GLENN REYNOLDS STILL FUNDAMENTALLY WRONG ABOUT THE SO-CALLED "EDUCATION BUBBLE"

ANDREW ROTHERHAM: Forget the higher education bubble talk, college is very much worth it. Well, I’ll say this — if America becomes more like France, it’ll certainly be worth it to go to the schools that let you join the nomenklatura.

But he kind of assumes away the problem when he says: “Assuming you don’t pile up mountains of debt that constrain your career options (and that outcome is avoidable) or go to a school where just fogging a mirror is good enough to get a diploma, there are not a lot of downsides to going to college.” Well, yes. If you get an actually useful education without running up a lot of debt, you’ll be fine. But when even Ivy League grads are having trouble, it’s not as simple as he makes it sound.

IVY LEAGUE GRADS ARE NOT HAVING A TOUGH TIME GETTING GOOD JOBS BECAUSE THEY ARE POORLY EDUCATED OR BECAUSE THEY ARE DUMB OR IN DEEP DEBT.

THEY ARE HAVING A TOUGH TIME BECAUSE THE ECONOMY SUCKS, AND IT SUCKS BECAUSE OF SOCIALIST POLICIES.

THE USA HAS BECOME ONE OF THE LEAST BUSINESS FRIENDLY ECONOMIES IN THE WORLD.

IT WOULD GREAT IF:
COLLEGE COST LESS -
AND IF COLLEGES OFFERED MORE MEANINGFUL AND MARKETABLE SKILL WITH DEGREES -
AND IF COLLEGE FACULTIES WEREN'T DOMINATED BY LEFTISTS AND WERE AS DIVERSE POLITICALLY AS CAMPUSES ARE DEMOGRAPHICALLY,

BUT THE SUDDEN HIGH UNEMPLOYMENT RATES FOR COLLEGE GRADS IS A RECENT DEVELOPMENT AND A SIE-EFFECT OF THE COLLAPSE OF THE HOUSING BUBBLE -

WHICH WAS CAUSED BY A FEW DECADES OF SOCIALISM ON THE MORTGAGE ARENA (AND THE IMPLICIT FEDERAL GUARANTEE OF ALL HOUSING DEBT AND ITS DERIVATIVES) -

AND THE HARMFUL OBAMA PORKULUS AND OBAMACARE BILLS PASSED BY THE DEMOCRAT CONGRESS AND OBAMA.

RECENT GRADS WILL FIND BETTER JOBS - AND FIND IT EASIER TO PAY OFF THEIR LOANS - ONCE WE GET RID OF THESE ANTI-GROWTH POLICIES.

TELLING KIDS TO GET LESS EDUCATION IS NOT THE ANSWER, PROFESSOR.
