POST-ELECTION STRATEGY

Post-election euphoria on the part of the victors is normal. Euphoria, however, is not governance.

What are the realities of the American political situation once the new Congress takes office in January?

Let's talk specifics — feasible specifics.

IMMIGRATION TRUTH

I know several immigrants — legal and illegal — who are wonderful people of excellent character and a laudable work ethic. You likely can make the same observation about immigrants whom you encounter.

However, the chilling video below should make us realize that political activism appearing humanitarian and socially just in the short term may well be something else entirely in the long term. The speaker, immigration activist Eliseo Medina, has connections with the SEIU, the Communist Party USA, and the Democratic Socialist Party:

Some text from the video:
So I think there’s two things that matter for the progressive community. Number one, if we are to expand this electorate to win, the progressive community needs to solidly be on the side of immigrants, that we’ll expand and solidify the progressive coalition for the future…

When you are in the middle of a fight for your life you will remember who was there with you. And immigrants count on progressives to be able to do that.

Number two. “We reform the immigration laws, it puts 12 million people on the path to citizenship and eventually voters”. Can you imagine if we have, even the same ratio, two out of three? If we have eight million new voters who care about …… and will be voting. We will be creating a governing coalition for the long term, not just for an election cycle…
How many Congress critters are aware of the above? How many Congress critters CARE?

Also see The American Birdfeeder, which draws the perfect analogy.

Yes, we need immigration reform. But what KIND of immigration reform?

OBAMA'S PLAYBOOK

From "Can Obama Be Stopped?" by Daniel Greenfield:
The big mistake of the last election was assuming that public dissatisfaction with Obama would be enough to remove him....

[...]

Obama’s worldview did not win. Not in 2008 or 2012. His tactics did....

[...]

Obama has a very simple playbook. 1. Create anxiety about an issue. 2. Demand action on it. 3. Hammer the Republicans for their inaction. Every morning the news stories are largely a reflection of one of the three phases of that strategy.

In this game, Republicans can either take the initiative or defend their lack of action on the Obama agenda. What we are seeing lately is a Republican Party that is constantly on the defensive, trying to explain why they haven’t yet done what Obama wants them to do and how they would have done it already if he didn’t keep on interrupting them....
Americans SHOULD be able to see that playbook for what it is. But they don't! And the GOP isn't even making a dent in Obama's playbook.  Even people who should know better are whining and running scared as sequestration looms.

From Obama's perspective, the recent sequestration "crisis" is all about destroying the GOP majority in 2014.  If he is successful, we'll see a replay of 2008-2010.  On a bigger scale.

OBAMA IS FISHING FOR VOTES

And undermining the integrity of the ballot box at the same time!

OUR DISGRACEFUL CONGRESSIONAL LEADERSHIP

These asses are not leaders in any sense of the word (hat tip to Bunkerville):

Money quote:
“I rise in strong support of this bill. I urge my colleagues to support this piece of legislation. None of them have read it. Not one of us has read every page in this bill,” Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-MD) said on the House floor about the $1 trillion spending bill that would prevent a government shutdown.
They, including members of the GOP, were in a hurry to head out for Christmas vacation.

At the same time, many of us here in America are having a very lean Christmas as we groan under the burden of big government!

QUOTE OF THE DAY

From this source:

This president treats the gilded trappings of his office like they are his rights of kingdom.

[...]

He dances away the night of his 50th birthday at the White House and aims only for re-election, oblivious to how his administration has been destroying our economy, security and national cohesion.

But why blame a child for playing with his toys? It’s ignorant voters who present him with the toy chest.

At the end of this month, Obama will, once again, head to Martha's vineyard for vacation. Even Washington Post columnist Colbert I. King is grousing about Obama's upcoming vacation. Please read King's scathing essay!

BRING ON 2010!

From this February 10, 2010 article in the Washington Post:
In poll, Republicans gaining political ground on Obama

Republicans have significantly narrowed the gap with Democrats on who is trusted to deal with the country's problems and have sharply reduced several of President Obama's main political advantages, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll.

The survey paints a portrait of a restless and dissatisfied electorate at the beginning of a critical election year. More than seven in 10 Americans disapprove of the job Congress is doing, and as many say they're inclined to look for new congressional representation as said so in 1994 and 2006, the last times that control of Congress shifted.
The opportunity to rock this administration is just a few months away.

State Sovereignty

On November 3, Virginians will go to the polls to elect various state officials, including a new state attorney general.

Ken Cuccinelli, the Republican candidate for attorney general of Virginia, has a rather unique vision for the office.

From this article in the October 19, 2009 edition of the Washington Post:
Cuccinelli's bid puts focus on a job often off the radar
Va. attorney general candidate says there's power in the post

Republican Kenneth T. Cuccinelli II, a state senator from Fairfax County, hopes to be an entirely different attorney general than what Virginians have grown accustomed to.

...He is ready to sue the federal government if it restricts emissions or expands union powers.

‘Rebranding’ Leaves Conservatives in Vacuum

The long-exposure photo at right, captured by Signaltheorist, shows the 30-minutes-long path of a Roomba® robotic vacuum cleaner. Appearing to have chaos and disorganization at the core of its effort, it reminds this blogger of the recently-announced effort to rebrand the Republican Party which threaten to leave conservative-first party members in a political vacuum.

MORE PROOF OF THE IDIOCY OF POLITICAL LEADERS

But I repeat myself.

On St. Patrick's Day, Irish Prime Minister Brian Cowen did some repeating of his own when he reiterated the words from BHO's teleprompter:
WASHINGTON -- Irish Prime Minister Brian Cowen was just a few paragraphs into an address at a St. Patrick's Day celebration at the White House when he realized something sounded way too familiar. Turns out, he was repeating the speech President Barack Obama had just given.

[...]

Cowen stopped and looked back at the president to say, "That's your speech."

Obama laughed and returned to the podium...

A TURNING OF THE TIDE?

Fairfax County, Virginia, long a bastion of liberalism and the Democratic Party, had a turn around in this month's special election for a seat on the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors.

From this article in the Washington Post:
...Last week, the Republican pulled off something equally dramatic: winning a seat on the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors that had been occupied by a Democrat....

SOME IDEAS FOR REAL CHANGE

Click directly on the image to enlarge it:

How many of the above ideas have we heard from "hope-and-change" Barack Hussein Obama or the Democratic Party?

Saturday, September 20, 2008

LOOK OUT, FANS OF CHRISTIAN MUSIC!

The left is looking for ways to appeal to you and get you to vote for the Democratic Party:
Fans of Christian music, listeners to Christian radio, watchers of Christian TV -- you're very attractive, did you know that?

After years of living in a quiet, monogamous relationship with the Republican Party, you are being courted by the Democrats. These leftie operatives say it's not enough to be the de facto political party of Hollywood, with its nudity and violence. Now Barack Obama's supporters have a new frontier in their sights: Nashville, ...the literal and metaphoric capital of the gospel and contemporary Christian music industries, as well as a hot spot for Christian radio and TV. This, industry folks say, is a land populated by GOP-voting listeners.

[...]

We're talking rallies against global warming and capital punishment, at Christian music concerts. Obama ads on Christian radio. Consumers of gospel music getting bombarded with campaign literature from Democratic candidates.

That means the good people of Ohio will be peacefully listening to a radio preaching out of the Book of Revelation when suddenly -- " Jesus said, inasmuch as you did unto the least of these, you have done it to me" . . . calming instrumental music in the background . . . "As a Christian," says pro-life Democrat and former Ohio congressman Tony Hall, "Barack believes God calls us to care for those in need . . . "

That's a new radio ad scheduled to air on Christian radio in Ohio next week.

"We have people calling every Christian radio station; we want to know about their newsroom, what news services they use, how can we communicate with them...," drawls Burns Strider, a Mississippi native who led faith outreach for Hillary Clinton....
Much more here.

The Democratic Party scorned the Christian right for decades. But the Democratic Party isn't above pandering for the Christian-right vote: "Be a good Christian. Vote for Barack." Disgusting.

And I've noticed that this tactic is making headway. Specifically, I know several evangelical Christians, and they are arguing in favor of voting for Barack Obama and sporting Obama bumper stickers on their vehicles. One of these evangelical Christians even said, "I can't vote for McCain because his wife is Budweiser Beer." So, she'd rather vote for Barack HUSSEIN Obama even though she says that she believes he is a Moslem at heart. And, of course, she hasn't even bothered to research his stand on the issues which are important for this election and this time in America's history.

I realize that how citizens base their votes on is a topic of some contention and always has been. For me, that basis has been somewhat of a mystery. A responsible citizen should base his or her vote on the candidates' stand on the issues, not on some trivial sound bite. We'll find out in November if American voters are up to the task of being an educated citizenry.
