THE HORROR OF KRISTALLNACHT

It may be the anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall today, but another thing that may not be as well known to some in the west is that November 9 also marks the time when "Kristallnacht" took place around the beginning of WW2 and the Holocaust. Here's an article about it by a writer whose family was there at the time of that horror:

(IsraelNN.com) Throughout the Jewish world, commemorations are being held during this period of Kristallnacht, the Night of Broken Glass, which took place exactly 71 years ago. The murderous violence and destruction of that night, in which 100 Jews were killed, over 250 synagogues were destroyed, and tens of thousands of Jewish businesses vandalized, marked the beginning of the Holocaust.

It also marked the deportation of close to 30,000 Jewish men from Germany and Austria to concentration camps.

This too is something important to remember. See also this article reporting that swastikas were scrawled on Jewish synagogue in Dresden, a warning of how the hatred from the nazi era has not gone away.

SON OF NEO-NAZI WISHES HIS FATHER HAD DIED

The son of James Von Brunn, who murdered the guard Stephen Tyrone Johns at the US Holocaust Memorial, says he wishes his father had died instead of the guard:

Also on Thursday, von Brunn's 32-year-old son, Erik, released a statement to ABC News, condemning his father's beliefs and actions, and decrying the results of his father's shooting attack.

"I cannot express enough how deeply sorry I am it was Mr. Johns, and not my father who lost their life yesterday [Wednesday]," wrote Erik. "It was unjustified and unfair that he died, and while my condolences could never begin to offer appeasement, they, along with my remorse is all I have to give."

Erik, who grew up in the shadow of his father's hatred, also offered advice to Aryans, "For the extremists who believe my father is a hero: it is imperative you understand what he did was an act of cowardice," Erik wrote. "To physically force your beliefs onto others with violence is not brave, but bullying. Doing so only serves to prove how weak those beliefs are. It is simply desperation, reminiscent of a temper tantrum when a child cannot get his way."

I'm glad the son realizes the wrongness of his father's way. The vile bastard should be put to death for the murder he committed, and not provided with medical attention at all.

JUST WHAT IS THIS WHITEWASH?

The Jerusalem Post has a clip about a movie in the works that seems to be a whitewash of a member of the family of a nazi collaborator, Haj-Amin el-Husseini, and doubtlessly of the main monster himself:

Freida Pinto, the Indian actress who starred in the Oscar-winning movie, "Slumdog Millionaire," arrived in Israel last week ahead of shooting for a new film by critically acclaimed writer-director Julian Schnabel.

Schnabel, whose recent film, "The Diving Bell and the Butterfly" won awards and praise, will begin shooting his next project, "Miral," a joint French-Israeli production in April.

The movie is set in Jerusalem, and it chronicles Hind Husseini's effort to establish an orphanage in the city following the creation of the state in 1948. It is scheduled to be released in 2010.

Although the filming does not start for another month, Pinto arrived early in order to get into character, the production team said.

I may have once seen a movie directed by Schnabel years ago. If he's pulling a whitewash of one of the most horrific creatures to walk the face of the earth, I will never waste my time on his crap ever again.

LOST QURAN ARCHIVE IN GERMANY

A facinating article in the WSJ about an archive of Quranic research that was thought lost for a long time, but has now been found, that shows that there were a lot of German nazis who'd been experts on Islam.

On the night of April 24, 1944, British air force bombers hammered a former Jesuit college here housing the Bavarian Academy of Science. The 16th-century building crumpled in the inferno. Among the treasures lost, later lamented Anton Spitaler, an Arabic scholar at the academy, was a unique photo archive of ancient manuscripts of the Quran.

The 450 rolls of film had been assembled before the war for a bold venture: a study of the evolution of the Quran, the text Muslims view as the verbatim transcript of God's word. The wartime destruction made the project "outright impossible," Mr. Spitaler wrote in the 1970s.

Mr. Spitaler was lying. The cache of photos survived, and he was sitting on it all along. The truth is only now dribbling out to scholars -- and a Quran research project buried for more than 60 years has risen from the grave.

"He pretended it disappeared. He wanted to be rid of it," says Angelika Neuwirth, a former pupil and protégée of the late Mr. Spitaler. Academics who worked with Mr. Spitaler, a powerful figure in postwar German scholarship who died in 2003, have been left guessing why he squirreled away the unusual trove for so long.

Ms. Neuwirth, a professor of Arabic studies at Berlin's Free University, now is overseeing a revival of the research. The project renews a grand tradition of German Quranic scholarship that was interrupted by the Third Reich. The Nazis purged Jewish experts on ancient Arabic texts and compelled Aryan colleagues to serve the war effort. Middle East scholars worked as intelligence officers, interrogators and linguists. Mr. Spitaler himself served, apparently as a translator, in the German-Arab Infantry Battalion 845, a unit of Arab volunteers to the Nazi cause, according to wartime records. [...]

The Munich archive began with one of Mr. Nöldeke's protégés, Gotthelf Bergsträsser. As Germany slid towards fascism early last century, he hunted down old copies of the Quran in the Middle East, North Africa and Europe. He took photographs of them with a Leica camera.

In 1933, a few months after Hitler became chancellor, Mr. Bergsträsser, an experienced climber, died in the Bavarian Alps. His body was never given an autopsy; rumors spread of suicide or foul play.

His work was taken up by Otto Pretzl, another German Arabist. He too set off with a Leica. In a 1934 journey to Morocco, he wangled his way into a royal library containing an old copy of the Quran and won over initially suspicious clerics, he said in a handwritten report about his trip.

The Nazis began to use Arabists early in the war when German forces began pushing into regions with large Muslim populations, first North Africa and then the Soviet Union. Scholars were used to broadcast propaganda and to help set up mullah schools for Muslims recruited into the German armed forces.

Mr. Pretzl, the manuscript collector, appears to have worked largely in military intelligence. He interrogated Arabic-speaking soldiers captured in the invasion of France, then, according to some accounts, set off on a mission to stir up an Arab uprising against British troops in Iraq. His plane crashed.

So now, we have some very intriguing evidence of connections between Nazism and Islam. Read the whole thing in full.

MORE ON THE FISHY VLAAMS BELANG PARTY

Charles Johnson at Little Green Footballs has more on the shady side of the Vlaams Belang and their worship or tolerance of nazism. Man, I am so NOT liking this political movement! Pure disgust. Charles also has links to a couple of past entries on the subject.

It's a shame that mainstream politicians in Belgium, Britain and Sweden are leaving the field and the problems with Islamic extremism open to all these potential neo-fascist movements to exploit. Thanks to the PC-madness that's even more prevalent there than in some other places, that's why those with more common sense might feel embarrassed and reluctant to take up the bold task of standing up to the Islamic threat Europe faces now, and offer alternatives who can stand strong in the face of the encroaching threat. It's to be hoped that, with Charles' help, a way can be found to solve the problems.

Amerikabomber: Manhattan in flames

Atlas links to Paul Belien, writing in the Washington Times:

Had Charles Martel not been victorious," Hitler told his inner crowd in August 1942, "then we should in all probability have been converted to Mohammedanism, that cult which glorifies the heroism and which opens up the seventh Heaven to the bold warrior alone. Then the Germanic races would have conquered the world." Hitler told Mr. Speer that Islam is "perfectly suited to the Germanic temperament."

...During the Second World War, the Nazis worked on plans to build the "Amerikabomber," an airplane specially devised to fly suicide missions into Manhattan's skyscrapers.

Albert Speer, the Nazi minister for armaments, recalled in his diary: "It was almost as if [Hitler] was in a delirium when he described to us how New York would go up in flames. He imagined how the skyscrapers would turn into huge blazing torches. How they would crumble while the reflection of the flames would light the skyline against the dark sky." Hitler hated Manhattan. It was, he said, "the center of world Jewry." Less than 60 years later, Hitler's plans were executed by Muslim immigrants living in Germany. At the 2003 trial of the network around Mohamed Atta (the pilot who flew into the World Trade Center), Shahid Nickels, a German convert to Islam and a friend of Atta's, said that the Islamists had targeted Manhattan because it is "the center of world Jewry, and the world of finance and commerce controlled by it."

The parallels between Nazism and Islamism are overwhelming. Yet the subject is a taboo. When last March the German historian Matthias Kuentzel, author of "Jihad and Jew-Hatred: Islamism, Nazism and the Roots of 9/11," was to give a lecture at the University of Leeds (Britain), the university authorities cancelled the lecture after threats from Muslim students...

Charles Martel de Steuben is best remembered for winning the Battle of Tours in 732, which has traditionally been characterized as an event that halted the Islamic expansionism in Europe that had conquered Iberia. "Charles's victory has often been regarded as decisive for world history, since it preserved western Europe from Muslim conquest."

WHY NEO-FASCIST MOVEMENTS IN EUROPE MAY HAVE MONOPOLY ON ISLAMIST ISSUE

I have followed some more about the worrisome rise of political parties with shady and questionable credentials such as the BNP, Vlaams Belang and Sweden Democrats on sites like Hot Air and Little Green Footballs, and there's more available here and here. And frankly, I can only conclude that these parties are no better than the Front National in France, which thankfully ran out of luck in the last parliamental election. But there's reasons why the three other political movements may rise to more power if someone doesn't start showing more common sense in Belgium, Sweden and the UK.

Because little to no influential politicians are willing to come forward and take up the issue of Islamic extremism in these specific countries in Europe, that's why many people could end up being driven to vote for these racists in disguise. And the BNP, Vlaams Belang and Sweden Democrats are likely to learn from Jean-MarieDhimmi Le Pen's mistakes and not cut deals with the Islamists the way he did, certainly not out in the open.

Nicholas Sarkozy did the right thing to take up the harder issues in France, because for awhile, Le Pen had been monopolizing the subjects. But in other European countries, it's less certain, and that's just one of the things that enables these potential neo-nazi groups in polished disguises to seize control of vital issues...and lay out the groundswork for disaster.

SOME GERMANS JUST HAVEN'T CHANGED

According to a recent poll in Germany (via Hot Air Headlines), 25 percent of Germans miss the "aspects" of nazi rule. And, despite what's implied here, I highly doubt the National Socialists had any real respect for mothers at the time, no matter what that sick talk show host was saying. (Plus, isn't Germany usually described as the "fatherland" in contrast to Russia's being the "motherland"?)

And anyone who tries to use that argument that "the trains all ran on time" ought to have their heads examined!

Update: Dr. Sanity (via Daled Amos) explains perfectly just what kind of "respect" the nazis had for motherhood, if they did. As does the History Learning Site, which explains how truly, any childbirth they advocated was in the ways of raising jihadists.

LEADER OF FINLAND'S ISLAMIC PARTY HAS NAZI PAST

Abdullah Tammi, the founder and spokesman for the Finnish Islamic Party, builds up my distaste for Socialists as well. He is a former member of the Finnish KDP, which in English translates as - you guessed it - National Socialists, aka nazis.

Reliapundit adds: Baathism is a form of socialism as is Nazism and Stalinism etc. They are all collectivist ideologies. Islamism shares a lot with socialism: it's also a coercive prescriptivist ideology - and utopianistic, too. All this deep commonality - and antipathy to the West ands Judeo-Christian Civilization is why the Left and the Jihadists are allies.

THE MUFTI, THE NAZIS, AND MODERN ISLAMISM

Bryan at Hot Air points to a video in German that talks about the connections of the Mufti and the Nazis during WW2.

As Bryan says, it's about:

The Grand Mufti of Jerusalem before and during the WWII years, Haj Amin El Husseini, a member of the Muslim Brotherhood (founded 1928) aligned with the German Nazis in 1937 and recruited Muslim SS units in Bosnia during the war.

And Yasir Arafat was a relative of Husseini's. This is a very recommended video documentary to see.

Nazi Porn In Hebrew

That's right. There is Nazi S&M porn in Hebrew. Written by Jews. In lurid comic book style.

Read under the table by a generation of pubescent Israelis, often the children of survivors, the Stalags were named for the World War II prisoner-of-war camps in which they were set. The books told perverse tales of captured American or British pilots being abused by sadistic female SS officers outfitted with whips and boots. The plot usually ended with the male protagonists taking revenge, by raping and killing their tormentors.

The most famous Stalag, “I Was Colonel Schultz’s Private Bitch,” was deemed to have crossed all the lines of acceptability, prompting the police to try to hunt every copy down.
