The judge hearing the criminal trial of former President Hosni Mubarak has ordered testimony from the top two military officers now running the country.

It was not clear whether the two officers, Field Marshal Mohamed Hussein Tantawi and Gen. Sami Enan, had been forewarned of the judge’s move or would agree to appear.

The judge, Ahmed Rafaat, stipulated that they would testify under the strictest secrecy. Not only did he order the men to testify in a closed session but he barred news organizations from reporting any information that might leak from the sessions.

9-11 is a day of mourning, just like the Holocaust and other war-related tragedies

Pamela Geller writes about the Obama administration's latest propaganda efforts, and makes a good point that 9-11 is a day of mourning, not a day of service, as Obama's putting it. Well, he's certainly not going about it the right way. To do a true service to the victims would be to remember who it was who murdered them. That's not what the left is actually trying to do.

Bradley Blakeman, who lost his nephew, court officer Thomas Jurgens, on 9-11, has written on Fox News about how, 10 years after the tragedy, there is still no justice for the victims:

While I cannot speak for all victims of 9/11, I can speak for one.

On the eve of the 10th anniversary of the attacks to our homeland, our nation still has not brought 5 admitted perpetrators to justice, Ground Zero still remains to be rebuilt and Shanksville Pennsylvania is without a finished memorial to the victims of United Airlines Flight 93.

There can be no justice unless and until those responsible for the horrific attacks are held to account for their crimes and there on can be no peace for the souls who died on 9/11 until the day Ground Zero is fully and completely restored and Shanksville Pennsylvania has a finished memorial to the victims of Flight 93.

How is it possible that our government has not been able in 10 years time to bring admitted killers to justice? There is no good answer.

How is it possible that the greatest most advanced nation on the planet has been unable to restore a few blocks in lower Manhattan to its former glory and have not been able to build a fitting memorial in Shanksville Pennsylvania in 10 years time? There is no good answer.

Our government has let us down. We should have moved swiftly to bring those responsible to justice and we should have moved with due speed as a national priority to rebuild Ground Zero and erect a fitting memorial to victims of Flight 93 in Shanksville Pennsylvania.

To add insult to injury the Obama administration in advance of the 10th anniversary sent out "talking points" to their personnel instructing them to advance the position that the attacks are "not just about us." Weren't we the ones attacked on 9/11? The memo went on to instruct officials to "minimize references to Al Qaeda" because bin Laden is dead and "Al Qaeda and its adherents have become increasingly irrelevant."

Wasn't it bin Laden who ordered the attacks and wasn't it Al Qaeda who carried them out? And if Al Qaeda is irrelevant why then do we have 100,000 U.S. troops fighting them in Afghanistan?

Who is the administration seeking to console and protect on this anniversary -- the victims or the perpetrators, sympathizers and collaborators?

We as Americans can do anything we put our collective minds and hands to. After all, America has always been the beacon of freedom, hope and justice for the world.

It has been said, "justice delayed is justice denied." The fact that America has yet to mete out justice swiftly, fairly and surly to those responsible for the horror of 9/11 has been hurtful to our nation. It calls into question our ability to practice what we preach and to stand true to our Constitution and the rule of law.

The fact that we as a nation did not demand the Ground Zero be rebuilt in record time and that a fitting memorial be erected in Shanksville is a national disgrace.

As an attorney I am ashamed; as an American I am embarrassed and as a relative of a victim I am outraged by our governments failures to bring 9/11 perpetrators to justice and to rebuild and memorialize the sites of the attacks to date.

The enemy that attacked us on September 11, 2001 and those who continue to plot against us -- did so and do so -- because they hate America and all we stand for. They hate our freedom, tolerance, multi-cultural, multi-religion tolerance, our rule of law and our power.

As a former employee of the Dubya administration, I hope he realizes that Dubya too has to shoulder some blame for not working properly on his part to identify the cause of the problems and not making a proper effort to oppose Islamofascism in America. Other than that, Blakeman's op-ed is very good and brings to light the continuation of some very serious problems. Especially the denial of justice.

In a related note, Rep. Michael Grimm is planning to introduce legislation to make the steel cross found at Ground Zero into a national monument.

Update: Sen. Joe Lieberman has said something straightforward: Obama is harming the war effort by refusing to call violent Islamic extremism what it is.

DAX Tumbling, Greece Facing "Hard Default"

The DAX - the German exchange - has fallen 3.65% so far today. After losing 3.4% on Friday. And an unidentified senior IMF analyst warns that Greece will soon face an uncontrolled "hard default" -

According to a senior IMF economist who wasn’t identified, Greece will likely face a “hard default” well before March 2012.

It could happen during 2011, and perhaps after the current round of negotiations. This acknowledgement from someone very close to the matter in a body that is heavily involved in the bailout, is quite worrying.

The current talks are around the first bailout, agreed more than a year ago. Greece definitely missed its targets. The EU /IMF delegation suspended its visit to Greece after discovering that the deficit will be higher. They are expecting fresh steps to be taken by the Greek government.

The Greek government says any more steps will only deepen the recession and make things even worse. The debt trap is quite clear at this stage.

Representatives of the International Monetary Fund, European Central Bank and European Commission left Greece without reaching any agreement, since the Greek government has failed to meet the commitments promised at the time of the first bailout.

IHH MOTIVATIONS UNMASKED

The Palmer report in the UN exposes how the IHH flotilla was not set up for humanitarian purposes, despite being biased in favor of the flotilla fiends:

The United Nation’s Palmer report, leaked last week, exposes the IHH’s flotilla last year as having no humanitarian motives and clearly shows that there is no “humanitarian crisis” in Gaza, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu’s office stated Saturday night.

The report said that Israel was within its legal rights to stop the Mavi Mamara ship that carried IHH terror activists who brutally assaulted Navy commandos who boarded the ship. The Palmer report charged that the commandos used unnecessary force to defend themselves, an accusation Prime Minister Netanyahu said is wrong.

He noted, “Israeli soldiers boarded the vessels with non-lethal means and with no intention of causing any harm. When they were brutally attacked by dozens of violent IHH activists armed with clubs, knives and steel pipes, the Israeli soldiers were forced to defend themselves. After many soldiers were injured during the operation, nine of the IHH members who were endangering IDF soldiers were killed.

“It should be emphasized that beyond ratifying the legality of the blockade, the report determines that there is no humanitarian crisis in Gaza, and that anyone interested in sending humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip must do so in coordination with Israel and the Palestinian Authority, and must transfer the aid via the land crossings.

“This naval blockade {on Hamas-controlled Gaza] was put into place to prevent the smuggling of missiles and other weapons to Hamas, a terror organization which controls Gaza and is supported by Iran. Over the last few years, Hamas has fired over 10,000 rockets and mortar shells with the objective of striking Israeli civilian targets.”

The Prime Minister also stated that the manner in which the commandos boarded the vessel was not “excessive and unreasonable,” as claimed in the Palmer report.

Joseph Ciechanover, an Israeli representative on the Palmer committee, added, “The Report rightly finding serious questions about ‘the conduct, true nature and objectives of the flotilla organizers, particularly IHH,’ notes that they planned ‘in advance to violently resist any boarding attempt’ and classifies the decision to breach the blockade of Gaza as a ‘dangerous and reckless act,’ which ‘needlessly carried the potential for escalation.’

“The Panel confirmed that video footage showed that passengers were wearing ‘bullet proof vests, and carrying metal bars, slingshots, chains and staves’ and that this information ‘supports the accounts of violence given by IDF personnel to the Israeli investigation.’

“The Panel further confirms that ‘two soldiers received gunshot wounds, three soldiers were captured, mistreated, and placed at risk’ and that ‘seven soldiers were wounded by passengers, some seriously.’”

Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Salam Fayyad expressed “deep concern” over the report Saturday night. He said that calling the naval blockade legal is “appalling” and “encourages Israel to continue to violate the rights of our Palestinian people, particularly in the Gaza Strip.”

I guess Fayyad doesn't really care about his "people" at all; he just sees them as tools for propaganda warfare. Though the Palmer report is apparently (and for the UN, unsurprisingly) biased, it yet manages to expose the Turkish villains for what they are.

The Turkish Navy will bolster its presence in the eastern Mediterranean Sea to prevent Israeli operations, Turkish officials said over the weekend, as the crisis between Jerusalem and Ankara intensified following the publication of the Palmer Report on last year’s flotilla conflict.

“A more aggressive strategy will be pursued. Israel will no longer be able to exercise its bullying practices freely,” a Turkish diplomatic source was quoted as saying in the Hurriyet Daily News. The source said that the navy would accompany ships bringing aid to the Gaza Strip.

Sixty people have been arrested after English Defence League (EDL) members clashed with police in east London.

Police said 16 arrests were made during a demonstration by the group, while 44 people on a coach were held later on suspicion of violent disorder.

The protest went ahead despite a ban on marches in the area, with police estimating 1,000 EDL supporters and 1,500 counter-protesters had gathered.

Missiles were thrown by activists as 3,000 police tried to maintain control.

The EDL had claimed the ban on marching sent out "completely the wrong message" and insisted a static demonstration would go ahead.

Dominique Strauss-Kahn, the embattled former head of the International Monetary Fund, emerged on Saturday afternoon from a building in TriBeCa where he had been staying for the past few months, dragging heavy pieces of luggage and loading them into the back of a dark blue van.

Accompanied by his wife, Anne Sinclair, Mr. Strauss-Kahn got into the van, grinning as a crowd of photographers rapidly clicked the shutters of their cameras. A moment later the van headed east, apparently bringing to a close a bizarre chapter that began in May, when Mr. Strauss-Kahn was arrested on a plane that was about to depart for France and hauled back to Manhattan where he was charged with the sexual assault of a housekeeper at a Midtown hotel.

France's latest corruption bombshell exploded across party lines Monday as Dominique Strauss-Kahn, once economic czar in the Socialist government, admitted that he had had possession, in 1998 while he was finance minister, of a videotape accusing President Jacques Chirac of taking kickbacks.

A French tax lawyer said that he had given the tape to Mr. Strauss-Kahn as part of a deal in which his client, the fashion magnate Karl Lagerfeld, got a tax fine of 300 million francs ($40 million currently) reduced to 50 million francs by the Finance Ministry.

When he got the tape in 1998, a year before he was forced to resign from the government in another scandal, he was hoping to become mayor of Paris. The tape would have been a powerful weapon against his conservative foes because it contains the confession of a party operative about what he said was a system of corruption starting in the 1980s when Mr. Chirac was mayor of Paris.

Rep. Mike Coffman (R-Colo.) is asking President Obama to immediately suspend the U.S. Peace Corps program in China, where American volunteers are restricted to teaching English in Chinese universities.

Coffman said he was “shocked” to learn on a recent trip to China that millions of U.S. taxpayer dollars are being used to defray China’s higher-education costs, at a time when the U.S. government is short of money to fund its own higher education system.

“Education in China is under a state-run system; our contribution of teachers to the university systems means we are subsidizing the cost of the system for the Chinese government and borrowing the money from them to do it,” Coffman wrote in a recent letter to his colleagues, urging them to join him in cutting unnecessary and wasteful government spending.

Coffman says the Obama administration is spending $2.9 million in fiscal year 2011 to fund the Peace Corps program in China, and it has requested an increase to $4.7 million to fund Peace Corps operations in China for FY 2012....

The 2011-2012 school term has begun or will begin shortly in the United States, with many school budgets "under water," resulting in increased pupil-to-teacher ratios, cutbacks on materials, etc.

But we are paying to educate children in China and Obama wants even more funding to do so?

If more Americans knew what was really going on under the Obama administration, people would be out in the streets and calling for his impeachment - or, at the least, working very hard to make sure that Obama doesn't get re-elected in 2012.

Evergreen Solar Inc., the Massachusetts clean-energy company that received millions in state subsidies from the Patrick administration for an ill-fated Bay State factory, has filed for bankruptcy, listing $485.6 million in debt.

Evergreen, which closed its taxpayer-supported Devens factory in March and cut 800 jobs, has been trying to rework its debt for months. The cash-strapped company announced today has sought a reorganization in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Delaware and reached a deal with certain note holders to restructure its debt and auction off assets.

Getting a sense of déjà vu yet? Just last month, we heard that an electric car company in Salinas padlocked their doors after half a million dollars from state and local governments.

A month before that, electric car company Think Global AS filed for bankruptcy, too.

Think Global AS plans to liquidate its assets, according to a statement from its exclusive battery supplier, Ener1 Inc.

Ener1, which engineers and makes its batteries in the Indianapolis area at its EnerDel subsidiary, notified investors Wednesday that the company would take a charge of more than $32 million on unpaid loans and accounts receivable from Think Global.

Hollywood Propaganda is Still Effective

Remember those heroic WWII action films they used to show on Saturday morning TV, like "Bataan," or "A Walk in the Sun," that helped boost morale and motivate Americans to fight?

Well Hollywood can still produce propaganda films that deliver -- only now they are doing it for the other side:

A Balkan Muslim who killed two U.S. Air Force servicemen in March has told a German judge Wednesday that he was motivated after seeing the movie “Redacted,” which was made as a political statement in 2007 by Hollywood director Brian De Palma, Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban and several high-profile movie industry producers.

Arid Uka told the judge that that he murdered the two Americans in March after he watched the movie’s graphic depiction of U.S. soldiers raping a girl in Iraq, according to a BBC report. “I thought what I saw in that video, these people would do in Afghanistan,” he said, the BBC reports.

“What I did was wrong, but I cannot undo what I did,” Arid Uka told the court in Frankfurt.

Of course, the big names who produced and directed the film just don't understand how that could have happened:

“I honestly had not heard about it,” said one “Redacted” producer, Jason Kliot. “I’m terribly sorry to hear that, but I don’t understand how my movie would impel anyone to commit murder,” he said.

“The real culprit here is the tragedy of war, it is not Brian De Palma’s brilliant film,” he said.

“I don’t see how people would be made to commit acts of violence [after watching “Redacted”], any more than they would for watching Fox News,” Kriot said.

Of course not, but that must have been the point, because the movie never made a dime, it was a labor of leftist love:

The movie was widely praised in the movie industry and by left-of-center cultural groups. The movie and De Palma won awards at the 2007 Venice Film Festival, and it received a “Youth Jury Award” from the 2008 Amnesty International Film festival.

But the movie made little money when it was released in Spain and in fifteen U.S. theaters.

The producers, including Mark Cuban, and the director, should be prosecuted.
