When the Pope convened a meeting with Catholic bishops in the Middle East, the Coptic Patriarch of Alexandria, Egypt, Antonios Naguib started the proceedings with a blast at Israel!
Even though the synod was called to discuss the flight of Christians from muslim-occupied lands, the bishops decided to attack Israel. In particular, the new pledge that Israel will require of new citizens: a pledge of loyalty to a Jewish and democratic state. It was this that upset the patriarch.
What has this got to do with the Catholic bishops? The Israeli authorities are quite happy for them to have their little disagreements amongst each other at the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem. Rabbis don't complain about Catholics taking an oath of allegiance when they become new citizens of the USA!
All this seems to be a strange way of discussing how to help fellow Christians who are being murdered and raped daily by followers of the "religion of peace", and work out why they are leaving muslim countries. (...) Why are they having this meeting now? Why not years ago, because this is not a new phenomenon?
