The Shimon HaTzaddik neighborhood in Jerusalem has received another boost towards regaining its Jewish status: The Jerusalem Municipality has approved the construction of 13 housing units for Jews there.Now, we're standing up and reclaiming our heritage, and slowly bringing back a much more welcome atmosphere to boot.
Two plans for the construction of two buildings near the ancient gravesite of Simon the Just were approved on Monday, and the Ministry of Interior will make the final decision as to whether to accept this “recommendation.”
Populated by many Jewish families before the War of Independence, the last remaining Jews of the neighborhood were banished by Arab violence and British “neutrality” in December 1947 and January 1948. The infamous Hadassah convoy massacre, implemented by murderous Arabs with the help of that same British “neutrality,” occurred just around the corner, killing 78. The Jewish-owned properties were populated by Jordanian Arabs following the War of Independence, and they continued living there even after the area was liberated, with the rest of Jerusalem, during the Six Day War in 1967.

While the news media continue its Egyptian-uprising coverage, most of the denizens of U.S. newsrooms are turning a blind eye to President Barack Obama’s connection to a key player in the Egyptian rebellion: the radical Islamic group known as the Muslim Brotherhood which co-sponsored last year’s disasterous “Gaza Aid Flotilla.”
While the world condemned the actions of the Israeli military, calls for an international body to investigate the Gaza flotilla raid by Israeli forces—in which nine “peace activists” were killed—were clouded by political posturing and vitriolic soundbites, according to some U.S. counterterrorism experts.
Even President Obama proposed an independent inquiry into the incident that triggered worldwide condemnation of Israel especially by members of the elite news media, but his proposal was quickly dropped as information came to light that certain individuals close to him and the Democrat Party were involved in the bloody incident.
Israel maintained a blockade around Gaza for quite sometime with the hope to preventing weapons such as missiles and rockets from being smuggled to the Palestinian terrorists. It was decided by a number of Islamists and radicals to take actions that would ultimately end the blockade.
The organizer of the blockade-busting action was a known radical group called Free Gaza. The “Free Gaza” flotilla was far more than a collection of innocent “peace activists” trying to provide humanitarian aid to Gaza, as they were portrayed by most news organizations.
Free Gaza sponsored the flotilla that engaged in deadly clashes with Israeli special forces troops and among its members were Weather Underground founders William Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn—who perpetrated a series of terrorist attacks—as well as Jodie Evans, the leader of the radical activist organization Code Pink. Besides the U.S. radicals, Islamic groups such as Hamas, Hezbollah and Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood contributed to the flotilla.
As is well-known in the United States, Ayers and Dohrn were close associates of President Obama for years in Chicago. Meanwhile, Jodie Evans was a fundraiser and financial bundler for Obama’s presidential campaign. In fact, one of Obama’s fundraisers was held in the home of Ayers and Dohrn.
Evans later worked on Attorney General Jerry Brown’s successful run for the governorship of California.
“Ayers’ and Dohrn’s continued activities appear to elude the attention of the people responsible for reporting the news without bias. They are terrorists, plain and simple, so why would anyone be surprised to discover their connection to an anti-Semitic organization that supports terror groups such as Hamas, Hezbollah, the Muslim Brother and even al-Qaeda?” asks former New York Police detective Michael Snopes.
The passengers reportedly included 100-plus members of various Muslim Brotherhood chapters, at least 20 of whom taped al Qaeda-style “martyr” videos before embarking on their anti-Israel mission, according to terrorist expert Steve Emerson, founder of The Investigative Project on Terrorism.
CLINTON IS NOW WARNING AGAINST HASTY EXIT BY MUBARAK
The New York Times says that Hilary Clinton is now warning against a rushed departure by Hosni Mubarak:
MUNICH — Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton warned on Sunday that removing President Hosni Mubarak of Egypt too hastily could threaten the country’s transition to democracy.So now, at least in theory, they're backing off their earlier stance that Mubarak should leave instantly, even at the risk of allowing the Muslim Brotherhood to take over. But they'll only really convince when they're willing to say the Brotherhood is a danger.
Her remarks were the Obama administration’s most explicit sign yet of its growing emphasis on averting instability in Egypt, even at the expense of the key demand from the Egyptian protest movement: Mr. Mubarak’s immediate removal.

Atlas Shrugs catches William Kristol following on the trail to wreckage Charles Krauthammer's taken, with a galling op-ed in the Weekly Standard where he denies the facts on the ground about Egypt. What an embarrassment the following is:
On top of all that, he's added himself to the list of dummies who've attacked Glenn Beck. Of course Beck isn't perfect (someday, I'll tell you how angry I am that he hosted a two-faced author named Brad Meltzer on his show, who scripted the misogynist screed spoken about in this article), but to say his concerns on the spread of Islamism have no weight is laughable in the extreme. Kristol has proudly ranked himself right down there alongside Krauthammer as another RINO whom the conservative movement will have to pan for his weakness, and distance themselves from before he really screws things up and then acts as though he's got no responsibility to take.
The United States has played a role in helping those transitions turn out (reasonably) well. America needn’t be passive or fretful or defensive. We can help foster one outcome over another. As Krauthammer puts it, “Elections will be held. The primary U.S. objective is to guide a transition period that gives secular democrats a chance.”Mr. Kristol, we all want freedom, and we are not siding with dictators, not even Mubarak. But to deny what's really at stake here - the horror story the Muslim Brotherhood will write if they take over - is to absolutely miss the boat. Most importantly besides that, those rioters are savage Islamofascists, and he pretends otherwise? I guess the Ayatollah's own minions were just "secular democrats" too, weren't they?
Now, people are more than entitled to their own opinions of how best to accomplish that democratic end. And it’s a sign of health that a political and intellectual movement does not respond to a complicated set of developments with one voice.
But hysteria is not a sign of health. When Glenn Beck rants about the caliphate taking over the Middle East from Morocco to the Philippines, and lists (invents?) the connections between caliphate-promoters and the American left, he brings to mind no one so much as Robert Welch and the John Birch Society. Why the Black Panther Case Matters
Attorney General Eric Holder and his minions, along with some of their slavish apologists in the media, are deliberately trafficking in lies of great note. They prevaricate with great enthusiasm, and they excuse lawlessness with fierce disdain.Read the rest here.
They -- both the Department of Justice (DOJ) officials and their leftist amanuenses pretending to be journalists -- brazenly ignore the public's right to information, and intentionally distract attention from relevant facts and from their own deep beliefs.
These conclusions arise from the accumulated weight of evidence in what should be a broadening scandal emanating from the infamous New Black Panther Party voter-intimidation case. Not that one would know it from the main pages or airtime of establishment-media outlets, but the Panther-related issue of race-based decision-making at DOJ reached crests last week on multiple fronts.
Deserving of howls of media outrage, but instead attracting barely a peep of protest, was the highly disturbing evidence of a major cover-up at DOJ, as discussed by both the Washington Times and the Heritage Foundation's Hans von Spakovsky. (Please do read both links for more information on those aspects of the scandal.)
Von Spakovsky makes an excellent argument that both internal investigative arms at DOJ are "protecting Obama's political appointees and disregarding their ethical and professional violations in the New Black Panther Party case."
THE EPA CLASSIFIES MILK AS OIL

...We all understand why the EPA was given the power to issue regulations to guard against oil spills, such as that of the Exxon Valdez in Alaska or the more recent BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. But not everyone understands that any power given to any bureaucracy for any purpose can be stretched far beyond that purpose.
In a classic example of this process, the EPA has decided that, since milk contains oil, it has the authority to force farmers to comply with new regulations to file "emergency management" plans to show how they will cope with spilled milk, how farmers will train "first responders" and build "containment facilities" if there is a flood of spilled milk.
Since there is no free lunch, all of this is going to cost the farmers both money and time that could be going into farming-- and is likely to end up costing consumers higher prices for farm products.
It is going to cost the taxpayers money as well, since the EPA is going to have to hire people to inspect farms, inspect farmers' reports and prosecute farmers who don't jump through all the right hoops in the right order. All of this will be "creating jobs," even if the tax money removed from the private sector correspondingly reduces the jobs that can be created there.
Does anyone seriously believe that any farmer is going to spill enough milk to compare with the Exxon Valdez oil spill or the BP oil spill?
Do you envision people fleeing their homes, as a flood of milk comes pouring down the mountainside, threatening to wipe out the village below?
It doesn't matter. Once the words are in the law, it makes no difference what the realities are. The bureaucracy has every incentive to stretch the meaning of those words, in order to expand its empire....

WHEN MICKEY MOUSE WENT TO EGYPT
The Comics Journal has an article that might be written by an Egyptian about Disney comics that were translated into Arabic for sales in Egypt, even going so far as to rewrite some of the character names and references in Arabic terms. I think what's really amusing here is that the writer, Nadim Damluji, actually calls Disney, of all companies, an imperialist! Does that mean they don't like Disney? "Imperialist" is something that's more what people like me could think: as told in Walt Disney: Hollywood's Dark Prince, the founder was anti-semitic, and based on that, if it hadn't been for Jewish businessmen taking over the company, I'd really look at them that way due to the founder's horrific background. Also, Disney's cartoons, as noted here, were among the few allowed into Germany, not unlike how Henry Ford was in good relations with those abominations, the making of possible anti-nazi Donald Duck cartoons notwithstanding. One can wonder if the same form of relations went for Disney/Egypt.

TEN REASONS WHY IT'S COMPLETELY REASONABLE TO DOUBT PRESIDENT OBAMA'S PARENTAGE AND SUSPECT HIS REAL FATHER IS FRANK MARSHALL DAVIS
Friends have asked me to summarize why I think Frank Marshall Davis is Obama's real father.
First off there's this: why did his mother go to Chicago to become an au pair for the summer of 1960 (we know this was when she went from a passage in Obama's memoir) - her family's first summer in Hawaii? Her family was from Kansas and Washington state - with no known connections to Chicago at all. Why would her parents allow her to go there. Certainly not to work for some unknown family in some unknown neighborhood.
FRANK MARSHALL DAVIS WAS FROM CHICAGO - AND DAVIS'S WHITE WIFE WAS FROM A RICH CHICAGO FAMILY.
Perhaps the Davises made the connection. While in Chicago, Davis was connected to the Jarrett's and the Ayers. Maybe young Stanley Ann Dunham even babysat for young Billy Ayers - he would have been about 10 or 11.
That would mean that the Dunham's and the Davis's were friends YEARS before the "official version" which claims that Davis was a poker playing buddy of the old man Stanley Dunham - but they're hardly birds of a feather - except for their left-wing politics.
Second: There's very suggestive evidence that Mr. and Mrs. Davis were VERY friendly with the young Stanley Ann Dunham - and by very I do mean SEXUALLY CLOSE: in his memoir, Frank Davis wrote, there's an episode in which he describes a three-some he and his wife had with a 14 year old white virgin named... ANN, of all things. Seems to me this could have very well been Stanley ANN Dunham in real life.
Third: Obama looks more like Frank Davis and Frank's son Mark Davis than he looks like Barack Senior or any member of the Obama clan - and I do mean clan - over there in Kenya. In my opinion, Obama Jr. has a family resemblance to the Davis's as much as to the Dunham's but none whatsoever to the Obama's in Kenya.
Fourth: Stanley Ann Dunham Obama Soetero decided to leave Barack Jr. in Hawaii and return alone to SE Asia. She left him with her parents and under the tutelage of Frank Davis - ostensibly to provide young Barry with a good black male role model. But perhaps the REAL reason she felt so secure about ABANDONING her son, was that she was depositing him with his real/biological father?
Fifth: As a teen, Obama wrote a poem - which was published at the time - about Frank Davis. Barry Obama Jr. titled his poem about Frank Davis "POP".
Sixth: Barack's first job was in Chicago. What's key here is that Obama Jr has told 2 different accounts of how he got this job (one in his book and another to a graduating class at Wesleyan), and the guy who hired him - Kellman - has 2 completely different takes on it (one he told a reporter and one he told at the nominating convention in Denver). THAT'S RIGHT: THERE ARE 4 VERSIONS FROM THE 2 PRINCIPAL PLAYERS. That's odd - unless they are lying; (it's easy to tell the same story over and over again when it's the truth and you've got nothing to hide). Kellman was a protege of Alinsky who was a Chicago comrade of Frank Marshall Davis. Obama and Kellman want to hide this fact, this connection.

Eighth: When Obama graduated from Harvard Law he didn't get a prestigious job at some big Boston or New York or Hawaii law firm or clerk with a big-time federal judge. He could have easily done any of those as the first black Harvard Law Review Editor. He chose instead to work for an extremely politically connected law firm in CHICAGO, of all places. A law firm that did work for REZKO and employed his future wife - the daughter of a CHICAGO MACHINE ALDERMAN. In the Chicago Machine, in order to GET IN THE DOOR, you first have to answer a question: "WHO SENT YOU?" You cannot get in unless someone with connections sent you. UPDATE: Valerie Jarrett worked at the law firm too - and Her father in law was a buddy of... FRANK DAVIS. (Her mom was pals with Tom Ayers = Bill Ayers father. OH: she was born in... Tehran.) Ninth: Neil Abercrombie is the new left-wing Governor of Hawaii. He PROMISED he would put all the "birther" lies to rest by releasing Obama's REAL BIRTH CERTIFICATE as soon as he became governor. Now, he is singing a different tune: he says he cannot release it unless Barack Junior allows it to be released - and Barack Junior is NOT allowing it to be released.
WHY WON'T BARACK JUNIOR RELEASE THE ACTUAL BIRTH CERTIFICATE? WHAT IS HE HIDING?
Tenth: Officials have seen the actual birth certificate and said that nothing in it DISQUALIFIES OBAMA FROM SERVING AS POTUS.
I believe them.
I think what Obama is hiding isn't something that disqualifies him from being POTUS, and that he is a USA citizen.
I believe he is hiding something politically EXPLOSIVE: the fact that his father is Frank Marshall Davis and that he has lived a mendacious charade his whole life and that he was raised and tutored and prepped for a career in politics by the most radical leftists and the most corrupt political machine in the country. They raised him and trained him and bankrolled him and they got him elected Senator and president and they run his White House via Rahm, the Daleys and Jarrett.

The Muslim Brotherhood is dismayed by the government’s decision to export gas to Israel at reduced prices at the time when Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) are committing daily massacres against the Palestinian people and the besieged Gaza strip.
The MB completely rejects this step which allows Israeli Settlers to benefit from Egypt’s resources. Therefore, we emphasize the following,
First: Egypt’s natural wealth is owned by all Egyptians either in the present or future. No one should be allowed to exploit our wealth according to his desires or for his private interests.
Second: Instead of providing Israeli settlers with low-price gas, the real prices of gas should have been used in solving the daily sufferings of the Egyptian people including the bread crisis, price hikes, education, and medical care.
Third: Protecting Egypt’s national security necessitates that the regime stops gas supplies to the IOF which were complicit in the killing of innocent Palestinians and burying our war prisoners alive in 1956, 1967, and 1973 wars. The IOF still threaten our national security through possessing mass destructive weapons.
Fourth: What has been declared in the People’s Assembly by the regime is blatant disrespect of people’s minds. If an Egyptian company has signed a contract to export gas to the Israel, this can easily be corrected through immediately ending the contract without any alleged violation of international treaties or laws.
Fifth: Joint Arab Defense Treaty obligates the Egyptian government to export surplus gas to Palestine to be used in supplying power and fuel necessary for Palestinian lives especially that they suffer from a deadly siege and continuous aggression by Israeli Occupation Forces.
Based on the above, the MB calls upon all national forces as well as the Egyptian people to declare their discontent and refusal of such a flagrant decision. We also call on parliamentarians to move swiftly and effectively towards the cancellation of this contract (if there’s any), stop the gas supply to the IOF, and export it instead to other countries at standard world prices. This will save billions of dollars to be added to the state’s general budget to solve some of the citizen’s chronic problems.

Dispute With Lebanon Could Be IgnitedThe next flashpoint in the Middle East could be the gas fields off Israel's Mediterranean coast, where the discovery of large cashes of natural gas is raising hopes that Israel could soon become energy-self-sufficient but where a dispute with Lebanon could be ignited.
The Iran-influenced Beirut government is threatening to defend its maritime “rights” and is complaining about Israel’s explorations. Lebanon’s appeals for international intervention begun last summer, immediately after Israel’s off shore gas explorations showed signs of positive results. Now that years of exploration have yielded what some energy experts estimate to be the world’s largest deepwater gas discovery in a decade, Beirut is raising the tone of its demands.
Lebanon’s foreign minister, Ali Shami, in a letter to Secretary General Ban, demanded the United Nations assure that “Israel does not exploit Lebanon’s marine and oil wealth, which lies within its exclusive economic zone.” Last June a Shiite politician with ties to Hezbollah, Nabih Berri, speaker of the parliament at Beirut, asserted that Israel’s newly-discovered gas was actually found in Lebanon’s territorial waters.
The United Nations is to date unwilling to intervene, but today it added to the confusion by saying Israel “unilaterally” delineated its maritime border with Lebanon.

JIMMY CARTER SUED OVER HIS PRO-TERROR LIES
The Washington Post (via Moonbattery) reports that the awful Jimmy Carter is being sued by 5 people over the screeds he published in his latest garbage book:
More than four years after its publication, five disgruntled readers have filed a class-action lawsuit against President Jimmy Carter and his publisher, Simon & Schuster, alleging that his 2006 book "Palestine Peace Not Apartheid" contained "numerous false and knowingly misleading statements intended to promote the author's agenda of anti-Israel propaganda and to deceive the reading public instead of presenting accurate information as advertised."Simon & Shuster were once a very decent publisher. But if I'm correct, they were later bought by a German business, and have plummeted badly.
The five plaintiffs named in the lawsuit are seeking at least $5 million in compensation. The hard cover edition cost $27.
The suit accuses Carter and his publisher of violating New York consumer protection laws because they engaged in "deceptive acts in the course of conducting business" and alleges that they sought enrichment by promoting the book "as a work of non-fiction."
In a press release, one of the attorneys, Nitsana Darshan-Leitner stated: "The lawsuit will expose all the falsehoods and misrepresentations in Carter's book and prove that his hatred of Israel has led him to commit this fraud on the public. He is entitled to his opinions but deceptions and lies have no place in works of history."And Carter fully deserves to get slapped with this lawsuit. I hope it's successful. In fact, many conservatives should be suing liberals who write slanderous lies like what Carter's written against them.

Italian based writer Fiamma Nirenstein has said that Obama shouldn't be trying to influence Egypt's current situation, or act as though he understands anything about it:
US president Obama should stop making a mess in the Middle East and changing his position twice in two days around the most serious situation facing world peace—the future of Egypt. He should stop using Absolute Good as his point of reference, instead of the good of his country and of the rest of the world which, behind the US, believes in freedom, free market, monogamy and rights of women. What does he think he’s playing with? I think it's time for the conservative movement to stop relying on someone as cynical as Krauthammer for observations on the state of the world. He is no help in the war against Islamofascism, and if he slandered Wilders, then the Dutchman should seriously consider suing him in court, which would decidedly be a big help in dealing with RINOs.
Despite his apparent conservative credentials, Krauthammer had already become somewhat problematic after his stunning denunciation of the intrepid Geert Wilders at National Review Online. This is a great enigma since, extrapolating from his earlier track record as a sober and insightful observer of the world’s combustible transactions, Krauthammer might have been expected to give the Dutch parliamentarian his seal of approval. But to slander Wilders — a vigorous critic of political correctness, a courageous defender of democratic rights, and a man dedicated to resisting the Islamic cannibalizing of Western civilization — as “extreme, radical and wrong” is clearly beyond the pale. So gratuitous a condemnation seems especially mean-spirited when one recalls that Wilders is living under an Islamic death fatwa for speaking his mind. The stigma lies more with the American journalist than the Dutch politician.Kudos to Solway for citing these horrific hypocritical tactics Krauthammer has engaged in, which has often made me feel truly disgusted with him. Krauthammer has also implied he doesn't want people like me to live in east Jerusalem, and Caroline Glick rightly took him to task for that too. In that case, is he really worth turning to for worthy commentary? His job at the Washington Post, a left-liberal newspaper, should give a clue how he's merely symbolic.
And when Krauthammer proceeds to dismiss “Islamism” as merely “an ideology of a small minority,” he loses credibility, revealing a state of denial more plausibly associated with America’s coastal elites, public intellectuals, academic limpets, and media dilettantes like Paul Krugman, Peter Beinart, Thomas Friedman, David Remnick et al. Andrew Bostom takes Krauthammer roundly to task for his “fundamental ignorance of mainstream, classical Islamic Law” and for his “uninformed, incoherent musings on Geert Wilders and Islam.” Diana West, too, in The Death of the Grown-Up, castigates Krauthammer for going “all mushy on us,” passing off as “Islamist” what is plainly part of “Islam as a whole, as a historical continuum, as the theology of what we know as terrorism, as a rationale for dhimmi repression.” How someone as presumably knowledgeable as Krauthammer could become on this matter a charter member of the middlebrow illiterati is troubling.

He clearly leans toward the conservative standpoint on the major questions of foreign policy and the Constitution; yet on social issues such as abortion, energy taxes, and stealth jihad he seems sympathetic to the liberal perspective. True, he opposes the Cordoba mosque project as a violation of “hallowed ground”; on the other hand, as we have seen, he trashes Wilders who has spoken passionately against the Cordoba mosque. What gives? The same man who came out strongly in Israel’s defense during the 2006 “Lebanon War,” backed by the conservative right, also supported Ariel Sharon’s disastrous “disengagement” from Gaza in 2005, which was naturally encouraged by the liberal-left.
I think it's time for the conservative movement to stop relying on someone as cynical as Krauthammer for observations on the state of the world. He is no help in the war against Islamofascism, and if he slandered Wilders, then the Dutchman should seriously consider suing him in court, which would decidedly be a big help in dealing with RINOs.

Then, it publishes nonsense which survives because it is protected from the withering critique it deserves. And even people who should know better are just losing it.He may be right. "Neo-cons" are probably the nadir of the conservative movement, and are going to need a lesson in how to convey their arguments better.
Consider one example (Roger Cohen has gone beyond ridicule so let's focus on someone who should know better). I regret criticizing Robert Kagan of the Brookings Institution as he is one of the smarter, saner people.
Yet the kinds of things he is quoted as saying in the New York Times remind me of why the "neo-conservatives" have been so dangerous because of their naivete about the Middle East. Notwithstanding the meltdown in Egypt, Esther Brimmer, Assistant Secretary of State for the Bureau of International Organization Affairs picked Tuesday to give her evidence for the success of the Obama foreign policy of engagement with the U.N. and its human rights world.
At a speech to the Brookings Institution she said: “Since the United States joined the Human Rights Council, it has not held a single special session on Israel.” Except that the U.S. took its seat on the Council September 14, 2009, and the Council held its sixth special session on Israel on October 15-16, 2009. It was a rather unforgettable session, actually, since it was the occasion the Council endorsed the notorious Goldstone report.
It is a mystery why the person in charge of international organizations in this country has no clue what the actual record is of the Council, but here is a short synopsis for her edification:
There have been twelve country-specific special sessions of the Human Rights Council in its history. Half of them have been directed at Israel alone. Half of all the resolutions and decisions of the Human Rights Council critical of a specific states’ human rights record have been about Israel alone, and half on the rest of the world. There are ten permanent agenda items of the Council which govern all of its business. One of those items is only about condemning Israel and one is about any other “human rights situation that requires the Council’s attention” elsewhere on the planet. Ten countries were once subject to a specific human rights investigation, but the Council discontinued them for the likes of Belarus, Cuba, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Guinea, Iran, Kyrgyzstan, Liberia, Maldives, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.
