The arrest by PET of 2 brothers from Somalia on Terror charges was barely worth noticing - since the Muhammad Cartoons, Denmark has been under a constant threat from Islamic extremists.  What is troubling is the fact that Al Shabaab is actively recruiting terrorists from Scandinavia, and even paying for their airline tickets to the African Horn.  And the funds for these activities  are coming from the lucrative PIRACY trade being plied off the coast of Somalia. And Western Naval Powers are doing almost nothing to smash the pirate bases.

If you pay attention to business news lately  you may have noticed that whenever  auctions for Government Bonds in Greece, Italy, and now also Spain, reach a 6.5% - 7% interest rate ( the rate increases to appeal to reticent investors...) it is met with hysterical warnings that these economies are approaching an untenable situation. (Let's ignore the fact that their situation probably is already untenable, and that Banks  are borrowing billions from Central Banks at near 0% interest rates to buy these bonds - all in an attempt to save the collective balance sheet of the entire Banking Sector...)

My simple question is this: how can banks charge ordinary customers 9%-24% interest rates when 7% is considered too much for a Nation to carry?

Demonstrators furious that Hosni Mubarak's last prime minister made it into the run-off for the country's presidential election set ablaze his campaign headquarters on Monday, underscoring the divisive outcome of the nation's historic vote. 

The campaign offices of Ahmed Shafiq, viewed as a symbol of Mubarak's rule, were set on fire after a group of protesters broke into and vandalized the premises, the state news agency reported. An official in the fire service confirmed the blaze had been extinguished without causing any casualties.

IF KOFI ANNAN REALLY ABHORS ASSAD'S MASSACRES, WHY IS HE TRAVELING TO MEET WITH HIM?

One of Syria's latest mowdowns of people around the country has cost 108 lives. Assad's demonic slaughters has even led to condemnation from Russia. But just how far does that condemnation go? Specifically, why is former UN chief Kofi Annan going to Syria to meet with Assad to have an argument about the horrors the Syrian despot's been stooping to?

United Nations special envoy Kofi Annan arrived on Monday in Damascus to meet with Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad on the heels of a weekend massacre that left more than 100 people--including what appeared to be "rows of bloody children"--dead.

The U.N. said at least 108 people were killed on Friday in the town of Houla--49 of them children. The Syrian government blamed rebel gunmen for the attacks, dismissing the suspicions of international watchdog groups and others that pro-regime forces were involved.

On Sunday, the U.N. Security Council condemned the killings "in the strongest possible terms" and called for an independent investigation.

"I have come to Syria at a critical moment in this crisis," Annan said in a statement upon his arrival. "I am personally shocked and horrified by the tragic incident in Houla two days ago, which took so many innocent lives, children, women and men. This was an appalling crime, and the [U.N.] Security Council has rightly condemned it."

Annan said those "must be held accountable."

"I understand that the government is also investigating," he said.

Does he really buy that? Assad's gang is responsible, and he's conducting and allowing these massacres, so how pathetic of Annan to take what they say at face value.

Assad has come under intense scrutiny from world leaders in the wake of amateur video, released over the weekend, that showed "a room crammed with the mangled and bloody bodies of children--some with their skulls torn open," CNN said. According to the Associated Press, another video later video "showed the bodies, wrapped in white sheets, being placed in a sprawling mass grave."

"I intend to have serious and frank discussions with President Bashar Al-Assad," Annan said. "Our goal is to stop this suffering."

More than 9,000 people have been killed since the uprising began in early 2011, according to U.N. estimates.

He added: "It must end and it must end now. I urge the government to take bold steps to signal that it is serious in its intention to resolve this crisis peacefully, and for everyone involved to help create the right context for a credible political process. And this message of peace is not only for the government, but for everyone with a gun."

According to the Associated Press, Syrian troops killed 24 people early Monday in a shelling in Hama.

What Assad's forces did was abominable. But Annan is tragically and predictably naive to think that merely talking to Assad will convince the tyrant to cease the jihad he's conducting. His talk of a "process" is just classic defeatism at its worst. The only way to stop the slaughter is to depose of Assad once and for all, and until Islamofascism is shed in Syria, it'll need an outside type of government to oversee the country's rebuilding. But Annan and the UN are not the ones to work on it, due to their naive approach and incompetence.

Today is the 70th anniversary of the Farhud, a "violent dispossession" or pogrom against Iraq's Jews which took place on June 1, 1941.

Haj Amin al-Husseini, the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem and one of the initial members of the Muslim Brotherhood, became a Nazi agent after meeting Adolf Eichmann, an architect of the Holocaust, in 1937. 

With Nazi funds al-Husseini organized the Arab Revolt of 1936-39, which led to the British stopping Jewish immigration to modern day Israel. This facilitated the "Final Solution" by closing off the avenue of refuge. In 1941, the mufti orchestrated a short-lived, Nazi-backed generals' coup in Iraq. The coup was followed by the Farhud, a pogrom against Baghdad's Jews.

The Mufti obtained Hitler's assurance in November 1941 that after dealing with the Jews of Europe, Hitler would treat the Jews of the Middle East similarly.

SALAFIST POLICEMAN IN GERMANY SUSPENDED FOR CONNECTIONS TO RADICALS

The German authorities have done the right thing and put an inciter's career on hold:

BERLIN – Authorities in the west German city of Duisburg suspended an officer who is a member of a growing radical movement of Islamists in the Federal Republic because he misused his access to confidential domestic intelligence information in connection with the observation of the Salafi group.

“It is a very, very serious case,” said a spokesman for the Interior Ministry of North Rhine-Westphalia, according to a report last week in the Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung (WAZ).

The suspended officer is named Ali K. German media frequently do not release the last names of suspects. The WAZ reported that Ali K’s police functions could have been compromised because he was supposed to monitor Salafists. Ali K. had contacts to radical Islamic preachers who advocate hate, the newspaper said.

The radical group of German Salafists is considered as rejecting the democratic structure of the Federal Republic and propagating violence against non-Muslims, specifically women, gays, and Jews.

The authorities first discovered the 31-year-old Ali K.’s pro-Salafist activity last month when he registered for a permit allowing an information booth to give out Salafist literature in a public place. According to the WAZ, Essen police president Stephania Fischer-Weinsziehr believes he will be “dismissed from the civil service.”

They'd be strongly advised to move ahead with his dismissal at once. This is certainly taking a lot more responsibility than the authorities in Britain are.

WORTH CONSIDERATION

Via Breitbart, here's news of a pre-teen who's raising money for a special monument in Normandy for WW2 veterans.

Besides being a very inspiring story, I'd say it's worth considering that Americans who really do care about Europe's fate - what with the Islamization of the continent - might want to something special in another way for Europe as well: back in WW2, they fought the nazi machine in combat. In today's environment, why not help Europeans by campaigning for drafting laws that can help defend their continent against Islamofascism, by forming special delegations that can travel to Europe and give speeches and courses and most importantly of all, speak before parliaments?

I'd say it's an idea that needs to be very strongly considered since this is something that affects America's future as well. After all, to defend against evil ideologies needs more than to be fought in combat, it needs to be fought on the legal front as well. It's something that even families of Islamic terror victims could help work on.

So I do hope this is an idea that'll be taken up as soon as possible.

First the good news: a movie by an anti-semitic comic won't be screened there (Hat tip: Big Hollywood):

The Anti-Defamation League on Friday welcomed a decision by the Cannes Film Market to drop from the screening lineup a film from controversial French comic Dieudonne M’Bala M’Bala, whom the group called anti-semitic.

The film, entitled The Anti-Semite or Yahod Setiz, was produced by the Iranian Documentary and Experimental Film Center. The ADL said it "reportedly pokes fun at the Nazi concentration camp Auschwitz, where an estimated 1.5 million Jews perished during the Holocaust, and features Dieudonne as a violent and alcoholic character dressed as a Nazi officer for a fancy dress party...."

"Our general conditions ban the presence of all films threatening public order or religious convictions, as well as pornographic films or those inciting violence," Jerome Paillard, the market's executive director, told the AFP.

And that leads us to the bad news: the man telling this clearly has no distinction between criticism of religion and attacks on race. If criticism of religion is not allowed, then by that logic, neither is criticism of ideologies like what M'Bala adheres to. How does Paillard explain that?
