IF OBAMA AND THE LEFT REALLY WANTED TO HELP THE POOR, THEY THEY'D ALLOW MORE DRILLING AND STRIP-MINING, NOT LESS

The surest quickest and best way to help poor people is to lower their food costs and energy costs.

For poor people, filling their cars with gas, and their fridges with food takes a larger chunk of their earnings than for rich people.

Want poor people to have more money left over each week and a better standard of living?

Then just lower the cost of food and energy.

Raising taxes on the Rich, and sending the revenue to DC would NOT help poor people much - if at all. It would help government unions and bureaucrats, but not the poor. Not directly and not quickly.

AND LOWERING THE PRICE OF FOOD AND ENERGY IS EASY TO DO. AND IT COLD BE DONE QUICKLY, TOO!

The world consumed the same amount of oil last year as in 2005, but oil is twice as expensive - despite there being more proven oil reserves now than in 2005!

WHY? Well, one reason is that oil is seen as a hedge, a commodity hedge against inflation like gold and other commodities. And FED policies will create more inflation.

Another reason is that many oil sources are threatened by political tensions. And Iran and Russia like when this happens and may even be stirring things up a bit to exploit it.

Another reason is that OPEC like when oil prices are high and they've been a pretty effective CARTEL and able to keep prices high.

Well I think Obama and the left could change this.

First by cutting federal spending and the federal deficit and the federal debt. This would allow the FED to IMMEDIATELY stop printing too damn much money and this would substantially end the threat of inflation.

Second, by allowing more oil-drilling in the USA WHEREVER private companies want to drill: from the coast of California to the Gulf Coast to the east coast to ANWR and anywhere else in Alaska.

Third, BY allowing more coal mining and strip-mining of coal. Coal is where most of our electricity comes from. If we can lower the cost of electricity, then we lower costs for poor people and businesses and the prices of goods those businesses make.

These policy changes would IMMEDIATELY lower oil and coal prices. ALL ENERGY prices would come down.

This would lower food costs by reducing the manufacturing coasts and the price of fertilizer and transportation. And it would lower the cost of all manufactured goods, too

WHO WOULD BENEFIT THE MOST FROM THIS?

POOR PEOPLE.

If Obama and the Left cared more about poor people than their cronies in the ethanol business and at GE and ADM and CARGIL and government unions, then they'd quit the policies which make energy and food so damn expensive.

But Obama and the Left care more about their cronies and imposing a "green & red utopia" than they do poor people.

I wish all you bleeding heart libs out there would wake the eff up and realize how the policies you're supporting are actually hurting the people you wanna help.

IF YOU REALLY WANT TO MAKE POVERTY HISTORY, THEN YOU REALLY HAVE TO MAKE LEFTIST POLICIES HISTORY.

[ASIDE: HERE'S ANOTHER IDEA:

Simultaneous to OPENING UP THE ENTIRE USA TO OIL-DRILLING, we should put a 10% surcharge on every barrel of oil bought from OPEC - put this revenue into the Highway Trust Fund, and then reduce the gasoline tax by the same projected dollar amount - thus making it a revenue neutral change which shifts the burden to OPEC (and only OPEC) and away from the gas pump. Gasoline companies that source from non-OPEC resources might benefit either by increasing market share by having lower prices, or higher profits. Either way it's a win-win-win.
