i know that's tough for kneejerk leftists to understand - as leftists always conflate things, committing the as/is conflation -- that is to say leftists routinely argue that two partly similar things are identical (as you do now).
let me explain why you are wrong:
1 - saddam was in violation of the unscr's which functioned as the armistice; therefore he caused a state of war to exist. david kay and hans blix both tesitified that saddam was in violation of several unscr's. you can get the citiations and quote by searching at this blog.
2a - saddam killed more iraqis each year of his reign than the usa did each year of the war.
2b - the sanctions killed more iraqis than the war.
2c - therefore, the wear was a humane act.
3 - the war was especially so because iraqis now have democracy.
4 - in europe, ww2 cost many lives, but all are the fault of the nazis. none are the fault of the allies. hitler started the war to enslave europeans. the deaths were not in vain.
AS FDR AND JFK DR. MLK JR. SAID MANY TIMES: THOSE OF US WHO HAVE FREEDOM AND THE MEANS TO HELP MUST DO WHAT WE CAN TO HELP OUR BROTHERS AND SISTERS EVERYWHERE GET BACK THE INALIENABLE UNIVERSAL HUMAN RIGHTS.
IT IS IMMORAL TO STAND ASIDE AND LET TYRANTS TRAMPLE THE LIVES AND RIGHTS OF OUR FELLOW HUMANS.

and at least more than sarkozy and merkel who have been much more forceful in their words.
i'd like us to do more than condemn the iranian regime with words. i'd like to have a blockade and even attack them.
