The Egyptian parliament convened for less than an hour Tuesday, in a gesture of defiance against the country's military rulers, who dissolved the legislature. The session was the first since parliament was dissolved by a court order about a month ago. The lawmakers met after President Mohamed Morsy, who took office on June 30, opted to override the edict of the military who have run the country since the 2011 revolution that ousted the longtime strongman Hosni Mubarak.
The session divided lawmakers. Abdul Salam Bashandy, a member of the president's Freedom and Justice Party, said it "filled a legislative vacuum in the country." But Fathi Desouki of the Egyptian Democratic Party saw it differently. "The president's decree created a crisis," he said. "We are witnessing a huge power struggle."STAY TUNED...THINGS WILL HEAT UP SOME MORE... AND IF PUSH COMES TO SHOVE WE WILL SEE THE MOBS TAKE TO THE STREETS AND MUCH BLOOD.
