BRRRRRR! COLDEST WINTER IN 30 YEARS TO LAST UNTIL APRIL

FOSTER'S:
The outlook for the rest of the winter isn't looking good for those already tired of the cold and snow.

AccuWeather.com Chief Long Range Forecaster Joe Bastardi predicts cold weather will continue to dominate at least through mid-February across much of the eastern two-thirds of the country. He also said "wintry events" could last into April, longer than last year's season.

Based on what is predicted for the rest of the season, Bastardi also says that this winter could end up being the coldest for the nation as a whole since the 1980s.

Bastardi also predicts more persistent colder-than-normal temperatures and a lack of brief warm spells typical to most winters. Temperatures since Dec. 1 have averaged below normal from Boston to Miami and as far west as Minneapolis.
IOW: AGW = TFBS.

In the 1960s and 1970s, a late Easter meant a cold winter -- and often a winter with lots of ice and freezing rain.

Easter is late this year.
