Mohammed Ali Qasim, also known as Abu Suhaib al-Makki, had been working under al-Qaeda leaders along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, a statement said.
The army said his arrest was a "major development in unravelling the al-Qaeda network operating in the region".
Officials later told the BBC that Qasim was key courier between Osama Bin Laden and his deputy, Ayman al-Zawahiri.
ARREST HIM!? THEY WERE PRIBABLY OSTING HIM FIR THE LASAT DECADE AND JUST DECIDED TI THROW HIM OVEBOARD FIR A KITTLE VCOVER.
MEANWHILE: THE PAKI PM HAS ARRIVED IN CHINA.
I WONDER IF HE'LL BE GETTING CASH FOR OUR STEALTH CHOPPER PARTS?
BTW: WERE THEY REALLY SO STEALTHY? I THINK NOT:
The idea that there was any real stealth in the execution of the raid is BS.
A local tweeter tweeted the whole damn thing as it happened PRINCIPALLY due to the NOISE of the "stealth" helicopters.
Therefore, today's version of the raid - version #1289436478909 - that it was stealthy until the chopper malfunctioned forcing them to jettison their planned stealthy attack on the roof of the house is "p*re bullshit."
FROM THE AP LINK:
Adding exclusive new details to the account of the assault on bin Laden's hideout, officials described just how the SEAL raiders loudly ditched a foundering helicopter right outside bin Laden's door, ruining the plan for a surprise assault. That forced them to abandon plans to run a squeeze play on bin Laden — simultaneously entering the house stealthily from the roof and the ground floor.
Instead, they busted into the ground floor and began a floor-by-floor storming of the house, working up to the top level where they had assumed bin Laden — if he was in the house — would be.
AISB: BULLSHIT.
I AM GLAD PETER KING IS GONNA HOLD HEARINGS. MAYBE HE WILL GET THE REAL STORY.
