Israeli demographics point towards ...... what? Sorry. Israel is dominated by Russian and other Eastern Europen immigrants, the political spectrum is around 50 per cent run by parties with ultra-orthodox, nationalist and violent pro-settler parties and the other 50 per cent is dominated by the far-right Likud. Even the Arab nations near by are not dominated by radicals like Israel is and that is why Israel has lost the victim status that it had, that is why the US and other western nations are starting to distance itself from it and that is why Jews are in fact leaving Israel for more safer places, ironically including Morocco, Tunisia and Turkey.
Israel needs a huge change, it needs to elminate its own radicalism, it needs to protect its secular system that is under threat, it needs to stop giving in to old-world views and deal with being part of the international community that it has avoided by using the victim and we-stand-alone chip on its collective shoulder.
Accept the two country policy, even embrace it, become an active member of the middle-east and open its doors to trade and stability and Israel will get its recognition - but most certainly at the same time, whilst pulling its troops out of Palestinian territories - warn that attacks on its real territory will always be swiftly defended - that is the only right that Israel has. If it does that, it signs the NPT and allows international inspections - like it demands on other nations constantly - then no nation, not even Iran will be able to hold its head up high whilst criticising Israel - that is what Israel needs and it is the only way it will face off threats - by taking the moral high road, not stooping to the level of the countries it condemns.
