THE DESCENT OF TURKEY CONTINUES

A SUMMARY OF TODAY'S "ISLAMIZATION OF TURKEY NEWS":
  • CONTINUES ATTACKS ON THE ARMY IN BID TO END SECULARISM.
  • OPENLY VOWS TO SIDE WITH HAMAS AGAINST ISRAEL.
  • WANTS THE RIGHT TO PEACEFULLY INVADE AND COLONIZE EUROPE...
  • SO TURKISH WOMEN CAN OPENLY WEAR THE HIJAB IN SCHOOL - CONTRARY TO FRENCH LAW
IN CONTINUING EFFORT TO END SECULARISM, MORE MILITARY LEADERS ARRESTED:
Turkish police have detained eight retired army officers, including four generals, as part of an investigation into an alleged plot by elements of the fiercely secular military seeking to topple the Islamic-rooted government, the state news agency said Monday.

Police confirmed the crackdown but would not say how many people had been detained. The Anatolia agency said without citing sources that police staged raids in 14 cities Monday. Private NTV television, citing unidentified judicial officials, said prosecutors had ordered the detention of 95 suspects, mostly active-duty officers.

TURKEY WILL NOT SAND BY IF GAZA AND ISRAEL GO TO WAR:

Erdogan: 'We will not stand by if Israel attacks Gaza';

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan warned Israel against responding to rocket attacks from the Gaza strip.

In an interview with the Turkish TV station TRT Erdogan said that Turkey will not stand idly by if Israel carries out another campaign inside the Gaza Strip.

YET ERDOGAN IS OFF TO PARIS:

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan is due to arrive in the French capital tomorrow for an official two-day visit where he will discuss with French officials the prospects of Turkey's joining the European Union (EU).

Erdogan will meet French President Nicolas Sarkozy and Prime Minister Francois Fillon, the French foreign ministry said in a statement Monday.

The statement noted that Erdogan's last visit to the country was in July, 2008, adding that the Turkish premier will also meet French Senate President Gerard Larcher and executives of some leading French companies at the French Businessmen's Association (MEDEF).

The statement said the Turkish premier's visit comes amid exceptional bilateral relations which will be bolstered on the political, economic, and cultural fields.

During the meetings, the two sides will also delve into Turkey's EU membership, including international issues, among the peace process in the Middle East, Iran's nuclear program, and developments in Afghanistan...

THE ONLY THING NUTTIER THAN ERDOGAN ASKING TO BE IN THE EU IS THE EU ACTUALLY THINKING ABOUT IT.

WHAT TURKS IN EUROPE LOOK LIKE:

Turkish students enjoy university in Bosnia's Sarajevo / PHOTO

About 1,000 Turkish students have left home to attend university in Bosnia, attracted by the low cost of living, good food and -- for women

About 1,000 Turkish students have left home to attend university in Bosnia, attracted by the low cost of living, good food and -- for women -- the right to wear an Islamic headscarf.

IF EUROPE WANTS MORE HIJABS THEN IT SHOULD BY ALL MEANS ADMIT TURKEY AS A MEMBER.

TURKEY IS MORE SUPPORTIVE OF IRAN THAN OF EUROPE.

I THINK TURKEY SHOULD BE THROWN OUT OF NATO.
