Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said Monday that “all hell has broken out” over his bid to seek statehood recognition at the United Nations this week over objections from the United States.

... Abbas said that full membership at the United Nations is necessary because no progress was being made in bilateral negotiations. Israel has said that they will negotiate only if there are no preconditions to the discussions, something that the Palestinians have declined to accept.

SO THE FACT IS THAT ABBAS IS PUSHING AHEAD DESPITE KNOWING THAT HE CANNOT CONTROL THE CONSEQUENCES AND THAT ALREADY "ALL HELL IS BREAKING LOOSE."

AND HE ARGUES THAT HE HAS TO DO THIS BECAUSE THEY CAN'T GET WHAT THEY WANT THROUGH NEGOTIATIONS - NEGOTIATIONS THAT ABBAS REFUSED TO JOIN BECAUSE ISRAEL REFUSED TO GIVE INTO TO ANY OF THE PRECONDITIONS ABBAS SET FOR NEGOTIATIONS.
