HALF the staff of an NHS trust would be unhappy if friends or relatives had to be treated in their hospitals, they admitted in a damning survey.

Yesterday, health chiefs were told they should be ashamed of conditions at their hospitals, serving more than 500,000 people.

Employees of East Lancashire NHS Trust told researchers they had little faith in their bosses, with 52 per cent revealing they would not want their own loved ones to be in their care.

Only 33 per cent felt there were enough staff to enable them to do their jobs properly and just over half (53 per cent) believed patient care was the top priority.
