LAWYER INSTAPUNDIT ASKS A DUMB QUESTION ABOUT LOWERING HEALTH CARE COSTS

GLENN:

TECHNOLOGY MARCHES ON: A GPS with speech recognition for under two hundred bucks. Why can’t we harness these forces to lower health care costs?

THIS IS IDIOTIC.

WHAT HAS MADE HEALTH CARE COSTS HIGHER IS BETTER CARE AND HIGHER MALPRACTICE INSURANCE RATES.

AN MRI MACHINE IS MORE COMPLEX THAN A GPS BY A FACTOR OF 1000. AND IT'S PRICE HAS COME DOWN IN THE LAST TEN YEARS - MORE THAN THE PRICE OF A GPS.

AND IT IS READILY AVAILABLE ALL OVER THE USA.

A CAR WITHOUT A VOICE-ACTIVATED GPS WOULD BE LESS EXPENSIVE THAN ONE WITH IT.

AND HEALTH CARE WITHOUT ALL THE THINGS WHICH HAVE MADE HEALTH CARE BETTER THAN IT WAS JUST A FEW YEARS AGO WOULD ALSO BE CHEAPER THAN IT IS.

YOU CAN GET HEALTH CARE AS CHEAPLY TODAY
AS YOU DID IN 1960.

JUST SETTLE FOR 1960 CARE
AND THE RESULTS 1960 CARE YIELDED.

IOW: HEALTHCARE INFLATION IS BS - A BOGEYMAN MEANT TO DEFLECT BLAME FROM THE REAL CULPRITS:
  • THE LAWYERS AND THEIR TORTS
  • AND THE LIBERAL POLITICIANS AND THEIR RESTRICTIONS ON INTERSTATE TRADE AND THEIR REFUSAL TO GIVE FAMILIES THE SAME TAX BREAK THEY GIVE BUSINESSES .

YES - COINCIDENTALLY, GLENN IS A LAWYER.

ONE WHO TRAINS PEOPLE TO BECOME LAWYERS.

WHO MAKE MANY MANY THINGS MORE EXPENSIVE WITH THEIR UNBRIDLED TORTS.

LAWYERS LIKE JOHN EDWARDS.

AND THESE LAWYERS OWN AND OPERATE THE DEMOCRAT PARTY I THEIR OWN INTEREST AND IN THE INTEREST OF THEIR COMRADES THE UNIONS WHO WORK FOR THE GOVERNMENT: THE SEIU; THE NEA; AND ASFSCME.

Someone pointed out to me that there are two areas of healthcare which have very clearly dropped in price in the past few years;

Laser Eye Surgery
Elective Plastic Surgery (boobs and stuff)

Because these areas of healthcare are not on the Medicare dole, and because they are not covered by Insurance, they are the only areas of healthcare which are completely shaped by market forces.

You bring up the MRI. And, you make a good point about it. But, another point is, as far as I know, they also keep coming up with better MRI machines, which cost more money.

Certainly, that is true with ultrasound imaging.

Most costs in the American healthcare system are inflated by Medicare interference, and by the fact that poor people and illegal aliens manipulate the system to get free health care.

This leads to middle class having to make up the difference, as Drs. charge us more money.

And, of course, TORT reform would bring down the cost of Medical Malpractice Insurance, which would save tremendous amounts of money.
