reliable coalition partners and making things too hard for the head.
But now, if this info is correct, it looks like the NU hasn't made things any better:
I'd like to think that if they're going to be in the opposition, that they'll learn a lesson for their incompetent strategy in negotiating a coalition deal. But I get the feeling they won't. Nice going there, NU. All you've done is make it sound like you've got nothing more than sour grapes, and for now, you've cost yourselves what could've been a promising role in the government.
Another problem with them, I suppose, is that the NU does not have a clear stance on industry and finance, which, if they were to show some serious talent and a willingness to reach out to people on the issues, might get them more respect. But they haven't ever shown any real talent in that capacity, and that's one more reason why it's hard to credit them.

Also voting against the government was the Ichud Leumi (National Union) party, which stood by its demand that Prime Minister Netanyahu declare a position against the establishment of a new Arab state within Israel’s current borders. As much as I'd like to credit them for demanding the aforementioned position, I get the strange feeling that their vote against approval of the government was less than altruistic. And I don't think they should have done that. What if it resulted in the government falling before it begun? And why do I have my doubts they really want to get rid of a bad government?

REAGAN-FOREVER RELEVANT!
"You and I know and do not believe that life is so dear and peace so sweet as to be purchased at the price of chains and slavery. If nothing in life is worth dying for, when did this begin -- just in the face of this enemy? Or should Moses have told the children of Israel to live in slavery under the pharaohs? Should Christ have refused the cross? Should the patriots at Concord Bridge have thrown down their guns and refused to fire the shot heard 'round the world? The martyrs of history were not fools, and our honored dead who gave their lives to stop the advance of the Nazis didn't die in vain. Where, then, is the road to peace? Well it's a simple answer after all.
"You and I have the courage to say to our enemies, "There is a price we will not pay." "There is a point beyond which they must not advance." And this -- this is the meaning in the phrase of Barry Goldwater's "peace through strength." Winston Churchill said, "The destiny of man is not measured by material computations. When great forces are on the move in the world, we learn we're spirits -- not animals." And he said, "There's something going on in time and space, and beyond time and space, which, whether we like it or not, spells duty."
"You and I have a rendezvous with destiny.
We'll preserve for our children this, the last best hope of man on earth, or we'll sentence them to take the last step into a thousand years of darkness."

JE SUIS L'ETAT!: ARE WE LIVING IN A FASCIST COUNTRY?
When Obama fired Wagoner, he did not do so on the basis of any presidential authority specified in the Constitution.
Obama did it based on his personal power as president of the United States.

CONNECTING THE DOTS: SOROS, OBAMA AND THE CRASH OF '08

HERE ARE THE DOTS:
- INCLUDING HIS CONTRIBUTIONS TO LEFT-WING ADVOCACY GROUPS IN ADDITION TO HIS DIRECT SUPPORT TO THE OBAMA CAMPAIGN, SOROS IS OBAMA'S NUMBER ONE FINANCIAL SUPPORTER.
- THE CURRENT CRISIS BEGAN WITH A CRASH WHICH OCCURRED A FEW WEEKS AFTER MCCAIN TOOK THE LEAD OVER OBAMA - AND AFTER THE CRASH, OBAMA RETOOK THE LEAD AND NEVER LOOKED BACK.
WAS THE CRASH CAUSED FOR POLITICAL REASONS? IT MIGHT HAVE BEEN; IT'S POSSIBLE.
HMMMMMMM...
COULD SOROS BE IMMORAL ENOUGH TO BANKRUPT MILLIONS TO ENRICH HIMSELF AND ELECT A SOCIALIST POTUS?
YES. (HE HELPED THE NAZIS DURING WW2 AND HAS NO REGRETS.)
USA HEALTHCARE IS BETTER THAN EUROPE'S AND CANADA'S
10 Surprising Facts about American Health Care
AND DON'T BE DUPED BY THE STATISTS!
IF IT AIN'T BROKE, THEN DON'T FIX IT!
IF YOU LIKE THE WAY THE RAN FANNIE MAE, THEN YOU'LL LOVE GOVERNMENT HEALTHCARE!
Medical care in the United States is derided as miserable compared to health care systems in the rest of the developed world. Economists, government officials, insurers and academics alike are beating the drum for a far larger government rôle in health care. Much of the public assumes their arguments are sound because the calls for change are so ubiquitous and the topic so complex. However, before turning to government as the solution, some unheralded facts about America's health care system should be considered.EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THESE POINTS IS BACKED UP WITH LINKS/DATA, SO: RTWT.
Fact No. 1: Americans have better survival rates than Europeans for common cancers.
Fact No. 2: Americans have lower cancer mortality rates than Canadians.
Fact No. 3: Americans have better access to treatment for chronic diseases than patients in other developed countries.
Fact No. 4: Americans have better access to preventive cancer screening than Canadians.
Fact No. 5: Lower income Americans are in better health than comparable Canadians.
Fact No. 6: Americans spend less time waiting for care than patients in Canada and the U.K. Canadian and British patients wait about twice as long - sometimes more than a year - to see a specialist, to have elective surgery like hip replacements or to get radiation treatment for cancer.
Fact No. 7: People in countries with more government control of health care are highly dissatisfied and believe reform is needed.
Fact No. 8: Americans are more satisfied with the care they receive than Canadians.
Fact No. 9: Americans have much better access to important new technologies like medical imaging than patients in Canada or the U.K.
Fact No. 10: Americans are responsible for the vast majority of all health care innovations.
AND DON'T BE DUPED BY THE STATISTS!
IF IT AIN'T BROKE, THEN DON'T FIX IT!
IF YOU LIKE THE WAY THE RAN FANNIE MAE, THEN YOU'LL LOVE GOVERNMENT HEALTHCARE!
THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION IS UNIQUELY UNQUALIFIED TO RUN GM, LET ALONE SAVE IT!

Who has more experience running a large enterprise, Obama or Wagoner!?!?!
Wagoner. IT AIN'T EVEN CLOSE.
In fact, the Obama Administration has not one single solitary person in it with ANY executive experience in the private sector.
And the lack of experience is showing.
So is obama's basically anti-business/anti-capitalist attitude.
We need a POTUS who has executive experience and experience turning around large enterprises:
MITT is it!

EVERY TIME OBAMA ANNOUNCES SOME BIG NEW PLAN THE MARKETS TANK!

Obama announced a big GM/Chrysler plan - and fired someone who didn't work for him - AND THE MARKETS WENT DOWN BIGTIME (THE DOW WAS MINUS 254 POINTS TODAY!.)
THIS COST MILLIONS OF AMERICANS BILLIONS OF DOLLARS!

Where is Calvin Coolidge now that we really need him?
The government should just get out of the way!
The government created this crisis with the CRA, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
And Greenspan should have never raised rates - something he did out of fear of inflation! - from 2004-2007.
Obama is making things worse. Higher taxes, more government spending and more regulations and fancy leftist carbon boondoggles will only make things worse.

NY'S TAX INCREASE EPITOMIZES LEFTIST IDIOCY
The Democrat liberals running NY state are increasing INCOME taxes on our biggest EARNERS.
EARNERS - as in they EARN it.
These leftie politicians are doing this because of a projected 16 BILLION dollar shortfall.
At the same time.... (GET THIS!!!!!!): THEY ARE INCREASING SPENDING NEARLY 10%!!!!!
That's right.
But they argue that the increase is "covered" by federal stimulus funds.
SHEESH.
Instead of raising taxes on the leaders of our entrepreneurial and investor class (the folks who drive the economy!), they should use the federal funds to LOWER TAXES FOR EVERYONE!
They don't do this because they really REALLY think they know how to spend our money better than we do.
And because by spending it, they are doping favors for the special interests.
This is why I have come to believe in SMALL GOVERNMENT: the less government does the less they can steal or funnel to their buddies.
Government governs best which governs least.

THE COVETOUS LEFT
The root of leftist populism is covetousness.
And not the "greed" of the upperclass.
This covetousness is most evident with regard to the whole executive pay issue and with the so-called 'growing disparity between rich and poor".
The bottom-line this: BESIDES THE SHAREHOLDERS, it's really none of ANYONE'S business what any given private company pays its executives.
Paying them less will not make me or anybody else richer.
If they are overpaid, then MAYBE their products or shares will be overpriced and their profits reduced.
AGAIN: this matters not one whit to anyone except shareholders.
It is not the federal government's business - nor the business of ANY government - what one person agrees to pay another, (or what one group decides to pay an employee).
AGAIN: unless I'm a shareholder, paying other people less won't put one cent in my pocket.
The JEALOUSY which drives the left is irrational, and the so-called remedies the left prescribes are actually harmful to the general well-being because they decrease overall prosperity and economic growth (which is only spurred by incentives).
So, there's absolutely no upside to their whining - EXCEPT POLITICALLY: the populist politicians who exploit the ignorance and covetousness of the electorate gain in popularity.
The idea that the increasing wealth of the rich comes at the expense of the poor is equally ridiculous - and also rooted in covetousness.
It's the same crap as the old leftist canard that the First World became wealthy by looting the Third World.
FACT: most of the world's top 500 fortunes were made in the last twenty years. And most of the world's most valuable commodities and goods and services didn't even exist twenty years ago - or were not very valuable because they didn't have much use.
Wealth - like prosperity - is something which is created; it doesn't grow on trees; it isn't lying around in everyones backyard. It takes guts, risk, investment and sweat to make money - and to keep it.
If we penalize the people who are good at this we will all suffer.
And not the "greed" of the upperclass.

THE ISLAMIFICATION OF EUROPE: ANOTHER NAIL IN THE COFFIN FOR A BRITISH BRITAIN: BRITAIN'S BEST BISHOP LEAVING POST; AND A WARNING FOR FRANCE
DAILY MAIL/MELANIE PHILLIPS:
THIS IS ANOTHER NAIL IN THE COFFIN FOR CHRISTIAN AND BRITISH BRITAIN.
A WARNING FOR FRANCE HERE.
AND: ARE BOSNIA AND KOSOVO CENTERS OF JIHADOTERROR WITHIN EUROPE?
VIA ROP.
The resignation of Michael Nazir-Ali as Bishop of Rochester is a terrible blow, not just for the Church of England but for Britain.RTWT.
The bishop says he is resigning so that he can work for endangered or beleaguered Christian minorities both abroad and in the UK.
What a shocking rebuke to the church, that he has to leave his post of influence and authority as a bishop in order to carry out the church's core duty to defend its own against attack.
Shocking - but hardly surprising. Across the world, in countries such as Nigeria and Sudan, millions of Christians are being persecuted at the hands of militant Islam, with forced conversions, the burning of churches and widespread violence.
Yet in the face of this global onslaught, the Church of England makes scarcely a peep of protest.
Worse still, when Dr Nazir-Ali warned last year that Islamic extremists had created 'no-go areas' across Britain where non-Muslims faced intimidation, he was disowned by his fellow churchmen who all but declared that he was a liar - even though he was telling the truth.
Courage
For this act of moral courage, he and his family had to be put under police protection, while his own church left him to swing in the wind of bigotry and intimidation.
Dr Nazir-Ali is one of the very few inside the church to make explicit the link between Christian and British values, and to warn publicly that they are being destroyed through the prevailing doctrine of multiculturalism.
That strong voice of protest has never been needed more than it is now.
THIS IS ANOTHER NAIL IN THE COFFIN FOR CHRISTIAN AND BRITISH BRITAIN.
A WARNING FOR FRANCE HERE.

DC COMICS' VERTIGO LINE TO PUBLISH MUSLIM CONVERT'S PROPAGANDA
Or it seems that way. G. Willow Wilson is a Muslim convert who's been doing some writing for DC Comics, including a story called "Air" for Vertigo, and a writer for the Wall Street Journal writes an item about her that alludes to some sob-story/propaganda material of hers:
And the part about X-Men being a favorite may be exaggerated too: In this interview on USA Weekend:
It's just so funny/sad how people like these go so far as to say certain comics are what "inspired" them, yet they take up ideologies that suggest otherwise.
I find the mention of her being a "white" convert rather puzzling too. There are plenty of white Muslims, perhaps more so than black ones, and it seems redundant to bring up the subject of skin color.
If anything, I figure Wilson is one screwed up individual.
A commentor on Comics Should Be Good asked the following question:
Update: I found this old post from a blog called FunnyBookBabylon from last year that tells that Wilson had quite a Muslim audience at a conference held at the NYU where she spoke about the earlier book of hers called "Cairo", mentioned above. That too can give a clue just where and how she stands.
At an airport in Amsterdam several years ago, writer G. Willow Wilson ran into a problem on her way back to Denver. Ms. Wilson, a white woman and Muslim convert from New Jersey, was grilled by an official at the gate for the plane and had to defend why she had a different surname from her husband. "The situation was funny to me," Ms. Willow says, so she decided to write a comic book about the not-so-friendly skies. She may be downplaying it, but still seems to have a problem with being asked questions at all. Ahem: standard security procedure, ma'am, so don't complain. Everybody can be asked questions at the airport.
In her comic series "Air," Ms. Wilson follows a flight attendant who gets drawn into a magical world of intrigue after encountering a mysterious secret agent. Ms. Wilson's previous comic, "Cairo," was a surrealistic jaunt through her favorite city and part-time home. She fell in love with the Egyptian capital after a trip there during college. "Nothing works, but everything works out," she says about the city.
As a child, Ms. Wilson was attracted to comics for their conflicts. "X-Men" was a particular favorite. "[Comics] formed my ideas about heroism and they were more at my level than the bigger classic literatures," she says.
"Air," published by Vertigo (the adult imprint of DC Comics) and illustrated by M.K. Perker, is part of Ms. Wilson's attempt to make sense of her life as a Muslim after 9/11. She says that in the wake of the terror attacks, "It was weird and strange to be a white convert." She soon found that the very things that made her life difficult also provided great raw material for her comics.
And the part about X-Men being a favorite may be exaggerated too: In this interview on USA Weekend:
I hear your first introduction to comics was the X-Men.But is worshiping the Religion of Peace and Shari'a law the right path?
I must have been 10 or 11 at the time. It wasn’t even a real issue of X-Men. It was one of those public service things that they do, an anti-smoking issue where some kid is on the track team, starts smoking, slows down, and the X-Men set him on the right path. But that’s all it took.
G. Willow Wilson is a confused idealistic young woman. As a muslim convert, she fails to understand how that culture endangers her as a woman. Does she endorse forced female circumcision? Does she support Sharia’s lack of human rights for women? What foolishness it is to laud someone like her. Please help her understand her folly.Yes, someone certainly needs to help her out. Maybe that someone could be Geert Wilders, Ayaan Hirsi Ali, or even Bosch Fawstin!
Update: I found this old post from a blog called FunnyBookBabylon from last year that tells that Wilson had quite a Muslim audience at a conference held at the NYU where she spoke about the earlier book of hers called "Cairo", mentioned above. That too can give a clue just where and how she stands.

CONGRESS ACTED UNCONSTITUTIONALLY?
So opines George F. Will in today's Washington Post:
It is high time Americans heard an argument that might turn a vague national uneasiness into a vivid awareness of something going very wrong. The argument is that the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008 (EESA) is unconstitutional.Pity that too many Americans won't listen or care, even as our Constitution is being dismantled right before our very eyes.
By enacting it, Congress did not in any meaningful sense make a law. Rather, it made executive branch officials into legislators. Congress said to the executive branch, in effect: "Here is $700 billion. You say you will use some of it to buy up banks' 'troubled assets.' But if you prefer to do anything else with the money -- even, say, subsidize automobile companies -- well, whatever."
[...]
The Supreme Court has said: "That Congress cannot delegate legislative power to the president is a principle universally recognized as vital to the integrity and maintenance of the system of government ordained by the Constitution." And the court has said that properly delegated discretion must come with "an intelligible principle" and must "clearly delineate" a policy that limits the discretion. EESA flunks that test.
With EESA, Congress forces the country to ponder the paradox of sovereignty: If sovereign people freely choose to surrender their sovereignty, is this willed subordination really subordination?
It is. Congress has done that. A court should hear the argument that Congress cannot so divest itself of powers vested in it.
EL AL FEATURES ANTI-SEMITIC SKIT ON THEIR FLIGHT BROADCASTS
This report tells that El Al is airing an offensive skit from the TV "comedy" show called Eretz Nehederet:
As for El Al, here's their defense:
Don't expect them to ever do a satire on Islam though. It's not hard to guess what PC-cowards the production staff for Eretz Nehederet are.
(IsraelNN.com) Travelers on Israeli airline El-Al report that its flights now feature a satire about residents of Hevron which many have termed “anti-Semitic.” The producers of the film may face libel suits.Blech! This is disgusting. But that's exactly what Eretz Nehederet came up with a few months ago, and the program should be boycotted.
The offending skit was aired earlier in the month on the satirical Eretz Nehederet (A Wonderful Land) show on Channel 2 TV. The popular show has run for six seasons in Israel and is similar to the American program Saturday Night Live. (The Hevron film clip can be viewed here in Hebrew.)
The skit, entitled “Everyone Hates Rabin,” showcased a family in Hevron. The mother is depicted as ironing clothes on the back of an Arab and later hanging the laundry on his arms. The father, named Ketzaleh after the Ichud Leumi (National Union) party head Yaakov "Ketzaleh" Katz, describes how he beat up an Arab flower vendor.
The children in the show scream “Nazi” and “Hitler” every time someone upsets them. The daughter of the family also wants to attend a "Baruch Goldstein" celebration, in reference to the Kiryat Arba pediatrician who killed 29 Arabs in Hevron in 1994. In addition, the family prepares acid to pour on soldiers, while the grandfather shoots two Arabs and a soldier in the course of the skit.
As for El Al, here's their defense:
El-Al also claims it is not at fault for airing the show and blamed the HOT company which is responsible for in-air programming. El-Al promised to discuss the issue with HOT.Okay, I hope it isn't the airline's fault. But then, they may have to consider cancelling any subscription deals they have with the HOT cable company. As will any Israeli subscribers with common sense.
Don't expect them to ever do a satire on Islam though. It's not hard to guess what PC-cowards the production staff for Eretz Nehederet are.
HOLOCAUST CONCERT EXPOSES FATAH FOR WHAT IT TRULY IS: ANTISEMITIC SCUM NOT TO BE TRUSTED

HAARETZ/AP: Palestinian youth orchestra disbanded over concert for Holocaust survivors
Palestinian authorities disbanded a youth orchestra from a West Bank refugee camp after it played for a group of Holocaust survivors in Israel, a local official said on Sunday.THIS IS DISGUSTING ON EVERY LEVEL: THE FALSE EQUIVALENCE; THE FALSE HISTORY - AND SO ON...
Adnan Hindi of the Jenin camp called the Holocaust a political issue and accused conductor Wafa Younis of unknowingly dragging the children into a political dispute.
He added that Younis has been barred from the camp and the apartment where she taught the 13-member Strings of Freedom orchestra has been boarded up.
"She exploited the children," said Hindi, the head of the camp's popular committee, which takes on municipal duties. "She will be forbidden from doing any activities.... We have to protect our children and our community."
The move highlights the sensitivity of many Palestinians over acknowledging Jewish suffering, fearing it would weaken their own historical grievances against Israel. "The Holocaust happened, but we are facing a similar massacre by the Jews themselves," Hindi said. "We lost our land, and we were forced to flee and we've lived in refugee camps for the past 50 years."
UNTIL THESE ARABS ACKNOWLEDGE THE TRUTH - ABOUT THE HOLOCAUST, THEMSELVES AND THEIR HOLLOW CLAIM FOR YET ANOTHER ARAB STATE - THERE WILL BE NO PEACE.
THE NYTIMES WEIGHS IN HERE. EXCERPT:
Adnan al-Hindi, the leader of the camp’s Popular Committee, a grassroots group representing the Palestine Liberation Organization, said the young musicians had been exploited by the orchestra director, Wafaa Younis, for the purpose of “normalizing” ties with Israel.THE PLO - THAT'S ABBAS'S GROUP. ABBAS - THE "MODERATE".
