QUESTION: HOW DOES RAISING TAXES ON PEOPLE RICHER THAN ME HELP ME!?!

I just don't get the basic premise of the left that the rich have to pay more taxes because they don't pay enough.

They already pay the most.

And if they paid a little more, what would that change? Not much. If the government took all the money away from all the rich people it would even balance the budget next year.

And how would it help me? I would take home more of what I earn. It wouldn't improve my life one bit.

So why do leftists make this appeal?

Because many people are envious and covet the property of people richer than they are. And many more are susceptible to envy and covetousness.

Envy and covetousness are sins.

And each person is entitled to keep the fruits of his own labor and not have it taken away. That's a basic human right - given to us by the Creator, not by government.

SO... What kind of people seek to make gains by seducing other people into sinfulness?

Evil people.

And what kind of people seek to use this collective power expand the coercive power of the state in order to take away even more of  the private property earned by other people?

Socialists.

Obama and his comrades are EVIL SOCIALISTS who exploit people's susceptibility to envy in order to take more property away from those who sweat for it so they can give it to their cronies.

This actually hurts me because it slows economic growth, and economic growth is probably the thing that can most help me earn more for myself.
