THE OBLIGATORY HOT AIR DUDE POST...

DOES ANYONE ELSE THINK THE OBLIGATORY AND DUDE POSTS AT HOT AIR ARE GETTING KIND OF BORING?

OR SHOULD HOT AIR CONTINUE WITH THE DUDE POSTS - AND MAYBE EVEN TURN THEM INTO A BOOK?

I think Hot Air, particularly AllahPundit, has assumed a Patriarchal tone since they began. The "Obligatory" posts and the "Red Meat" posts paint the stories they portray as not being truly worth getting worked up over. And yet, the implication is, they feed the unwashed masses what they want just for the fun of watching the chaos that ensues

The other implication is, Hot Air knows what we should really care about, and these stories are not such.

I like AllahPundit, cuz I think he's a good writer, and he consistently thinks things through and tries to give a larger context to the news of the day.

However, he has grown more and more obnoxious in his paternalism as the years pass.

He would be wise to understand that the new media will not thrive on such an attitude, dude.

I really like Hot Air, but really only for Allahpundit. It seems I can always tell who wrote the thread without even looking at the author, and when its clever, its Allah.

In fact, I stole a few ideas from there for my own blog, as I've been known to have the "obligatory" post and sometimes the "exit question". I usually skip past the "dude" and the "red meat" threads, however.

I should really hang out there more often. Its one of the few limited-registration accounts that I have. Perhaps the problem is that the front page is organized less like a traditional blog, so instead of the vast majority of netizens hanging out in the comments section of the latest post, they're scattered about between the various posts and the "headlines" section. So I guess verdict from me is that the amount of content is good, but the discussion could be better.
