With the departure of Gates from the Pentagon, the White House has asked Panetta to leave the CIA to head up the Pentagon and Petraeus is now positioned to take over the CIA.
IMHO this shift reveals two things: the obvious - that the CIA and Military are closely cooperating in the conduct of WWIV; and the Obamaesque - that the President will use his operative Panetta to placate the left wing of his Party by diminishing the visibility of the Military Campaign, while Petraeus will (hopefully!) ramp up the clandestine war on Terror.
