OBAMACARE FAIL

Forget the hope of those high-risk pools for health insurance:
Funds run low for health insurance in state ‘high-risk pools’

Tens of thousands of Americans who cannot get health insurance because of preexisting medical problems will be blocked from a program designed to help them because funding is running low.

Obama administration officials said Friday that the state-based “high-risk pools” set up under the 2010 health-care law will be closed to new applicants as soon as Saturday [February 16] and no later than March 2, depending on the state....
A delay in applying to a high-risk pool has been inevitable for some:
[T]he pools are open only to people who have gone without insurance for at least six months.
One of my dearest friends in my small circle of friends lost his health insurance (employer based) on January 1. The health insurance company stated that federal regulations precluded the company's viability to operate, so the company went under.

The end result for my friend: after decades of having health insurance coverage, he now is forced to go without any coverage for six months so as to be eligible for a high-risk pool.

Catch-22.

Obamacare is a scam, the goal of which is the redistribution of wealth.

Welcome to the gulag.

OBAMACARE REALITIES

Let us understand some of what ObamaCare requires by 2014, unless, of course, one chooses to pay the tax instead of ponying up for health insurance.

I did research on the topic of availing this household of the "cheap ObamaCare policies" in 2010, shortly after ObamaCare was thrust upon our nation by Congress and the Obama administration. At that point in time, Mr. AOW was paying $584/month, and I, in the same age bracket, was paying $256/month for our separate private policies. The difference in those premiums is attributable to Mr. AOW's having pre-existing conditions even before his stroke [We have had health insurance all of our married lives, some 40 years], whereas I do not have any pre-existing conditions. Each of our policies at that time had an in-network deductible of $2500/year with a maximum of $5000/year in-network out of pocket. No prescription coverage whatsoever was included.

Those ever-touted-by-the-Left "cheap" health insurance policies" mandated by ObamaCare and subsidized by the government in 2010 went begging, that is, people were not signing up.  It's easy to understand why if one considers the above.

So, how do those "cheap ObamaCare" policies scheduled to go in force in 2014 work?  What I have gleaned so far about taking preemptive action in advance of 2014....

The Climate Change Scam: $250 billion hangs in the balance

A wonderful coincidence occurred last week. Al Gore, during his Nobel Peace Prize acceptance speech, said:

We, the human species, are confronting a planetary emergency, a threat to the survival of our civilization that is gathering ominous and destructive potential even as we gather here...

However, despite a growing number of honorable exceptions, too many of the world's leaders are still best described in the words Winston Churchill applied to those who ignored Adolf Hitler's threat, and I quote, "They go on in strange paradox, decided only to be undecided, resolved only to be irresolute, adamant for drift, solid for fluidity, all-powerful to be impotent."

Hmmm. So the thousands of scientists (many of whom are prominent climatology experts) that disagree with anthropogenic global warming (AGW) are Nazi appeasers? Interesting -- and I'm glad we haven't resorted to name-calling. There's just one problem. AGW appears to be a complete and utter scam. A hoax. A money-making bonanza for Al Gore and his UN compatriots, to be sure, but a hoax nonetheless.

Gore's proselytizing for climate hysteria revolves around the dubious "carbon offset" trading business.

Put simply, a wide range of respected scientists, environmentalists, researchers, agriculturalists, and activists believe that carbon offsets are a "scam", "fantasy", "fiction", "nonsense", "fraudulent" and worse. And they've been saying so since 2000, though to read the newspaper you wouldn't know it.

And more new evidence that the hysterical posturing -- upon which the scam is built -- has arrived. EIB reports:

...Writing in the International Journal of Climatology of the Royal Meteorological Society, professor David H. Douglass (of the University of Rochester), professor John R. Christy (of the University of Alabama), Benjamin D. Pearson and professor S. Fred Singer (of the University of Virginia) report that observed patterns of temperature changes ('fingerprints') over the last 30 years disagree with what greenhouse models predict and can better be explained by natural factors, such as solar variability. The conclusion is that climate change is 'unstoppable' and cannot be affected or modified by controlling the emission of greenhouse gases, such as CO2, as is proposed in current legislation.

Oops. Is there a return authorization number Gore can use for that Nobel? I'm pretty sure he'll get his deposit back, though.

In all seriousness, the future of the carbon offset business -- a potential $250 billion bunko scam -- hangs in the balance.

I'm taking bets on which side Al Gore, his pal Michael Milken, and troubled fundraiser Anthony ("the walking ethical cloud") Coelho are banking on.

Y2K AND AGW: PHONY MEGA-DISASTERS AND AL GORE

In 1999 Vive President Al Gore was "the White House contact" for James Koskinen, the man in charge of our nation's response top the impending Y2K DISASTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Er um, that was the mega-hyped disaster that never was... you know: all our computers were gonna fail cuz they were too dumb to figure out how to read "2000" - or /00 - and they would just SHUT DOWN!

GORE 1998:
And we're here today to discuss what we all need to do to ensure that technology continues to be a path to prosperity and not a source of new problems, especially on the day when the calendar turns on the year 2000.

I'm speaking, of course, about the so-called year 2000 problem which, as everybody knows -- well, unfortunately, not everybody does know it -- but as many people know, and certainly everyone in this auditorium knows, it could cause serious problems for commerce and communications all over the world if we're not serious about fixing it.

... But as a result the flawed programs were replicated by each successive generation. And over time they built up and today we have hundreds of millions of computers and devices and tens of billions of imbedded chips that will not accurately read -- many of which will not accurately read the year 2000. When you have that many of them, if only a small percentage of them don't accurately read the date, then the world has a problem. And unless the old lines of code are fixed, the problems, of course, will be serious.

...The year 2000 problem is a management challenge and a programming challenge. It must not be a political football. We need bipartisan cooperation to solve the year 2000 problem, not political rhetoric. More than anything else, the year 2000 problem has revealed how interconnected and interdependent we have become. As software has evolved, so has our society. We're all in this together and we must solve it together.
The nation spent like.... $300BILLION - and every cent of it was a WASTE.

A fraud. A total trumped up phony baloney disaster that never happened.

THOUGH MANY MANY PEOPLE MADE A LOT OF MONEY FROM IT. Like the HUMONGOUS profit on that $300 BILLION.

SO... FAST-FORWARD...

It's 2005 and what have we here??? Al Gore running around the world scare-mongering up another PHONY BALONEY MEGA-DISASTER: MAN-MADE GLOBAL WARMING!!!!!!!

And of course, there's no shortage of folks who can help - FOR A FEE, and hence the whole dang new business called CARBON TRADING.

There's probably TRILLION$ to be made on this bulls*it.

Al Gore learned a big lesson from Y2K: scaremongering can be cool way to make a fast buck.

AL GORE: GLOBAL SNAKE-OIL SALESMAN.

*******UPDATE: THE CARBON "SCAMMING" MARKET IS BIG AN GETTING BIGGER:
IETA says 2007 carbon market could hit $70 billion

Reuters, 10 December 2007 - The market for trading in carbon emissions will probably be worth $60 to $70 billion this year, the head of an industry group said on Monday, upping an earlier estimate as the market drew new investors.

Andrei Marcu, President of the International Emissions Trading Association, said an official figure would be released next year but activity was likely to be above a $60 billion estimate made earlier this year.

"It is going to hit somewhere between 60 and 70 billion dollars, these are substantial numbers which I think shows the approach of the greenhouse gas market is a success," he told a news conference on the sidelines of U.N. talks about tackling climate change in Bali.

The vast majority of this comes from the European European Union's Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS), but the market for credits from the developing world is also expected to more than double, said Dirk Forrester from emissions and renewable energy asset management firm Natsource.

Under the Kyoto Protocol's Clean Development Mechanism (CDM), rich nation polluters can pay for clean-up schemes in poorer countries and earn credits to put towards their domestic quotas.

Last year alone around $5 billion worth of credits were traded, though developing countries and investors say the market needs to grow.

Employment Scams

Kate Coble of Just Another Pretty Farce has written about her experiences with a "head hunter" company by the name of J. L. Kirk & Associates, or Kirk Associates, or JL Kirk, or JLK, or JLK-A, or sometimes just “Kirk“. Bob Krumm came up with all those Kirk names in another delightful and witty post called Kirked.

Beware of head hunters who make you pay a fee to sign on with them. Reputable companies pay the head hunters to do talent searches. A job seeker should never pay a fee to an employment agency or a head hunter.

The comments at Just Another Pretty Farce include other tales of woe and a comment ostensibly from the "head hunter" at J. L. Kirk.

Let me note that J. L. Kirk is suing Kate and her husband for the blog post.

H/T Instapundit who is having a link fest with this whole episode. After you have looked at the above links go to Instapundit for more fun.
