Another machete attack took place, this time in a Belgian city:
Two female officers were attacked and wounded by a man wielding a machete and shouting “Allahu Akhbar” outside the main police station in the Belgian city of Charleroi on Saturday, police said.

The assailant was shot by a third officer and later died of his wounds, authorities said. The attacker’s identity and motive were not immediately known, Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel said, but added the “first indications” suggested it was an act of terrorism.

“Thoughts are with the victims, their relatives and police officers,” Michel posted on Twitter. The prime minister broke off his vacation in the south of France and was returning to Belgium for an emergency meeting of the government’s National Security Council on Sunday.

Michel told RTL television in an interview that he has also asked the independent OCAM agency to immediately assess whether there is an increased threat to Belgian internal security. Belgium has been on high alert in the wake of the March 22 suicide bombings claimed by the Islamic State extremist group that killed 32 people in Brussels.

Charleroi police spokesman David Quinaux said Saturday’s attacker carried the weapon in a sports bag, and pulled it out as he arrived at a security checkpoint outside police headquarters in the southern Belgian city just before 4 p.m.

One of the two police, both of whom were described as experienced law enforcement officers, received several deep slashing cuts to the face, Quinaux said. The other was slightly wounded.

Both officers are now “out of danger,” Charleroi police announced Saturday evening on Twitter.

A third officer at the scene shot the attacker, who died of his wounds at a hospital, officials said.
The jihadist should burn in hell for what he did. And I'm sure Michel knows perfectly well what the assailant's motive was: jihadism.

Here's a change of pace for Astute readers.

Cyber-Terrorists: WikiLeaks Trying to Hack Donald Trump's Tax Returns (VIDEO)

Cross-posted from American Power.

Julian Assange confirms he's trying to hack Donald Trump's tax returns, on Bill Maher's show.

Watch, at CNN, "Wikileaks: We are working on hacking Trump's taxes: Julian Assange told Bill Maher in an interview that Wikileaks is working on hacking into Donald Trump's tax returns. The Republican nominee has refused to release the returns, despite multiple requests from reporters."

At the clip, Scottie Nell Hughes notes that they wouldn't be hacking into Trump's files, they'd be hacking into the IRS.

Assange is wanted in Sweden anyway, and would likely be extradited here. I think a lot of folks think WikiLeaks just broke onto the scene the last couple years. But Assange and his cyber-terrorists tried to demonize and discredit the U.S. back in 2010.

These are bad people. Don't kid yourself about them. They're genuinely evil.

Shame on Bill Maher for giving him a platform.

The Despicable Left's MSM Smear Campaign Won't Stop Trump (VIDEO)

Heh, at the D.C. Whispers blog, "ALERT: Democrat & Republican Leaders to Declare Donald Trump “Mentally Incompetent” (UPDATES)."

Declare Trump "incompetent"; say he's about to "drop out"; and allege that the entire GOP establishment has abandoned him, and you can create an almost impenetrable Orwellian bubble of lies.

That's what the left does. It's all lies.

I will concede the polls are not going Trump's way, although I'm still leery of the sampling.

We'll see, of course.

In any case, you gotta love the Alex Jones folks for keeping the faith:

Democrat Registration Numbers Surge Behind the Orange Curtain

Cross-posted from American Power.

The O.C.'s a polarized county.

If you get up into North Orange County, it's almost like Los Angeles and Long Beach. Totally diverse --- and leftist.

But in South Orange County --- Mission Viejo, Laguna Hills, Aliso Viejo, and Dana Point, for example --- I'm sure there's still large Republican majorities. But even there it's changing.

At the O.C. Register, "Democratic surge shrinks GOP lead":
A surge in Democratic voter registration has cut Republicans’ advantage in Orange County to less than 6 percentage points and has doubled the number of Democratic cities over the past year.

The Republican margin has been shrinking since 1990, when the GOP edge was 22 points. But in the past six months, the pace of change has been four times as fast as the 26-year average – due in part to the GOP’s controversial presidential nominee. That could hurt the local Republicans in November’s down-ticket races.

“Donald Trump has become our best marketing tool,” said Henry Vandermeir, chairman of the Democratic Party of Orange County. “He’s insulted pretty much every constituency in this county, which has helped drive Democratic registration and turnout to new highs.”

Vandermeir’s registration efforts have gotten a boost from other quarters. In addition to the county Democratic Party, at least four left-leaning groups – including MoveOn.org – have been registering voters in Orange County. County GOP Chairman Fred Whitaker said his party has gotten virtually no outside help.

Additionally, Sen. Bernie Sanders attracted young adults who might have otherwise not participated. And the competitive Democratic presidential primary in June boosted turnout, while the Republican contest was already decided....

Orange County was long touted as the nation’s most Republican county. The modern-era high point was 1990, when the GOP’s 56 percent share of the electorate translated to a 22-point advantage over Democrats. (In 1928, Republicans were at 73 percent.)

That edge has slowly dropped, to 17 percentage points in 2000 and to 11 points in 2010.

Republicans are now 39.7 percent of county voters, an all-time low. Democrats are at 34 percent, their highest since 1992. Voters with no party preference account for 22.6 percent, down from the all-time high of 23.6 percent last year.

That means Republicans’ 8-percentage point edge in February has shrunk to 5.7 points...
I grew up in Orange County. Shoot, I walked to school through the orange groves behind my postwar track housing neighborhood. It was great!

But keep reading (via Memeorandum).

If you click though, little noticed there is the surge in "no party preference" voters, at almost 23 percent (up from 10 percent in 1992). A lot of independents are extremely angry and frustrated and may well vote for Trump as the anti-establishment outsider. I think idiot Democrats ought not be counting their presidential chickens before they hatch.

A mosque in Rouen refuses to bury the jihadist who graphically murdered a priest at the city church. But nobody should be fooled:
COMMUNITY leaders have refused to bury one of the terrorists responsible for the murder of a Catholic priest in France.

They said they did not want to “taint” Islam by having any connection with Adel. Kermiche, the 19-year-old extremist who murdered Father Jacques Hamel in Normandy, reports The Sun.

Speaking on the decision, Mohammed Karabila, president of the local Muslim cultural association and imam, told Le Parisian: “We’re not going to taint Islam with this person.

“We won’t participate in preparing the body or the burial.”
Forget it, they're just trying to pretend neither their teachings nor the Koran had anything to do with the monster's behavior. Point: Islam itself is already tainted with the ideologies he went by. They'd be advised to just leave the country, and be honest about the Koran's contents.

It may not have been made clear 5 years ago, when Geoff Johns first set up his propaganda angle in GL, but now, it's been confirmed in one of their post Rebirth issues that Simon Baz was being kept in Guantanamo Bay when he was arrested, as seen in the following picture:
I'm sure Johns is quite proud of his apologia premise, ditto where it's been going since. An obvious attack on US policy with terrorists, and one of the most degrading parts of the character's creation is how he wears a mask that looks like what jihadists could wear.

There's a line in the BC entry that's absurd:
It was heavily implied that this was Guantanamo Bay. But in the New 52, they didn’t like to use such names or make quite such obvious references.
No kidding! Then why did they go out of their way to feature a cameo appearance by Obama? Something which also comes up in the article, by the way.

Some of the commenters sum up how none of the above adds anything to the character:
Simon Baz holds less than 0 interest for me. That he has these new lantern super powers no other Lantern has does not make him any more likable, just makes him a Gary Stu.
One of those powers happens to be a firearm, as though they couldn't characterize him any worse than he already was. Considering he began as a car thief and was later charged with transporting explosives and blowing up an old factory site with them, using a firearm that's probably not even registered wouldn't aid his police record well in real life.

Another asked:
Obama has principles?
You said it, pal. Just what principles did he have these past two terms of office? Nothing helpful, that's for sure. And another says:
UGH. This is so bad. Why isn't he using his ring to get justice then?

I hate when they use real world tragedies just as window dressing.
By now the politics behind the creation are pretty apparent, explaining perfectly why they never developed the character convincingly. Still another says:
Simon Baz is a bad idea wrapped up in a burrito of bad ideas.
More specifically, the characterization and background are the real bad ideas here. And it's clear nothing's bound to improve. Anybody's who's galled at the ultra-leftist politics DC's been forcing on their books for over 2 decades should avoid buying GL, along with many of the past works Geoff Johns left behind as he went to work in movie/TV producing.

Here's a troubling issue that's just come up:
Notwithstanding his war-hero son’s genuinely patriotic example, Khizr M. Khan has published papers supporting the supremacy of Islamic law over “man-made” Western law — including the very Constitution he championed in his Democratic National Convention speech attacking GOP presidential nod Donald Trump.

In 1983, for example, Khan wrote a glowing review of a book compiled from a seminar held in Kuwait called “Human Rights In Islam” in which he singles out for praise the keynote address of fellow Pakistani Allah K. Brohi, a pro-jihad Islamic jurist who was one of the closest advisers to late Pakistani dictator Gen. Zia ul-Haq, the father of the Taliban movement.

Khan speaks admiringly of Brohi’s interpretation of human rights, even though it included the right to kill and mutilate those who violate Islamic laws and even the right of men to “beat” wives who act “unseemly.”

As Pakistani minister of law and religious affairs, Brohi helped create hundreds of jihadi incubators called madrassas and restored Sharia punishments, such as amputations for theft and demands that rape victims produce four male witnesses or face adultery charges. He also made insulting the Muslim prophet Muhammad a crime punishable by death. To speed the Islamization of Pakistan, he and Zia issued a law that required judges to consult mullahs on every judicial decision for Sharia compliance.

Khan, who says he immigrated to the U.S. in 1980 to escape Pakistan’s “military rule,” nonetheless spoke admiringly of Brohi in his review of his speech. He praised his remarks even though Brohi advocated for the enforcement of the medieval Sharia punishments, known as “hudood” (singular “hadd”), that were later adopted and carried out with brutal efficiency by the Taliban in neighboring Afghanistan.
The man's son may be a war hero, but the elderly Khan most certainly isn't, nor is he showing much knowledge of the Constitution himself. How can we even believe he immigrated to America to avoid Pakistan's dictatorships? This is truly awful.

Muslims Firebombed Bus in Paris Last Week; U.S. Media Dead Silent, Lest They Hurt Hillary's Campaign

Well, here's the video on Twitter, "BREAKING: Muslims Firebomb Bus in Paris yelling Allahu Akbar."

And at Gateway Pundit, "BREAKING: Muslims Firebomb Bus in Paris (VIDEO)."

But the story dates back to July 28th, which was the same day as Hillary's acceptance speech in Philadelphia.

At France Bleu, "Un bus de la RATP incendié à Saint-Denis." And Le Figaro, "Un bus incendié dans une cité de Saint-Denis."

Arutz Sheva has it thins morning, however, "Watch: French teens set bus ablaze, shout 'Allahu Akhbar' - Muslim teenagers threw a molotov cocktail at a bus in Paris, screaming "Allahu Akhbar." The bus became a conflagration."

Veteran Gives Donald Trump His Purple Heart at Virginia Campaign Rally (VIDEO)

Cross-posted from American Power.

Hmm, I'm sure this will be all over the news today.

At McClatchy, "Trump receives Purple Heart from veteran: ‘This was much easier’":

Trump told the audience during his rally that “something very nice just happened to me. A man came up to me and he handed me his Purple Heart.”

As the audience aahed, Trump continued: “I said to him, ‘Is that like the real one or is that a copy? And he said, ‘That’s my real Purple Heart. I have such confidence in you.’”

“And I said, ‘Man that’s big stuff.’ I always wanted to get the Purple Heart. This was much easier, but I tell you it was such an honor.”

Trump, who identified the veteran as retired Lt. Col. Louis Dorfman, then brought him up on stage and shook hands, holding the award up again for the crowd. According to records, Dorfman was wounded in action in November 2007 in Iraq.

The giving of the Purple Heart followed a days-long feud in the press between Trump and the family of Capt. Humayun Khan, who was killed in action in Iraq in 2004...

There's some good news if you're somebody who wants to improve residential status for Jews in Israel:
Arabs across Israel and on both sides of the Green Line are increasingly willing to sell to Jews, says a Jerusalem city councilman, calling it a golden opportunity for Jewish buyers to redeem property in the Holy Land.

Jerusalem councilman Aryeh King, who has worked for years to redeem Jewish properties in what are now predominantly Arab neighborhoods in and around Jerusalem, is calling upon Diaspora Jews to take part in “rebuilding of Jerusalem”.

Ahead of a planned visit to a number of Jewish communities in the United States and Canada, King spoke with Arutz Sheva about the sudden surge of Arab properties available to Jewish buyers.

“The purpose of my visit to the US and Canada is because we are aware of a big change in the Arab population in Judea and Samaria, in Jerusalem, and in fact in all of Israel,” King said.

“More and more Arabs are offering properties for sale. Because of that the cost of properties that Arabs are selling is dropping and we are able to buy in areas that we never thought to buy. So this visit is really to expose the areas that we are already active [in] and to expose the properties to Jewish potential buyers".
I'm guessing the Arab residents are gaining courage, and the arrest of leftist Ezra Nawi could also be one of the reasons why they're more encouraged to sell property to Jews now.

It's a perfect opportunity for purchasing indeed, and I hope some buyers will make the effort to acquire the properties offered.

Polarization and Accumulated Hatreds

Just posted, at Althouse:

Take Back America photo untitledObamunists.jpg
This election's all about accumulated hatreds. It's tribal polarization all the way, and it's just the beginning! If Trump wins it'll probably just be a finger in the dike of the coming wave of Third World brown hordes. Hunker down people. Get your survival gear. Extreme federalization of loyalties is likely, and that's the peaceful outcome. Civil war is the other extreme, and it's not too far-fetched of a possibility. Shoot, just note the Democrat convention for your narrative justification. Michelle Obama's talking about slaves building the White House. I thought O's election was supposed to transcend race. We were going to be one America, not divided by hatred or ideology. Well, not so much, it turns out.

After the latest terrorist attacks in France, they may be barring foreign funding for mosques:
Following a wave of terrorist attacks in France, French Prime Minister Manuel Valls is considering prohibiting foreign funding for mosques in the country and has suggested adopting a new model for relations with Islam.

The measures come in part as a response to growing public frustration with the French government's security failures leading up to the attacks.

Over the weekend, French newspaper Le Monde published research indicating that the vast majority of terrorists that took part in attacks throughout France were known to security services, and some of them had even been arrested and released.

As an example, the report named Normandy attacker Adel Kermiche, 19, who slit a priest's throat last week. He had been accused of terrorist activity and of trying to go to Syria in the past and was released from custody until his trial. Kermiche, who wore an electronic tracking device, was one of two attackers at the Normandy church. His partner in the murder, Abdel-Malik Nabil Petitjean, was also known to the French authorities as an Islamist operative.

Valls told Le Monde that Kermiche's release was "a failure that we must admit." According to him, French judges ruling on terrorism cases "must take a different case-by-case approach, given the jihadis' very advanced concealment methods."
True, the judges and other authorities have to shoulder serious blame for failing to keep the jihadis incarcerated properly. They'll have to cut off foreign funding for mosques too, and not allow any more to be built either.

At the same time, any backing they give to groups hostile to Israel will have to stop:
Even as France is considering banning foreign financing of mosques, it – along with other European countries – is financing organizations intent on harming Israeli, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said at the start of Sunday's cabinet meeting.

“We intend to enter into a discussion with them [France] about this issue, because terror is terror everywhere, and incitement is incitement that encompasses the world, and the treatment needs to be unified -- as much as possible -- among the governments,” he said.

Netanyahu began his comments by saying that Israel was shocked by the cruel murder of a priest in Normandy last week.

“I heard about a discussion that took place last week in the French government about preventing foreign money from organizations that harm French citizens,” he said. “That sounds familiar to us. We are also concerned about these types of contribution to organizations that reject Israel's existence.”

Netanyahu said that he ordered a preliminary check into this matter, and found support from European countries, including France, to a number of organizations that incite against and call for a boycott of Israel, and who do not recognize the Jewish state’s right to exist.
It's offensive in the extreme, and if they really want to lead convincing anti-terror policies against Islamofascism, they cannot object to Israel doing the same. Germany is probably even more guilty of this:
The NGO Monitor watchdog group has found that between 2012 and 2015, Germany funneled at least $4.4 million to some 15 Israeli organizations, and 42 percent of the donations went to groups supporting an international boycott against Israel and policies negating Israel’s existence as a Jewish state.

The report found that the German Economic Cooperation and Development Ministry operates a Civil Peace Service (Ziviler Friedensdienst) project in Israel, but in fact, on the ground the project is headed by a different German group, KURVE Wustrow, which has partnered with two local organizations—the Israeli Coalition of Women for Peace and the Palestinian Popular Struggle Coordination Committee.
Germany is also obsessed with two-state solutions, so it's clear their government is a bad lot, and just as bad for Israel as for their own country today, recalling the sexual assaults by Muslim interlopers that took place recently.
