This undermines the claim of absolute authority of all tyrants. Sure: many historically claimed "divine right" but this is and always was bogus. And in fact the long march toward liberty and democracy was centered for a long time on displacing these rulers and making null their bogus claims.

"Allahu akbar" — God is great — was the reply of many in the crowd....Those who found fault with poliictal activism from evangelical Christians, who often mention "God's plan", remain noticeably silent when it comes to criticizing Ellison's remarks.
Ellison said in Dearborn that Muslims can help teach America about justice and equal protection, suggesting that Muslim activists may be part of God's plan. He spoke at the annual convention of two Muslim groups, the Muslim American Society and the Islamic Circle of North America....
