I am not sure this amount to hypocrisy. With regard to the case of death tax: they want to seize assets one has accumulated...and that one has presumably already paid taxes on once. With regard to deficit spending they are spending citizenz assets a priori its seizure.
let me simplify:
they think it's bad to pass on personal assets (to one's own) but good to pass on collective debt (to everyone else).
according to the leftist intent to erase social differences ( and make us all poor!) passing on personal assets is unfair or at least perpetuates unfairness. As long as it is collective debt it must be for the common good - right?
the Left has a warped idea of "fairness":
taking away what a person earns to give to another person who did not earn it is unfair.
abe lincoln felt slavery was unfair because the slave could not keep the fruits of his labor.
socialism asserts the same thing.
and the death tax seeks to take it away and prevent one from sharing the fruits one has earned with people you CHOOSE to share it with and instead one is FORCED to share it with people THE STATE wants you to share it with - like the UAW and SOLYNDRA.
