Something like that might be going on here – with Southerners simply being more comfortable with the Speaker of the House from Georgia rather than the governor from Massachusetts, even though both claim to be conservative and have very little space between them in terms of policy proposals. NEWT HANDILY WON SC AND DID VERY WELL IN THE PANHANDLE OF FLORIDA - BOTH PLACES THAT BORDER ON HIS OLD HOMESTEAD, GEORGIA.
IN IOWA AND IN NH AND IN THE REST OF FLORIDA NEWT HAS DONE POORLY.
ON TOP OF THAT HE HAS A LOUSY NATIONAL ORGANIZATION AND IS A LOUSY MANAGER.
