ONCE AGAIN, THE NYTIMES EDITORIALIZES AGAINST FREE MARKETS AND IN FAVOR OF SOCIALISM

THIS TIME IN THE ART WORLD.

HOW THEY SEE THE "PROBLEM":
the art world’s ever rising valuations are a symptom of a growing imbalance in the American economy: the unprecedented concentration of the spoils of growth at the very top.
THEIR SOLUTION:
What’s needed, rather, is to build a social contract that will share economic rewards more equitably.
STALIN SAID THE SAME THING.

BTW: THEIR PREMISE IS FALSE:
According to a Congressional Budget Office (CBO) study released this month, the bottom fifth of families with children, whose average income in 2005 was $16,800, enjoyed a larger percentage increase in income from 1991 to 2005 than all other groups except the top fifth.
IT'S LONG PASSED TIME SOCIALISTS OPENED THEIR EYES AND STFU.

WHY?
  • BECAUSE EVEN IF THERE WAS A WIDENING INCOME GAP, INCREASES IN TAXES, REGULATIONS AND GOVERNMENT SPENDING WOULD NOT BE A SOLUTION.
  • THEY ONLY MAKE EVERYONE POORER - EVEN THE POOR.
  • NO!?!?!?
  • JUST LOOK AT CUBA AND ZIMBABWE AND NORTH KOREA.
  • AND REMEMBER THE USSR AND RED CHINA!
[NOTE: THE 1991-2005 PERIOD IS THE LAST FOR WHICH DATA WAS AVAILABLE.]

NYTIMES STILL PROMOTING THE GRAMSCIAN AGENDA

NYTIMES:
Through Sickness, Health and Sex Change

BACK WHEN Fran and Donald, now Denise, before their 1980 marriage.

THERE are ways in which the Brunners are like many other middle-aged married couples. Former high school and college sweethearts, they finish each other’s sentences and order the same food at restaurants. They shuttle their three children to sports practices, and laugh when their 90-pound Labrador retriever jumps onto the sofa to lick guests.

“We’re one of the few of our friends who are still in our original marriage,” Denise Brunner said.

But it is not exactly the same union, as evidenced by their marriage certificate, which they have enlarged to poster size to make the point. The original, from 1980, listed Donald Brunner as the bridegroom and Frances Gottschalk as the bride. But a sex-change operation in 2005 turned Donald into Denise. Fran stood by her spouse, and the couple secured an amended certificate, putting “Denise” next to “bridegroom” for lack of other options.

  • THE LEFT OPPOSES NATURAL LAW AND EVERYTHING TRADITIONAL IN ORDER TO REPLACE IT WITH AN AMORAL SOCIALIST STATE.
  • AN AMORAL STATE IN WHICH SAME SEX MARRIAGE IS THE NEW NORMATIVE AND TRADITIONAL PEOPLE LIKE YOU AND ME ARE TREATED LIKE MORONIC NEANDERTHALS.
  • A VOTE FOR ANY DEMOCRAT IS A VOTE FOR MORE OF THIS.
  • AND AN END OF THE WEST.

NYTIMES INVENTIVELY AND NEGATIVELY REPORTS ON FOOD STAMPS

NYTIMES:
Food Stamp Use at Record Pace as Jobs Vanish

Driven by a painful mix of layoffs and rising food and fuel prices, the number of Americans receiving food stamps is projected to reach 28 million in the coming year, the highest level since the aid program began in the 1960s.

The number of recipients, who must have near-poverty incomes to qualify for benefits averaging $100 a month per family member, has fluctuated over the years along with economic conditions, eligibility rules, enlistment drives and natural disasters like Hurricane Katrina, which led to a spike in the South.

But recent rises in many states appear to be resulting mainly from the economic slowdown, officials and experts say, as well as inflation in prices of basic goods that leave more families feeling pinched. Citing expected growth in unemployment, the Congressional Budget Office this month projected a continued increase in the monthly number of recipients in the next fiscal year, starting Oct. 1 — to 28 million, up from 27.8 million in 2008, and 26.5 million in 2007.

The percentage of Americans receiving food stamps was higher after a recession in the 1990s, but actual numbers are expected to be higher this year.

Er, um... so it's a PROJECTED increase which would still be well below recent historical levels as a percentage of US population. THERE IS NO "INCREASE AT A RECORD PACE"; that's entirely an invention of the NYTIMES.

Which means that there really is NO STORY HERE, once you take away the distortion designed to make things seem worse than they are

GEE: I WONDER WHY THE NYTIMES WOULD DO THAT!?!

DO NYTIMES REPORTERS GET A BONUS FOR EACH MENDACIOUS WORD THEY WRITE WHICH DAMAGES BUSH?

IT SURE SEEMS SO TO ME..

NYTIMES PROPAGANDA: IRAQ WAR WAS FOR ISRAEL

Look at the picture that the NYTIMES chose to run with their "grim milestone" story - (see below). SUBTLE? SUBLIMINAL? No, actually clumsy and too obvious:
U.S. Death Toll in Iraq War Hits 4,000

Courtest [sic] of the Agami family

Army Specialist Daniel J. Agami, 25, of Coconut Creek, Fla. More Photos >

It's the left-wing line: Bush went to war against raq for Israel. Even Obama advisor McPeak recently said as much.

Of course, other left-wingers say we went to war against Saddam for the House of Saud.

Don't ask for consistency or congruence: the left is insane. And they control the NYTIMES and most of the MSM.

That's why we see so much anti-USA, anti-Semitic, pro-AL Qaeda propaganda in the media. And make no mistake abut it: that's what this photo is ALL about - giving credence to the lies of the left and al Qaeda..

ATLAS - WHO GENEROUSLY LINKS HERE - WROTE THIS:

Reading down into the article (way down, almost near the end), it makes sense why he would be photographed in front of this flag: “He flew the Israeli flag over his cot in Adhamiya.” Given that Agami willingly fought for and died for this country, I don’t see anyone having a problem with his choice of decor.

What is a problem is the fact that the Times uses this particular photograph to illustrate an article about American troops who have died in Iraq. One simply can’t escape the impression that the Times is trying to send the subliminal message — a very strong subliminal message — that Americans are fighting and dying for Israel, not for America.

It would be nice to believe that the Times highlighted this particular photograph because its editors wanted to make the point that ours is an exceptionally pluralist army, made up of Americans representing the vast tapestry of race and religion that enriches America. Given the Times‘ political biases, though, it’s very difficult to escape the conclusion that some editor couldn’t resist making a political point...
EXACTLY!

MORE ANTI-WEST PROPAGANDA FROM THE POSTMODERNISTS OF THE NYTIMES: PUSHING DHIMMITUDE AND TRANSGENDER POLITICS

From DHIMMI WATCH, news that the NYTIMES MAGAZINE published a long paean to sharia. One which never once even mentions the word dhimmi. But it does have the temerity to call shariah one of the most liberal codes of law - one with an undeservedly bad reputation.

Also in the magazine this week: a paean to transgender politics.

What do both of these pieces have in common: they're Gramscian attacks on traditional Judeo-Christian culture and Western Civilization. Traditional families and religion are the foundational structures of Western Civilization. They get in the way of the socialist revolution.

The MSM and the Academy attack these structures constantly, brainwashing people into feeling that the West was always bad, and families and religion the sources of alienation and oppression.

The Left - according to the Gramscian agenda they've been employing for decades - attacks these traditional structures of culture in order to demolish them and replace them with the socialist state.

These two articles - selected by the gay left-wing editor of the NYTIMES MAGAZINE, in keeping with the basic editorial outlook of the NYTIMES - push that agenda. First by propagandizing about sharia, telling their readers that they have nothing to fear, that sharia is not as bad as the JOOOOOZE and NEOCONS say. Second by trying to get their readers to accept transgenderists as normal and in need of mainstreaming.

What makes it INSANE is that, in one article, the sharia they soft-peddle and want you to appease would punish by death the homosexuality and "transgenderness" of the second article.

It's beyond hypocritical; it's schizoid.

It's the Left. The folks who control the Democrat Party.

Vote accordingly.

The AP and the NYTIMES have been caught in another huge anti-McCain lie

THIS IS WHAT THE AP REPORTED:
McCain Flashes Temper at Reporter

By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
Published: March 7, 2008

Filed at 6:47 p.m. ET

NEW ORLEANS (AP) -- Republican Sen. John McCain, showing a flash of the temper he is known for, repeatedly cut off a reporter Friday when asked whether he had spoken to Democratic Sen. John Kerry about being his vice president in 2004. ''Everybody knows that I had a private conversation. Everybody knows that, that I had a conversation,'' McCain told the reporter. ''And you know it, too. No. You know it, too. No. You do know. You do know.''

The reporter, Elisabeth Bumiller of The New York Times, was following up on a question McCain had answered at a campaign event Friday morning in Atlanta. Asked if he might consider Kerry as a running mate, since Kerry asked him in 2004, McCain said no.

Afterward, on a campaign flight, Bumiller said she looked in the Times' archives and that McCain had denied talking with Kerry in a May 2004 story.

McCain interrupted, saying that everyone knew he had a private conversation, and he kept interrupting as she tried to follow up. McCain clearly was irate.

IS THE NYTIMES' MCCAIN SMEAR THE RUMOR THE LATIMES KEPT SECRET?

Back in October, 2007, there were rumors flying around that the LATIMES had a sexual scandal story against one of the candidates which it has on hold.

There was a lot of speculation - incluidng that it was about Hillary and her female chief aide.

NOW, THE NYTIMES PUBLISHES A BLATANT SMEAR AGAINST MCCAIN.

I wonder if the McCain smear by the NYTIMES (which had endorsed McCain months ago despite HAVING HAD THIS STORY AT THE TIME) is the same story the LATIMES kept buried?

And from the looks of it, it was kept buried because there's no THERE there; there is no scandal.

At least not involving McCain.

THE REAL SCANDAL IS THE EXTRAORDINARY BIAS OF THE MSM: Obama has been a corrupt lawyer for the Chicago Machine for a decade and deeply involved with an indicted slum-lord (REZKO - do a word search at this blog for the WHOLE slimy corrupt story) and no one will touch the story. The two CHicago newspapers have done several investigative pieces which are extremely disturbing - in that they reveal REAL corruption by Obama, but no one will "drive the story home; SURE: the NYTIMES did a single story on it and then dropped it - without ever confronting Obama; it was more like they ran it to inoculate him, than anything else.

COMPLETE RPUND UP AT MEMEORANDUM.

EVEN MORE PROOF THE MSM IS LEFTIST AND BIASED

BABALU: CNN: Be kind to castro
Michael Graham, blogging at The Natural Truth, brings us this disgusting but not surprising story about how CNN coached its anchors to treat the subject of fidel castro in an early morning email today.

I can now confirm independently that not only did such an email go out, here it is in its entirety:

From: Flexner, Allison
Sent: Tuesday, February 19, 2008 7:46 AM
To: *CNN Superdesk (TBS)
Cc: Neill, Morgan; Darlington, Shasta
Subject: Castro guidance

Some points on Castro – for adding to our anchor reads/reporting:

* Please say in our reporting that Castro stepped down in a letter he wrote to Granma (the communist party daily), as opposed to in a letter attributed to Fidel Castro. We have no reason to doubt he wrote his resignation letter, he has penned numerous articles over the past year and a half.

* Please note Fidel did bring social reforms to Cuba – namely free education and universal health care, and racial integration. in addition to being criticized for oppressing human rights and freedom of speech.
THIS LAST PARAGRAPH IS ALMOST IDENTICAL TO WHAT THE NYTIMES WROTE:
His record has been a mix of great social achievements, but a dismal economic performance that has mired most Cubans in poverty.

He succeeded in establishing universal health care, providing free education through college and largely rooting out racism.

But he never broke the island's dependence on commodities like sugar, tobacco and nickel, nor did he succeed in industrializing the nation so that Cuba could compete in the world market with durable goods.

Since the fall of the Soviet Union and the end of its aid to the island, Cuba has limped along economically, relying mostly on tourism and money sent home from exiles to get hard currency.
Very similar. Like Deval-Obama similar! I think the NYTIMES set the tone for the rest of the left-wing MSM to follow - they do almost everyday. The CNN memo is merely an instant when they got caught.
  • THEIR SOFT TAKE ON THE MURDEROUS TYRANT CASTRO IS THE PARTY LINE.
  • AND ALL IT'S BULL.
  • THERE IS PLENTY OF RACISM IN CUBA TODAY.
  • AND THE HEALTHCARE SYSTEM SUCKS.
  • AND EDUCATION!?!? SHEESH: WHAT GOOD IS IT IF YOU ARE NOT FREE TO READ AND WRITE WHAT YOU PLEASE.
APOLOGISTS FOR CASTRO ARE LEFT-WING SCUM. AND THAT'S MOST OF THE MSM. SCUM.

The NYTimes Continues Series Which Attempts to Smear Vets and the Military

The NYTIMES has an "anti-war"/anti-military PROPAGANDA series called WAR TORN - with yet another installment today.

The premise of the series has been thoroughly, if not ABSOFUC*INGLUTLEY disproved, yet they keep running with it.
Past Coverage

* WAR TORN; An Iraq Veteran's Descent; A Prosecutor's Hard Choice (January 20, 2008)
* WAR STORIES (December 30, 2007)
* NYC; A Soldier Home From War, And a Mother Fighting Hard (November 13, 2007)
* Surge in Number of Homeless Veterans Is Anticipated (November 8, 2007)
All of these attacks on the military and on patriotic vets who serve their nation and defend the Free World have been disproved.

Yet the NYTIMES persists - with all the irrational liberal zeal of a local newspaper attacking a private golf club for being men-only.

THEY ARE TRAITOROUS SCUM.

The truth is not as important to the NYTIMES as pushing their traitorous agenda.

Let's face it folks:
THEY ARE TRAITOROUS SCUM.

As LTG Sanchez said:
"The death knell of your ethics has been enabled by your parent organizations who have chosen to align themselves with political agendas. What is clear to me, is that you are perpetuating the corrosive partisan politics that is destroying our country and killing our service members who are at war." - LTG Ricardo Sanchez, former Commander MNF-Iraq (to reporters upon retirement October 2007).
THEY ARE TRAITOROUS SCUM.

No different than the Bezerkly scum who are now seeking to ban military recruiting offices from their city.
  • THEY HATE THE MILITARY.
  • THEY HATE THE FACT THAT THE USA IS THE DEFENDER OF THE WEST.
  • THEY HATE THE WEST;
  • THEY HATE JUDEO-CHRISTIANITY.
  • THEY ARE POSTMODERN LEFTISTS.
  • THEY EVEN HATE MODERNITY.
THEY ARE TRAITOROUS SCUM.

*******UPDATE: POWER LINE does a thorough and brilliantly reasoned analysis of the series and of the NYTIMES' Public Editor's DEFENSE of the series.

POWER LINE comes to the same conclusion - (though they don't quite express it as I do). If you want to read several well-written paragraphs - without CAPS or bullet points - then I highly recommend it.

NYTIMES SPINS ROMNEY'S VICTORY INTO A GOP IN DISARRAY

NYTIMES/NAGOURNEY:
Can anyone bring the Republicans together again?

The victory by Mitt Romney in the Michigan primary on Tuesday night means three very different states — with dissimilar electorates driven by distinctive sets of priorities — have embraced three separate candidates in search of someone who can lead the party into a tough election and beyond President Bush.

Mr. Romney won in Michigan, the state where he grew up, with a pointed focus on the slowing economy, which voters overwhelmingly identified as the top issue there. Senator John McCain of Arizona won New Hampshire last week with the backing of independent voters, who are so influential in that state. And Mike Huckabee of Arkansas won the Iowa caucuses powered by social conservatives who make up a substantial part of the population there.

On the most tangible level, the vote on Tuesday was proof from the ballot box of what polls have shown: this is a party that is adrift, unenthusiastic about any of its presidential candidates and unsure of how to counter an energized Democratic Party.
THIS IS PURE LEFTIST PROPAGANDA.
  • ROMNEY HAS WON 2 OF 4 STATEWIDE CONTESTS.
  • ROMNEY LEADS IN DELEGATES BY A HEALTHY MARGIN.
  • ROMNEY LEADS BY 60,000 VOTES.
  • ROMNEY RAN SECOND IN THE STATEWIDE RACES HE DIDN'T WIN.
  • ROMNEY IS THE ONLY GOP CANDIDATE WHO HAS RUN IN ALL THE RACES AND PLEDGES TO RUN A NATIONAL CAMPAIGN.
ROMNEY IS THE FRONT-RUNNER.

AND THE DEMOCRAT PARTY IS HARDLY ENERGIZED:
  • THE PERSONAL ATTACKS THE CANDIDATES HAVE HURLED AT EACH OTHER HAVE VERGED ON THE RACIST AND SEXIST.
  • THEY'RE RUNNING ON CLASS WARFARE, RACE WARFARE AND GENDER WARFARE - DIVIDING THE ELECTORATE IN SHAMEFUL WAYS.
  • AND THE DEMOCRAT CONGRESS HASN'T DONE BUPKUS.
I THINK THE GOP IS IN GOOD SHAPE.

AND IF IRAQ CONTINUES TO IMPROVE THE DEMS DON'T HAVE A CHANCE - UNLESS THEY AND THEIR COMRADES IN THE MSM - CAN CONVINCE THE ELECTORATE THAT RAISING TAXES WILL HELP THE ECONOMY AND AMELIORATE A DOWN-TURN.

A MOST "INCORRECT" PERSPECTIVE

I note that even American conservative bloggers seem very reluctant to discuss the realities of race in their country. There has been a very effective "silencing" on that topic. For instance, I don't think that anyone who has lived among American blacks (as I have) would be remotely surprised by the black IQ statistics but I have yet to hear any American say that. I am therefore a little dumbfounded but very pleased at the frankness of the post below. Post lifted from Prairie Pundit. See the original for links

The New York Times found 121 cases in which veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan committed a killing in this country, or were charged with one, after their return from war. In many of those cases, combat trauma and the stress of deployment - along with alcohol abuse, family discord and other attendant problems - appear to have set the stage for a tragedy that was part destruction, part self-destruction.

Three-quarters of these veterans were still in the military at the time of the killing. More than half the killings involved guns, and the rest were stabbings, beatings, strangulations and bathtub drownings. Twenty-five offenders faced murder, manslaughter or homicide charges for fatal car crashes resulting from drunken, reckless or suicidal driving.

The war has clearly made some of the anti war pukes at the NY Times crazy. This wretched story seeks to exploit the acts of troops who have committed crimes since they returned to the state and suggest that the war made these people do what they did. It is an insult to all the troops who serve honorably and act with honor and dignity when they return home.

The Times could write a similar story about young black men in New Orleans who have experienced much less trauma and yet have killed scores more people than the troops in this story and that is in just one town of less than half a million people and most of the people they are killing are other young black men.

There are many other cities in this country where young black men have killed more young black men than these soldiers have killed and without ever going to Iraq or Afghanistan. The PC culture of the NY Times does not want to give that story the same treatment it is giving these troops because it does not want to be accused of smearing a race or a city, but the Times is willing to smear the troops in order to pursue its desperation for defeat in Iraq and because of its hatred of the Bush administration. They should be ashamed.
There is a more comprehensive rebuttal of the NYT claims here

[RELIAPUNDIT ADDS: THE BEST REBUTTAL I HAVE READ - FROM A LINK AT INSTAPUNDIT YESTERDAY - IS BY DANZIGER AT WINDS OF WAR.

NYTIMES/AP PUBLISH OVERLY NEGATIVE DECEMBER RETAIL SALES REPORT

I say overly negative because they concentrate on APPAREL stores which had a ESPECIALLY lousy December because the fashion sucked.

But they SPIN the story to make things seem very bad overall - AN INACCURATE PICTURE.

The non-apparel stores in the NYTIMES/AP NEGATIVE HIT PIECE actually did okay or very well.

HERE:
An already weak holiday shopping season turned out to be even worse than expected for many of the nation's retailers, who reported Thursday they had sluggish sales results for December. The disappointing performance raised more concerns about consumer spending.

The weak results came from across all retail categories, but particularly hard hit were apparel sellers including Limited Brands Inc. and teen retailer Pacific Sunwear of California Inc. Among the few bright spots was Wal-Mart Stores Inc., which posted results that exceeded Wall Street expectations, as it benefited from shoppers traded down to cheaper stores amid higher gas prices and a slumping housing market.

''It's weaker than expected,'' said Jharonne Martis, a retail analyst at Thomson Financial. ''There's definitely a consumer spending slowdown.'' But she added that she's waiting to see how sales fare in January, when stores benefit from consumers redeeming their gift cards. Retailers don't record sales of gift cards until they are redeemed.

According to a preliminary sales tally by Thomson Financial, 16 retailers missed projections, while seven beat forecasts and one met expectations. The tally is based on same-store sales or sales at stores opened at least a year which are a key indicator of a retailer's health.

Wal-Mart, the world's largest retailer, posted a 2.4 percent increase in same-store sales, exceeding the 1.8 percent forecast of analysts polled by Thomson Financial. But the discounter said that its fourth-quarter results will be ''pressured by higher interest expense'' compared to last year.

Costco Wholesale Corp. reported a 7 percent increase in same-store sales, better than the 5.6 percent estimate.

Limited [APPAREL ONLY] posted a 8 percent drop in same-store sales, worse than the 4 percent Wall Street expected.

Maternity apparel retailer Mothers Work Inc. reported that same-store sales fell 7.6 percent, worse than the 0.5 percent analyst estimate.

Pacific Sunwear of California posted a 2.8 percent decline in same-store sales, a little bit better than the 3.1 percent forecast.

  • The declines were all apparel.
  • This was already well known.

The MSM wants people to think things are worse than they are in order to hurt Bush and the GOP.

NYTIMES NEGATIVELY SPINS CHRISTMAS RETAIL NUMBERS

REUTERS:
U.S. specialty apparel retailers saw sales rise 3.6 percent in holiday shopping, at the lower-end of expectations, according to data released on Tuesday by SpendingPulse. ... "It's more at the lower end of the expected range but more or less in line with the reduced expectations coming into the holiday season," Michael McNamara, vice president of Research and Analysis for MasterCard Advisors, said.
NOT BAD: IN LINE WITH EXPECTATIONS, AND MORE THAN LAST YEAR.

AP:
Just weeks ago, the holiday shopping season seemed headed for disaster. But in the waning hours before Christmas, the nation's retailers got their wish -- a last-minute surge of shopping that helped meet their modest sales goals, according to data released late Monday by research firm ShopperTrak RCT Corp.

And with post-Christmas shopping to come, some malls and stores were downright optimistic.

...
ShopperTrak said late Monday that total sales on Saturday reached $9.36 billion, up a robust 7.6 percent from $8.7 billion on the same day a year ago. That surge will put stores on track to at least meet its forecast of a 3.6 percent sales gain for the season, according to ShopperTrak.

For the Friday through Sunday period, total retail sales soared 18.7 percent from the year-earlier period, though the increase was inflated because Christmas Eve fell on a Sunday a year ago, according to ShopperTrak. Dollar figures were not available for this past weekend.

Scott Krugman, a spokesman at NRF, noted that the season is turning out as expected: The final days before Christmas and the week after Christmas ''determine the holiday season.''

He expects total holiday sales will meet NRF's growth forecast of 4 percent.
NOT BAD: IN LINE WITH EXPECTATIONS, AND MORE THAN LAST YEAR.

THEN THERE THE NYTIMES: Disappointing Sales During Holiday Season - By MICHAEL BARBARO
American consumers, uneasy about the economy and unimpressed by the merchandise in stores, delivered the bleak holiday shopping season retailers had expected, if not feared, according to one early but influential projection.

Spending between Thanksgiving and Christmas rose just 3.6 percent over last year, the weakest performance in at least four years, according to MasterCard Advisors, a division of the credit card company. By comparison, sales grew 6.6 percent in 2006, and 8 percent in 2005.
  • THIS HIT-PIECE ON RETAIL BY BARBARO IS AN OBJECT LESSON IN NEGATIVE SPIN.
  • ALL IT PROVES IS THAT BARBARO KNOWS HOW TO GET FRONT PAGE INK AT THE NYTIMES: PLEASE KELLER AND PINCH: GO NEGATIVE ON AMERICA.
THE REAL STORY IS THAT DESPITE HIGH ENERGY COSTS, A RELENTLESSLY NEGATIVE MSM SPIN
  • ON THE IRAQ WAR,
  • AND ON GLOBAL CLIMATE,
  • AND THE ECONOMY,
  • AND INTERNATIONAL REGARD FOR THE USA,
  • AND ON PRIVACY ISSUES, ETC:
THE US CITIZEN IS IN A GOOD HOLIDAY GIFT-GIVING MOOD.

YUP: DESPITE THE NAY-SAYING FROM THE LEFT, THE AMERICAN SPIRIT PREVAILS AGAIN.

BOTTOM-LINE: THE NYTIMES IS TO CHRISTMAS RETAIL SALES WHAT HARRY "WE'VE LOST" REID IS TO THE SURGE.

SHEESH: NYTIMES WORRIES ABOUT WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO CUBA'S ECOLOGY AFTER FIDEL PASSES FROM THE SCENE...

NYTIMES:
Through accidents of geography and history, Cuba is a priceless ecological resource. That is why many scientists are so worried about what will become of it after Fidel Castro and his associates leave power and, as is widely anticipated, the American government relaxes or ends its trade embargo.

... “an invasion of U.S. consumerism, a U.S.-dominated future, could roll over it like a bulldozer” when the embargo ends.

In a report last year, the World Wildlife Fund said that “in dramatic contrast” to its island neighbors, Cuba’s beaches, mangroves, reefs, seagrass beds and other habitats were relatively well preserved. Their biggest threat, the report said, was “the prospect of sudden and massive growth in mass tourism when the U.S. embargo lifts.”
  • IN THE BATTLE FOR HUMAN FREEDOM AND DIGNITY, THE LEFT CHOOSES TO WORRY ABOUT THE ECOLOGY.
  • THIS IS NOT SHOCKING IN AS MUCH AS IT COMES FROM THE SAME FOLKS WHO THINK HAVING CHILDREN IS BAD FOR THE ECOLOGY.
THE LEFT IS LOST IN A DESERT OF CULTURAL RELATIVISM AND GAIA WORSHIP - AND IS ENTIRELY WITHOUT A MORAL COMPASS.

NYTIMES RIDICULES FORMER ATHEIST WHO FOUND GOD

THE NYTIMES RIDICULES FORMER ATHEIST WHO FOUND GOD - AND OF COURSE THEY DO IT JUST IN TIME FOR CHRISTMAS ...

NYTIMES:
In 2001, rumors started to hit the blogosphere that Antony Flew, a British philosopher born in 1923 [AND ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT AND INFLUENTIAL ATHEISTS IN THE WORLD], had found God after six decades of atheism.

At first Flew denied the reports. But in May 2004 he
told a conference in New York that he had indeed changed his mind and become a believer. A flurry of online pundits debated the meaning of this shocking conversion.

...It is unclear whether Flew has lost the desire to reason effectively or whether he no longer cares what is published in his name.

Either way, it seems that this lost sheep remains rather lost.

JUST LOOK AT THE CARICATURE THE NYTIMES CHOSE TO RUN WITH THIS "REVIEW" -

DEPICTING THE MAN WHO WAS, UP UNTIL HIS CONVERSION, THE MOST IMPORTANT ATHEIST IN THE WORLD IN FRONT OF UFO'S AND THE LIKE!

  • SHALLOW ATTACKS LIKE THESE ARE ALL YOU CAN EXPECT FROM THE LEFTIST DOMINATED MSM AND NYTIMES THESE DAYS:
  • "PETRAEUS = BETRAY US"; BUSHITLER; IRAQ=VIETNAM; ACROSS-THE-BOARD TAX CUTS = GIVING MONEY TO THE WEALTHY; AGW SKEPTICISM = HOLOCAUST DENIAL; AND SO ON.

  • TO ME, THE ODDEST PART OF THIS "REVIEW" WAS THIS: THEY CALL A MAN WHO FOUND GOD "LOST".

THEY ARE TOTALLY WRONG: THE GRAMSCIANS ARE THE ONES WHO ARE TRULY LOST, FLAILING IN A NIHILISTIC WORLD OF THEIR OWN MAKING. NOT GOD'S.

NYTIMES PUTS NEGATIVE SPIN ON CHRISTMAS RETAIL SALES

FROM DAY ONE, THEY PUT A NEGATIVE SPIN ON IRAQ.

SO WE SHOULDN'T BE SURPRISED THAT THEY COMPLAIN THAT THE CURRENT CHRISTMAS RETAIL CLIMATE IS BAD, TOO. THEY'LL DO ANYTHING THEY CAN TO HURT BUSH. LIKE TODAY; NYTIMES/REUTERS:
Retail Traffic Up With Spending

Deep discounts and extended hours drew more than 147 million shoppers to U.S. stores over the four-day Thanksgiving holiday shopping period, but average consumer spending fell, a retailers' group said on Sunday.

The results from the National Retail Federation's 2007 Black Friday Weekend Survey were attributed to the economic uncertainty facing consumers and tough comparisons with last year.

Black Friday is the day retailers try to lure consumers to start their holiday shopping with eye-popping discounts and early-bird specials. It once marked the day retailers turned a profit, or went into the black, for the year.

The survey, which included data from Thursday to Saturday and projections for Sunday, showed customers spent an average of $347.44, down 3.5 percent from $360.15 last year.

But the decline was offset by a 4.8 percent increase in the number of shoppers, making the weekend's total spending results "extremely similar" with last year, said federation spokeswoman Ellen Davis.

The federation did not give a figure for total spending.

While fears about lower home values, a shaky stock market and higher costs for food and fuel could have played some role, Davis said the decline was more due to the focus this year on mid-priced items like laptop computers and digital photo frames, versus last year's emphasis on expensive high-definition televisions.

"It takes a lot of $400 laptops to reach the same level as the $1,300 high-definition TV," Davis said.
THEIR NEGATIVE SPIN - THE NEGATIVE HEADLINE WHICH IS INTENDED TO PRECONFIGURE THE VALUE OF THE STORY - IS ALL BS.

HERE'S BREITBART/AP - WITH LESS NEGATIVE SPIN:

The nation's shoppers set aside worries about higher gas prices and a slumping housing market and proved their resilience over the Thanksgiving weekend, giving what the nation's merchants wished for—a strong start to the holiday shopping season.

Stores and malls opened the season as early as midnight, drawing bigger-than-expected crowds Friday for discounted flat-panel TVs, digital cameras and toys such as all things related to Disney Channel's "Hannah Montana." Strong sales continued through Saturday, according to one research group that tracks total sales at retail outlets across the country.

Clearly, the biggest draw was electronics, benefiting consumer electronics chains like Best Buy Co. and discounters such as Wal-Mart Stores Inc. and Target Corp. Popular-priced department stores including J.C. Penney Co. and Kohl's Corp. drew in crowds with good deals. Toy stores like Toys "R" Us Inc. fared well too. Still, apparel sales appeared to be mixed at mall-based clothing stores, though a cold weather snap helped spur sales of outerwear and other winter- related items.

"This was a really good start. ... There seemed to be a lot of pent-up demand," said Bill Martin, co-founder of ShopperTrak RCT Corp., which tracks total sales at more than 50,000 retail outlets. ShopperTrak reported late Sunday that sales on Friday and Saturday combined rose 7.2 percent to $16.4 billion from the same two-day period a year ago.

Total sales on Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, rose to $10.3 billion, up 8.3 percent from the same day a year ago. Martin had expected increases no greater than 5 percent.

NEW DURANTY TIMES LAUDS COMMIE ATOM SPY; Putin admits Russia couldn't have made the bomb on its own

In a remarkable, and remarkably disgusting front-page hagiogram, the New Duranty Times celebrated on November 12th, the day the Federal government observed as Veterans' Day, the life an career of a Jewish-American communist, George Koval, who was posthumously honored by Vladimir Putin as a Hero of the Russian Federation.

There are a number of interesting items in the Times story, but let's highlight the most important right away:

First of all, by awarding this signal honor to an atomic spy who "penetrated the Manhattan Project to build the atom bomb," Putin is acknowledging that the Soviet Union would not have been able to come up with the bomb on its own, but was only able to do so by piggy-backing on the work done by American & European-refugee scientists in the United States. This fact underscores the significance of the Soviet espionage operation in America, and the damage done by high-ranking traitors such as Alger Hiss and Harry Dexter White.

Second, the tone of the article is completely adulatory, and the Times seems to admire and approve the criminal actions by which George Koval enabled the Soviet Empire to impose and maintain its hegemony over 300 million victims by nuclear blackmail against the West. Even at this late date, the Times continues the work of Walter Duranty in aiding and abetting Stalinism and its successors.

Koval was born in 1913 and raised in Sioux City, Iowa. His parents believed in the Soviet lie, and emigrated to the Siberian Jewish "homeland" of Birobidjan in 1932.

By 1934, Dr. Koval was in Moscow, excelling in difficult studies at the Mendeleev Institute of Chemical Technology. Upon graduating with honors, he was recruited and trained by the G.R.U. and was sent back to the United States for nearly a decade of scientific espionage, from roughly 1940 to 1948.

How he communicated with his controllers is unknown, as is what specifically he gave the Soviets in terms of atomic secrets. However, it is clear that Moscow mastered the atom very quickly compared with all subsequent nuclear powers.

In the United States under a false name, Dr. Koval initially gathered information about new toxins that might find use in chemical arms. Then his G.R.U. controllers took a gamble and had him work under his own name. Dr. Koval was drafted into the Army, and by chance found himself moving toward the bomb project, then in its infancy.

The Army judged him smart and by 1943 sent him for special wartime training at City College in Manhattan. Considered a Harvard for the poor, it was famous for brilliant students, Communists and, after the war, Julius Rosenberg, who was executed for conspiring to steal atomic secrets for the Soviets.

But Dr. Koval steered clear of all debate on socialism and Russia, Dr. Bloom said. “He discussed no politics that I can recall. Never. He never talked about the Soviet Union, never ever, not a word.”

RTWDT for a glimpse into the blind naivety of American authorities, and the pro-communist adulation of the New Duranty Times.

And don't forget that a lonely and persecuted Senator Joe McCarthy tried vainly to get the communists --and those who protected them-- out of the State Department and the Department of the Army.

The Soviet empire was built, among millions of other crimes, on the lies and deceptions of traitors like George Koval.

As other posts tonight will show, we are still vulnerable to enemy spies. Stay tuned.

Reliapundit adds: GREAT post! BTW: I did a word count on this article and of the 1668 words only one is "betrayal" or treachery or traitor or any other word with a negative connotation for Koval's actions. The rest is PRAISE. Very telling. Especially since this is the man MOST responsible for the arms race - for BILLIONS if not TRILLIONS spent during WW3/The Cold War. If he hadn't done what he did do then maybe all the people SOLD into slavery by Alger Hiss would have been freed decades earlier.

NYTIMES - PAGE 19: "AL QAEDA DEFEATED IN BAGHDAD"

WHY PAGE 19 AND NOT THE FRONT PAGE?

WELL, IT'S BAD NEWS TO THE NYTIMES.

IT DOESN'T ADVANCE THEIR AGENDA.

"INCREASING INCOME DISPARITY" IS A BOGEYMAN OF THE LEFT

BRILLIANT POST ABOUT INCOME DISPARITY AND THE IDIOTIC LEFTISM OF PAUL KRUGMAN AT DOUG ROSS'S PLACE. CHECK IT OUT - IT'S GOT LOADS OF LINKS AND PLENTY OF FULL COLOR GRAPHS!

My two cents: There was no income disparity in Mao's china - everyone was freakin' poor, ('cept fer the party biggies!)

Starting in 1980 when Teng Xiao Ping (sic???) took over, income disparity INCREASED.

However, this was outweighed by the vast gains in the standard of living for ALL.

Less-fettered freemarkets have always and will always outperform more fettered ones with statist redistribution schemes & regimes because ... prosperity is a by product liberty.

HOW & WHY!? Simple:

When people are free to make and buy and sell whatever they want, then they make and buy and sell more. Then the pie grows and the QUALITY of the goods and services constantly improves.

You know what you wanna buy and what you wanna pay for it better than any elite. As Reagan said, "You know how to spend your money better than the government." An empowered and free consumer is the real economic engine. Taxes and regulations make the engine stall.

An economy with the lowest possible taxes and the least possible regulations will grow at the fastest possible rate.

If statist economic controls, high taxes and free trade barriers were still in place in the USA, then the misery index would be in Carter territory and we'd all still be driving Pintos.
