LEBANON INDICTS A DOZEN AL QAEDA TERRORISTS - (WERE THEY INVOLVED IN THE ETHIOPIAN AIRLINER CRASH?)

WSJ:

A Lebanese military prosecutor on Wednesday indicted 11 suspected militants, including the alleged leader of an al Qaeda-inspired organization, with plotting terrorist attacks and monitoring U.N. peacekeeper movements, judicial officials said.

Military prosecutor Samih Hajj charged the men with forming an "armed gang," planning bombings against civilian targets and undermining the state, the judicial officials said. The suspects were also charged with trailing Lebanese forces and U.N. peacekeepers in southern Lebanon, as well as forging Lebanese passports and Palestinian refugees documents, they said.

Mr. Hajj requested the death penalty for the men, the officials said, speaking on condition of anonymity because they weren't authorized to release the information. Six of the suspects are in custody, but five are still at large, including Fatah Islam's alleged leader, Abdel-Ghani Jawhar, the officials said.

AL ARABIYA:

Fatah al-Islam fought deadly battles against the Lebanese army in the summer of 2007 in the Palestinian refugee camp of Nahr al-Bared near Tripoli.

The fighting killed 400 people, including 168 soldiers, and displaced some 30,000 refugees from the camp, which was leveled in the fighting won by the Lebanese army.

UPDATE: COULD THE NEW SWABBING ROUTINE AT USA AIRPORTS HAVE TO DO WITH THIS ETHIOPIAN "CRASH" AND THE EARLIER AIR FRANCE "CRASH"?(BOTH WERE BLAMED ON THE WEATHER.
