POST-ELECTION STRATEGY

Post-election euphoria on the part of the victors is normal. Euphoria, however, is not governance.

What are the realities of the American political situation once the new Congress takes office in January?

Let's talk specifics — feasible specifics.

NOTHING NEW UNDER THE SUN

Yes, this 2014 election cycle is a contentious one. It's tradition and predates the founding of America!

The Polling by William Hogarth (1697-1764)

From Folger Magazine:
Public fascination with elections is as old as politics itself. In the seventeenth century, the press was increasingly filled with election pamphlets offering advice on whom to vote for and even more importantly whom to oppose.

Printed election material originated in the 1640s, reflecting public interest in the political process, especially in a time of civil war and domestic upheaval. Secrecy surrounding politics had broken down; votes needed to be earned and voters persuaded. Elections became increasingly contested and divided along party lines.

Even voting itself was not a secret process in early modern England. The poll book, at right, published the names of all the voters in London and which candidates and party they voted for in 1710. Each voter was able to cast one vote (indicated at right by a dash) for each of the four seats up for grabs in their constituency. Some crossed party lines, but the vast majority followed a party ticket.

So, carry on.

In less than two weeks will begin the Monday morning quarterbacking, immediately followed by the pontificating about the next election, the 2016 National Election. It's like riding a political carousel.

RECOMMENDED PRE-ELECTION READING

From this recent essay by Tammy Swofford:
Troubling questions regarding Benghazi, a sexually exploitive campaign ad, and a politically charged film released two days before the election continue to raise reasonable concerns regarding the suitability of the current POTUS to remain in office.  [Soon], Americans may choose to strike the stage of the current administration through the simple act of going to the polls. As for myself, I cannot vote for a man who cannot be trusted to tell us the truth about Benghazi. I cannot vote for a man who allows vulgar ads and propaganda films as a means to massage his narcissistic cravings. I cannot vote for a devolving American president.

SURREAL SPIN

The following video of Robert Gibbs, political adviser to Obama and the Obama re-election campaign, speaking about notorious Soptic ad, runs about ten minutes in length, but well worth watching to the end when Gibbs shows the kind of hypocrisy that is legendary on the part of the Left:

TRAYVON MARTIN?

Note THIS INFORMATION about Trayvon Martin, the story on the national news lately. If the information to which I'm linking in this post is accurate, Obama should retract his statement:
"If I had a son, he'd look like Trayvon," Obama said in his first comments about the shooting...
Is the photo below a more up-to-date likeness of Trayvon Martin?

Read THIS LINK. If the information in that link is accurate, the media are suppressing information that contradicting their present agenda.

Furthermore, Jesse Jackson should be held accountable for his recent statement that Trayvon Martin was "shot in the back of the head," as I heard on CBS News this morning. Such is not the case at all! He was shot in the chest.

Jesse Jackson said more:
Jackson said he would like to see the black population turn its anger over the death of Trayvon Martin into an energy directed at voter registration, economic inequity and other issues of discrimination and racial injustice.

"I would hope that movement would turn into Trayvon Martin voter-registration rallies," Jackson said in a press conference following the Sunday service.
Aha! There stands one agenda related to the shooting of Trayvon Martin!

WHITE HOUSE SPAMS TWITTER FOLLOWERS

Backfired! The White House finally stopped, with these parting words:
Thanks for contacting your legislators, and for sticking with us through out tweeting today. We're done now, we swear.
Yep, they're done, all right.

More than 40,000 Twitter followers lost in one day.

What kind of President launches a Twitter war, anyway? This kind:
...The secret of Mr. Obama is that he isn't really very good at politics, and he isn't good at politics because he doesn't really get people....

ENFRANCHISING NONCITIZENS?

Such is a proposal is on the November 2 ballot in Portland, Maine:
...Portland residents will vote Nov. 2 on a proposal to give legal residents who are not U.S. citizens the right to vote in local elections, joining places like San Francisco and Chicago that have already loosened the rules or are considering it....

[...]

Opponents of the measure say immigrants already have an avenue to cast ballots — by becoming citizens. Allowing noncitizens to vote dilutes the meaning of citizenship, they say, adding that it could lead to fraud and unfairly sway elections....
Back in 2009, Atlas Shrugs posted the following:
Any shot for Americans to take back this country from the hard left in 2010/2012 is looking increasingly dim ....

Obama Justice Department Decision Will Allow Non-Citizens to Register to Vote in Georgia

Decision Bars Georgia From Continuing Voter Verification Process

Georgia Secretary of State Karen Handel issued the following statement following the U.S. Department of Justice’s denial of preclearance of Georgia’s voter verification process
Atlanta - “The decision by the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) to deny preclearance of Georgia’s already implemented citizenship verification process shows a shocking disregard for the integrity of our elections. With this decision, DOJ has now barred Georgia from continuing the citizenship verification program that DOJ lawyers helped to craft. DOJ’s decision also nullifies the orders of two federal courts directing Georgia to implement the procedure for the 2008 general election. The decision comes seven months after Georgia requested an expedited review of the preclearance submission.

“DOJ has thrown open the door for activist organizations such as ACORN to register non-citizens to vote in Georgia’s elections, and the state has no ability to verify an applicant’s citizenship status or whether the individual even exists. DOJ completely disregarded Georgia’s obvious and direct interest in preventing non-citizens from voting...
And we have elections in less than two weeks.

Just how corrupted is our election process?

THE WRITING ON THE WALL FOR NOVEMBER 2010

From U.S. News and World Report:
...Historically, presidents with approval ratings below 50 percent—Obama is at 45—lose an average of 41 House seats in midterm elections. This year, that would return the House of Representatives to Republican control. The Democrats will suffer disproportionately from a climate in which so many Americans are either dissatisfied or angry with the government, for Democrats are in the large majority in both houses and have to defend many more districts than Republicans. In any election year, voters' feelings typically settle in by June. But now they are being further hardened by the loose regulation that preceded the poisonous oil spill—and the tardy government response.

[...]

It is clear that the magical moment of Obama's campaign conveyed a spell that is now broken in the context of the growing public disillusionment. Obama's rise has been spectacular, but so too has been his fall.
How will Obama react to the coming meltdown of the Democratic Party's power?
