“There’s a bias in our Congress and government against manufacturing, or at least indifference to us, especially on the coasts,” said Senator Sherrod Brown, Democrat of Ohio. “It’s up to those of us in the Midwest to show how important manufacturing is. If we pass a climate bill the wrong way, it will hurt American jobs and the American economy, as more and more production jobs go to places like China, where it’s cheaper.”

This brown state-green state clash is likely to encumber any effort to set a mandatory ceiling on the carbon dioxide emissions blamed as the biggest contributor to global warming, something Mr. Obama has declared to be one of his highest priorities.

Mr. Obama has said he intends to press ahead on such an initiative, despite opposition within his own party in Congress and divisions among some of his advisers over the timing, scope and cost of legislation to curb carbon emissions.

The centrist Democrats who urge a slower-paced approach represent states that are crucial electoral battlegrounds and that stand to lose the most from such regulation. They say they believe that global warming is a serious threat and they will support legislation to address the problem — but not at the expense of their already-strained workers and industries.

These Democrats are concerned, they say, that climate bills will be written by committees in the House and Senate led by two liberal California Democrats, Senator Barbara Boxer and Representative Henry A. Waxman, and shaped by Mr. Obama’s team of environmental and energy advisers, virtually all of whom are from California or the East Coast.

Struggling automakers will face billions in costs to produce greener cars under Obama's rules

President Barack Obama wants automakers to make greener cars at a time when General Motors and Chrysler are hanging by the thread of a massive government loan and auto sales have plummeted to their lowest levels in more than two decades.

Obama's plans could bring smaller cars, more hybrids and advanced fuel-saving technologies to showrooms, but car shoppers will probably pay more upfront because the new rules are expected to cost the hamstrung industry billions of dollars.

"The consumer needs to understand that they will see significant increases in the cost of vehicles," said Rebecca Lindland, an auto analyst for the consulting firm IHS Global Insight. Her firm estimated the upgrades could add $2,000 to $10,000 to the price of a vehicle.

Hillary's husband's "foundation" took money from foreigners and foreign governments. This creates a conflict of interest for the Secretary of State.

Holder - the next USAG - helped give pardons to FALN terrorists and to a fugitive from justice Marc Rich - a pardon which was sold.

Richardson got caught using a corrupt pay-for-play angle with a state contractor so he withdrew.

Rahn Emanuel the WHCOS got to the House by "getting" Blagojevich's seat when Hot Rod ascended to the guv's mansion. NUFF SAID - 'cept to say Rahmbo and the Chicago Machine are like DIS! And er um... he was on the Freddie Mac Board - which is a disaster like Fannie Mae.

Valerie Jarret - the Obamessiah's advisor was a partner and lawyer for Rezko.

Rezko is a convicted criminal who was Obama's earliest and BIGGEST financial supporter.

PELOSI: Well, the family planning services reduce cost. They reduce cost. One of those - one of the initiatives you mentioned, the contraception, will reduce costs to the states and to the federal government.
STEPHANOPOULOS: So no apologies for that?
PELOSI: No apologies. No. we have to deal with the consequences of the downturn in our economy.

Now, to be fair, I think Pelosi is saying she believes that funding abortions and birth control will "reduce costs to the state" in that, if the Federal Government pays for them, the states won't have to.

But, the endgame is still the same; when the Democrats think, "How can we help stimulate the economy?", one of the first places their minds go is, "Let's fund abortions."

That's just not where my mind goes when I think of how to help people. If that's what you think of, then you have every reason to be happy you voted Democrat.

If not, then welcome to the new reign of Moloch in America, where our government is invested in making sure there are less people as a means to stimulating the economy, as a means to "reducing costs to the state."

"Highest anti-Semitism rates in 2 decades" - BUT IT'S THE JOOOOZE OWN FAULT!

The number of anti-Semitic attacks around the world during Israel's three-week military operation against Hamas in Gaza was up more than 300 percent compared to the same period last year, reaching a two-decade high, according to figures released Sunday by the Global Forum Against Anti-Semitism.

The words 'Jew dog assassins' and 'terrorist' and a swastika-defaced Star of David appear in spray paint in Caracas, Venezuela, last week.

The Israeli forum's annual report, released ahead of Tuesday's International Holocaust Remembrance Day, also cited the "conspicuous" comparisons being made between Israel's actions against Hamas in Gaza and those of Nazi Germany during the Holocaust.

More than 250 anti-Semitic incidents were reported around the world during the 22-day assault on the Islamic regime in Gaza, which began on December 27, compared to 80 during the same period last year, according to the report.

The bulk of the incidents were carried out in Western Europe and were led by local Muslims, including 100 each in France and Britain, the report found.

SIXTH HUMAN CASE OF BIRD FLU IN CHINA SO FAR THIS YEAR

China said Sunday a 29-year-old man had been infected with bird flu, the country's sixth case in just three weeks, sparking fears of an outbreak as the nation celebrated the Lunar New Year.

The patient, surnamed Zhou, fell ill on January 15 in the southwestern province of Guizhou, the country's Ministry of Health said in an online statement.

He tested positive for the deadly H5N1 strain of the virus and was in a critical condition, the statement said.

Zhou is the sixth person to have become infected with bird flu in three weeks. Four of those patients have died from H5N1.

He had been exposed to live poultry before he fell ill, according to the ministry.

I did an analysis of it when it appeared at "Mitchell report missed it." I called it "a great disappointment." A couple of excerpts:
it reveals the would-be peacemaker´s typical unwillingness to judge right and wrong.… Not wanting to offend, in other words, creates an illusionary balance of blame ("Fear, hate, anger, and frustration have risen on both sides," says the report) that makes it impossible to distinguish between aggressor and victim, between right and wrong.

the Mitchell report suggests that Israel "should freeze all settlement activity" to mollify the Palestinians. This is a step the Israelis never agreed to, even when negotiations were under way. To do so now rewards the Palestinians for engaging in violence, something objectionable in principle and ineffectual in practice.

the report emphasizes getting the two parties back to the negotiating table, as though this were an end in itself. It seems oblivious to the important fact that negotiations over the past eight years did not bring the parties closer to a settlement but, to the contrary, exacerbated differences and had a role in the outbreak of violence.

I found that Mitchell and his committee were "myopically unaware of the real issue at hand, which is not violence, or Jewish settlements, or Jerusalem. It is, rather, the enduring Arab reluctance to accept the existence of a sovereign Jewish state."

I suggested that, the real solution "lies not in getting the parties back as fast as possible to diplomacy, but in instilling in the Palestinians an awareness of the futility of their use of violence against the Jewish state."

Second, how can one take seriously yet another diplomatic initiative? Here is a partial listing of diplomatic initiatives undertaken since 2001:

Albert Einstein defined insanity as "doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." Could someone explain to me how that definition does not apply to this fifteenth effort? Does anyone wish to wager on its chances for success?

PA COURT TO EXECUTE "SPY FOR ISRAEL"

The bad George Mitchell is coming here to Israel as an envoy. But will he take notice of the following?

(IsraelNN.com) A Palestinian Authority (PA) court has sentenced a 28 year old PA policeman to death for allegedly spying for Israel, and the Legal Forum for the Land of Israel thinks the United States envoy to the Middle East should be aware of this human rights violation.

The convict, a resident of the El Aroub neighborhood, was found guilty of assisting the IDF in the elimination of a terrorist in 2002, during the siege of the Church of Nativity. The convict served in the Presidential Guard in Bethlehem at the time. In addition, he allegedly assisted the IDF to arrest other terrorists.

I have a feeling that Mitchell will not take notice of this, but it is serious. No one who helps to fight against evil should be allowed to suffer a grisly fate as Mahmoud Abbas' gang is planning for the man mentioned.
