When I saw the photos of Meshal's recent visit to Gaza the first thing I thought was: "Gee...those are pretty nice suits those guys are wearing...who's their tailor?"
Wait a minute: Do they look like leaders of the worlds most downtrodden people? People who have suffered 60 years of occupation and apartheid? Actually they look like businessmen, or well dressed mafiosi...
And for the record: their subjects are not the worlds poorest. According to the Human Development Index, the Palestinian Territories are better off than Syria, Morocco, Honduras, South Africa (btw they did have apartheid!), Viet Nam, Cambodia, Indonesia, India, Pakistan. In fact the Palestinian Territories rank higher than 73 nations - and most of them are not at war with Israel.
