A NOTE OF CAUTION TO THE RIGHT: LET'S NOT NOMINATE A GOP DUKAKIS IN 2012

Dukakis ran as a technocrat; he ran on competence and the "Massachusetts Miracle".

(Which turned out to be a mirage.)P

But more importantly, Dukakis was a lousy candidate - i think one major reasin was that he had no poetry, only prose.

Mitch Daniels and Mitt Romney and Tim Pawlenty all strike me a CONSERVATIVE versions of Dukakis.

They'd each make a better president than Obama, abs they'd each be better candidates than Dukakis, but they're in that mold.

YES: I want someone more like Reagan - even more like Clinton was in 1992 than Dukakis was in 1988.

Someone who is as inspiring as they are competent.

Maybe Daniels OR Pawlenty can develop that ability.

Maybe Daniels is our Cool Cal'.

Dunno - and it's too early to say.

I just want a candidate who can inspire as well as s/he can counter punch and manage.

ANY SUGGESTIONS?

Could it be Haley Barbour? Chris Christie? Sarah Palin? Jim Demint? Jan Brewer?

IMHO: We have one year to figure out who this will be. We will have to raise $1BILLION to defeat the Obama-Clinton ticket and raising that much money takes time.

Maybe only Romney and Palin can do that.

Lt. Col. Alan West . . .truely the first (black) AMERICAN Conservative candidate out there.

Good point-- but I think that Daniels' competence will look mighty fine after seeing Obama in action.
