The “Shomrim” Haredi police uniformed police force in London has offered to protect mosques in the Hackney district following violent attacks on local mosques, the British edition of Huffington Post reported.I wonder if these are Satmar making the offer? And where were they when Lee Rigby was violently murdered by those two repugnant jihadists in London? As Israel Matzav says, this is shameful, although a commentor from the UK Jewish Defense League says that these aren't the official Shomrim, but appear to be a breakaway group using a similar name. Even so, this is a very embarrassing situation when Jewish groups support enemies who won't genuinely thank them.
The Shomrim regularly patrol the heavily Jewish populated area of Stamford Hills and often detain suspects until police arrive. The group’s origins are in New York, where the Shomrim organized after being tired of long response times of the local men in blue.
Muslim leaders met with Shomrim officials in a London area mosque to discuss mutual cooperation, promoted by Hackney councilor Ian Sharer, an orthodox Jew who helped found the Muslim-Jewish forum.
"In our ward, the three councilors are two Haredi Jews, and one religious Muslim. We have been friends for many years, and we get on every well,” he told Huffington. “This is a very serious situation, and so I thought, why not call my friends from Shomrim?”
The Muslims welcomed the offer and now have the Shomrim phone number to call if there is trouble.
Recent Muslim attacks have included arson on a community center and a homemade explosive device that was found at a mosque.

So the judge in the case of the murderer at Fort Hood entered one for him:
A military judge entered a not-guilty plea Tuesday for Ft. Hood massacre suspect Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, who is accused of the worst mass shooting ever at a U.S. military base.Hasan must be sent to the chair for his violent crime. Otherwise, it'll be a sign something is wrong with the justice system. And the judge was right not to give him more time to find another attorney, since he'd probably only use that time as another stalling tactic.
The Army psychiatrist, who is acting as his own attorney, had refused to enter a plea after the judge rejected his earlier attempts to plead guilty. Military law does not allow a guilty plea in a death penalty case.
In a pretrial hearing, the judge, Col. Tara Osborn, also denied Hasan's request for more time to decide whether to hire a new attorney. Hasan, 42, had asked for three more days to talk to Ramsey Clark, who served as U.S. attorney general under President Johnson, about an offer to serve as his defense lawyer, the Associated Press reported.
Osborn told Hasan he could hire a new lawyer only if he or she was ready for trial by July 9, when jury selection begins. She has also told Hasan’s former attorneys to stand by to help him if he asks for it.
Hasan, an American-born Muslim, contends he acted to defend the Taliban. He is charged with 13 counts of premeditated murder and 32 counts of attempted premeditated murder in the Nov. 5, 2009, shootings at the Texas Army post.
If convicted, he faces the death penalty or life without parole.
The trial is scheduled to start in August.

Middle East virus claims third life as fears of pandemic spread:

But with the annual Hajj pilgrimage due in October, and an estimated three million people travelling to Mecca, concerns are mounting that the deadly virus could spread swiftly.
"We need to get the facts clear and get the appropriate advice to all your countries where your pilgrims want to go to Mecca," said Margaret Chan, head of the World Health Organisation, in May. "It is something quite urgent."

IMHO: This proves that Obama's decision to help the Muslim Brotherhood and oust Mubarak was an idiotic waste which hurt us and our allies and Egypt.
I think Obama supports the Erdogan/AKP form of islamism: a gradualist approach - one that uses democracy as a means of taking and consolidating power. Erdogan said that "democracy is a train and you get off at your destination". Obama hoped the Egyptian MB would be like the Turkish AKP. Obama hopes the same for Syria and Libya and Afghanistan and Iraq. And the so-called "West Bank" and Gaza.
I oppose this policy because the "destination" is a bad and evil and anti-libertarian one; it is a totalitarian state, a tyranny - one intrinsically opposed to the West.
It's good to remember now that Nasser - Egypt's first military dictator - opposed the MB:

As the demonstrations in Egypt resume once again, more reports of rapes have surfaced. One of the most recent victims was a Dutch woman:
A journalist from the Netherlands has been raped by a group of men while covering the uprisings in Cairo's Tahrir Square, the same location where CBS News chief foreign correspondent Lara Logan was sexually assaulted and beaten by protesters in 2011, shortly after the fall of President Hosni Mubarak.It gets worse:
The attack was confirmed by the Dutch embassy in Cairo, who issued a statement  reading, "A Dutch woman of 22 was attacked in Tahrir Square on Friday evening. The Netherlands Embassy has assisted the victim, and after receiving emergency treatment in a Cairo hospital she was repatriated to the Netherlands in the company of family. The victim has cooperated with an investigation started by the Egyptian authorities. In the interest of the privacy of the victim, no further information will be given."
The chaotic moments leading up to the attack were reportedly captured in a video currently posted online [warning: graphic content ], in which a blond woman is seen being overpowered by a swarm of male protesters. Millions had gathered in the public space to demand the removal of Mohamed Morsi as Egypt's president.
News of the violent sexual assault that followed was first reported by Dina Zakaria, a journalist for Egypt 25 news channel. Writing on her Facebook page, Zakaria said  that the woman "was raped by men who dub themselves revolutionists" and that her "condition is severe and she is hospitalized."
"Mobs sexually assaulted and in some cases raped at least 91 women in Tahrir Square ... amid a climate of impunity," HRW, which is based in New York, said in a statement.They're not even trying to address it through legislation, because sharia puts the kibosh on even that. If these were anti-Morsi protestors who committed the obscene crimes, then it's hard to sympathise with any who would dare to assault women, making them no better than Morsi's own army of darkness. This is basically a case of Islam vs. Islam, with neither side knowing what they really want. And if they can only think of raping women who join the protest movement, then they may have made their beds in terms of freedom, because they wouldn't respect that of the fairer sex.
It cited figures from the Egyptian Operation Anti-Sexual Harassment/Assault, which runs a hotline for victims of sexual assault, showing that there were 46 such attacks against women on Sunday, 17 on Monday and 23 on Tuesday. [...]
Several women required surgical intervention after the attacks, some were "beaten with metal chains, sticks, and chairs, and attacked with knives," HRW said.
The government response has been to "downplay the extent of the problem or to seek to address it through legislative reform alone," whereas what is needed is for attackers to be brought to justice, HRW said.

Two people have been arrested in British Columbia accused of plotting to plant a bomb outside the provincial legislature on Canada Day, police say. John Stewart Nuttall and Amanda Marie Korody were self-radicalised and inspired by al-Qaeda, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police said. The two Canadians from Surrey, British Columbia, were arrested on Monday, which was Canada's national day. They are not believed to have been in contact with other militant groups.

WASHINGTON — The Obama administration announced on Tuesday that it would delay for a year, until 2015, the Affordable Care Act mandate that employers provide coverage for their workers or pay penalties, responding to business complaints and postponing the effective date beyond next year’s midterm elections.IF OBAMACARE WAS A GOOD PROGRAM, THEN THEY WOULD NOT DELAY IT AND THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN NO WAIVERS.
THIS DELAY IS AN ADMISSION THAT OBAMACARE IS A DISASTER.

Ron Lipsman is right, it's time for it to be scrapped:
Events since the infamous handshake on the White House Lawn (between Arafat and Rabin) have demonstrated conclusively that an Israeli withdrawal from Judea and Samaria (the biblical names for the West Bank area) would indeed represent an enormous, and likely irreversible, step toward the Arab-envisioned final solution to the Arab-Israel conflict -- namely, the destruction of the Jewish State. The Israeli withdrawals from Lebanon and Gaza have resulted in enhanced Arab aggression and intransigence and provide an unmistakable model for the horror that would rain down on Israel should Fatah/Hamas take control of Judea and Samaria.And the problem is that it could all take an epoch to do.
Despite the self-evidence of this assessment, Israeli leaders continue to pursue the chimera of a "two-state solution." Several (but especially Barak and Olmert) have offered the Palestinian Arabs virtually all that they might have expected under the Oslo accords. But in their blind hatred for the Jewish State, in their revealing lack of interest in setting up a new state of their own, and in their undying expectation that the Jewish state cannot hold out indefinitely, they have spurned the offers and continued to pine for the great Götterdämmerung that they expect must inevitably occur.
It is time for Israeli leaders -- indeed, for the whole nation -- to recognize the futility of Oslo, declare it a dead letter, and pursue a completely different path. It is time for Israelis to recognize reality, stop acting like they lost all the wars that they have won, and initiate a new strategy.
