AGW = BS: BETTLES, ALASKA SETTING COLD RECORDS

Alaska's coldest spot, Bettles is setting records

FAIRBANKS -- It's been bitter cold in Bettles, 200 miles north of Fairbanks.

The village in the foothills of the Brooks Range recorded a new record low temperature of 47 degrees below zero on Saturday.

It was the fifth day in a row a new record low was set in the town, and the sixth day in a row that the temperature was more than 40 below zero.

KOLKATA: The Alipore Met office recorded the coldest November 22 in seven years, with the minimum temperature plummeting to a chilly 15.2 degrees Celsius on Sunday morning, two degrees below normal. According to weather department officials, the next few days will see the temperature dropping further.

The next lowest temperature over the past seven years was recorded on November 22, 2003, when Alipore recorded 16 degrees Celsius.
