A writer for leftist Haaretz, of all places, wrote about the subsections in Israel who won't respect the special siren sounded on Holocaust & War Memorial Day, such as Haredis, and amazingly enough, also cites Arabic citizens and ultra-leftists who won't do so either:

These moments of standing and remembering during Yom Hazikaron’s two nationwide sirens, the one that ushers Yom Hazikaron in at night and a second one the following morning, are deeply ingrained in mainstream Israeli culture. But several subgroups – ultra-Orthodox Jews, Arab Palestinian citizens, and, perhaps increasingly, some Israeli ultra-leftists – choose not to participate in the ritual. Haredim in particular have a complicated relationship to Yom Hazikaron, Israel’s equivalent to Memorial Day, and to Yom Haatzma’ut, Independence Day, which began Monday night and runs through Tuesday.

I'm surprised somebody at that otherwise filthy paper - which has a lot of items you need to take with a grain of salt - cares about this, and the editors were willing to greenlight it. I was already aware some Haredis and certainly Muslims wouldn't respect the custom, but maybe the real eyebrow raiser here is the ultra-leftists in Israel who're following suit. This is definitely disturbing, and needs to be dealt with under an improved education system.

Breitbart London found unsurprising news that the PLO had every intention of trashing their pseudo-negotiations:

Israel's national security chief sent a letter to the White House, the EU and numerous ambassadors including hard proof that Palestinian Authority officials were devising measures to thwart the peace process even before Israel refused to release a fourth round of Palestinian prisoners at the end of March, Israeli newspaper Ha'aretz reported.

In his letter dated April 22, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's national security adviser, Yossi Cohen, included a policy paper written by chief Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat in preparation for a Palestinian rejection of American mediation efforts and Israeli overtures. The paper was written in March, nearly a month before Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas made a unilateral move to sign 15 international conventions, ostensibly in response to Israel’s refusal to honor its commitment to release the final round of prisoners.

As Erekat had planned the maneuver weeks before Israel announced its refusal to release the prisoners, Cohen argues, the Palestinian leadership never intended to follow through with peace talks in good faith.

It all figures. These filthy excrementals were evil all along, and had every intention to keep it up. No one with sanity should have anything to do with them.

Earl Cox brought up the terrible case of the Presbytarian Church selling out to Islamofascism:

The US government and universities have been infiltrated and influenced by Islamists. Why should we believe mainstream Christian churches in America are exempt? What is surprising is the disturbing depth of deception being proliferated by the Presbyterian Church of the United States of America (PCUSA) via their published study guide “Zionism Unsettled.” Some Jewish groups have called its distorted facts and a historical narrative so extreme that they label it “hate” speech. Think on this: hate speech coming out of a Christian church in America--the Presbyterian Church.

American “Zionism” dates back to 1890 and in general is a national movement for returning Jews to their homeland and a resumption of Jewish sovereignty in the Land of Israel. After the State of Israel was formed in 1948, Zionism grew to include development of the Jewish state and its protection by supporting Israel’s Defense Forces. Instead of standing with the 70% of Americans polling in support of Jews and Israel, Presbyterians are attacking Zionism, which in turn attacks Israel and puts us all at risk at the hands of Islamic extremists.

Palestinian terrorists fired thousands of rockets towards Israeli homes, schools and businesses over the last decade. The Presbyterian study guide blatantly ignores this fact. The PCUSA vilifies Israel and Zionism, calls for the annihilation of the Jewish State and turns a blind eye away from the culpability of Arab leaders’ responsibility for the adverse plight of their own people. The guide calls for a rethinking of the Holocaust with the mindset of including the plight of the Palestinians and the idea that Zionism equals racism. According to the Presbyterians, Zionism is to Palestinians as centuries of Christian anti-Semitism were to the Jews. These ideas place Presbyterians sitting in pews every Sunday in the camp with radical positions on serious issues that could bring about disastrous outcomes.

This is truly awful, and explains perfectly why so many Christians in the Muslim world have been imperiled. When a church movement like the Presbytarians cares more about furthering blood libels and less about the lives of the true victims, that's why Christianity is perishing at the hands of Islam.

The UK Guardian (via Breitbart London) says that female genital mutilation's been turned into partying by Muslims in Britain:

The cutting of girls at female genital mutilation "parties" is still going on in Britain and not just taking place abroad, healthcare experts have told MPs.

The Commons home affairs select committee has heard that "cutters" – often older women – are flown into Britain for the events, at which as many as a dozen girls may be operated on.

Janet Fyle, of the Royal College of Midwives, said that by the time the authorities could be alerted, the cutter would have left. "By the time the girls are cut, the woman 'cutter' is on her flight back to the country she came from. We can't go after the cutter. We don't know who she or he is. The parents have to be held responsible," she said.

Professor Janice Rymer, of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, shared Fyle's belief that FGM was happening in Britain. Asked about its scale, she said: "We have no idea. We have no data but I am sure it is happening in this country."

The MPs also heard evidence that 75 to 80 women were undergoing FGM reversal operations in Britain each year.

Filthy in the extreme. So now, in a way, this sadism's been turned into a form of celebration. It's definitely run like a cultish ritual. Yet the UK authorities operate weakly and it all manages to continue unabated.

CSBG WRITER GUSHES OVER THE MUSLIM MS. MARVEL

I really ought to be more careful when I say Comics Should Be Good is the only part of CBR that impresses me, because the following, sensationalized review of Marvel's Muslim propaganda puts a big stain on that section too, and the worst part is that a woman is the one doing the fawning here:

The biggest surprise of the group, for me, is Ms. Marvel, which is a book that has lit people on absolute fire, and with good reason. Obviously as the story of a young woman of color—and with the especially underrepresented Muslim faith (not to mention Pakistani American background) – this books helps fill a huge gap in our current superhero comics. But filling a gap doesn’t matter if you’re not actually good. Fortunately for all of us, Ms. Marvel is all caps GOOD. It’s smart and appropriately sweet, gloriously superheroic and inspiring. It’s also a wonderfully organic origin story (and I DO get sick of origin stories especially when they’re rehashes or retcons of characters we already know) but Kamala’s tale is both perfectly universal and relatable and also unique to her.

Oh yes, we all know how "organic" it is by now, don't we? As the news involving the Original Sin crossover's noted, they're tying the character's would-be origin in with the Inhumans. And while Pakistani background itself is fine and welcome, the Muslim background is not, and I say this for the same reasons I would frown if they decided to conceive a protagonist who's a Scientologist or sympathetic to the Ku Klux Klan mentality.

One of the commentors to this article said the series would eventually be cancelled because it stars a character nobody's ever heard of. No, that's not why it'll be cancelled in time. It's because it forces the Religion of Peace onto the main star as her belief system, and down the readers' throats. If they'd avoided ideology, it'd be much easier to accept the book on its own terms.

Most galling, as mentioned before, is that a woman is the one here to gush over the book, all without doing any research about Islam and the Koran, and does a serious disservice to women as a result. This kind of propaganda only embarrasses the CSBG section, where the better items are usually history based for mainstream products.

Update: I recalled seeing a review of How to Understand Israel in 60 Days or Less by the same writer from nearly 4 years ago, and it tells another eyebrow raiser about the same person:

Godless heathen that I am, Sarah Glidden’s How To Understand Israel In 60 Days Or Less appealed greatly, because despite being an aforementioned godless heathen, I definitely WANT to understand Israel, and I think as an atheist I’m sometimes at an even bigger disadvantage than those that have a better understanding and perhaps relation to or with religion and the conflicts that sometimes come with it.

Well I'm afraid she is at a disadvantage if she relies solely on a graphic novel like that. Later on, however, an Israeli soldier came along and posted the following comment:

As a current Israeli solider I can tell you this book is merely for people starting to learn about israel but also has lots of inaccuracies and teaches you very little about israel and the conflict. In the book Sarah Glidden will make claims of things that if asked she can never ever back up.

Also These posts recently that some people have written like israeli soldiers have forced people into a house and then burned them alive is not true and a complete lie. If anyone actually believes that happened they are idiots.

Forcing Women to give birth on the streets that’s a laugh, I’ve personally guarded at checkpoints and have never seen that happen. There are procedures for people who need to get by and people who need a hospital are cared to first and foremost. There is a check on ambulances because more than plenty of times in the past terrorists have tried to sneak in pretending to be injured. Have put weapons in ambulances to get through with someone injured and soforth. Even when these things are found the person who is injured and needs help is still cared to by israeli soldiers and sent to a hospital. If the arabs don’t like the checkpoint they have Hamas and the PA to blame not israel.

Also if you think hamas doesn’t abuse women than you know nothing of hamas. Hamas also puts gays to death. Will stone a woman if she is dressed “improperly” a women can be put to death for pretty much almost anything under hamas rule. I have yet to see my country every put a women to death. In fact we have used the death penalty once.

Women, arabs, blacks, christians, muslims, and so on and so forth all have the same rights as jews and israeli’s.

I’m not going to bother with alot of the other stuff because I just wanted to address the really really absurd things I read. Then again I didn’t read all the comments and just a few but enough to know that alot of americans don’t know anything about israel.

As I figured, the graphic novel was bad enough, and the panels where Glidden uses the f-bomb are just the icing on the cake. What does CSBG's contributor see in such a manure-mobile then?

ISLAMOFASCISM GROWS IN AFRICA

A former US ambassador says the government's turning a blind eye to the threat of Islam and Boko Haram in Nigeria:

Former U.S. Ambassador John Price told Fox News’ Lauren Green the U.S. is putting “blinders on” and ignoring the threat posed by the Nigeria-based terrorist group Boko Haram.

He says the militant group’s current violent streak is a result of Africa “not being on our radar screen.”

“Congressional [leaders] don’t know much about what is going on there,” Price said. “We don’t get in there and talk about the real issue which is radical Islam is growing.” [...]

Suspected Boko Haram gunmen kidnapped nearly 300 teenage schoolgirls from a school in April. Their leader is threatening to attack more schools and abduct more girls.

“There have been thousands of people killed, many attacks mostly against Christian churches and now even Muslim children are being attacked in schools,” Price said.

The U.S. announced Tuesday it will send military and law enforcement personnel to Nigeria to help rescue the kidnapped girls. Price suggests the U.S. also send drones stationed in nearby Niger for intelligence gathering.

I should hope they'll make a convincing effort to find and rescue the girls from those barbarians. The former ambassador's got a point; too long has the Islamic monster been allowed to mutate on the African continent, and this is the result.

Former Egyptian army chief Abdel Fattah al-Sisi said on Monday that the Muslim Brotherhood - the group he removed from power last year - will not exist if he is elected president.

Today was Memorial Day. A sad day it was, and for some, it's even a day of anguish. Especially for these families outraged that Netanyahu would release jihadists:

JERUSALEM (JTA) — Bereaved families heckled Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at Israel’s official Memorial Day ceremony on Mount Herzl for terror victims.

Some families waved red flags and yelled at Netanyahu, preventing him from beginning his speech at the Monday afternoon ceremony. Many then walked out.

The hecklers were protesting a series of releases of more than 80 Palestinian prisoners involved in terror attacks as part of the failed U.S.-backed Israeli-Palestinian peace negotiations.

“You are freeing the murderers of our children,” one protester shouted, according to Israeli media reports.

In response to the protesters, Netanyahu said, “The decision that has been made was difficult, it goes against the value of justice – everyone feels this way. The complicated reality in our region has created a situation in which, for the last four decades, the governments of Israel had to make decisions that were hard to bear — over and over again. I knew I would meet you here, but I viewed it as my responsibility as the prime minister of Israel. I salute your bravery and resistance.”

There's no point in speaking to them, they don't want to hear the words of a man they rightly feel betrayed them. Here's an interview with one of the angry folks:

One of the Israelis who protested Monday when Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu spoke at a memorial service for fallen soldiers and terror victims at Jerusalem's Har Herzl military cemetery, Rami Cohen, told Arutz Sheva that he was protesting Netanyahu's plan to release terrorists.

Cohen, along with about a dozen other attendees, protested as Netanyahu got up to speak at the memorial event. The group staged a highly unusual protest, standing up and leaving the site while holding up red flags. Cohen shouted at Netanyahu, criticizing his release of the terrorists.

“The Prime Minister is planning to release terrorists, and I decided to protest,” Cohen said. “We have had enough of these 'gestures,' we have had enough of concessions. Too many terrorists have been released with Israel getting nothing in return.”

Even if the last number of terrorists scheduled for release didn't go through, because of the PLO's reconnection with Hamas, their concerns are still very valid, and honestly, I have to congratulate the guy for speaking out.
