THE ECONOMY IS ON VERY VERY SHAKY GROUND - AND OBAMA ISN'T HELPING ONE BIT

The housing market and stocks may be looking up, but Americans just can't shake their job worries.In a sign that talk of an economic recovery has yet to soothe a recession-battered nation, consumer confidence fell in October and came in well below what analysts were expecting.

For stores, the reading is reason to worry that holiday sales might be even worse than they feared.

In a separate reading, the Conference Board reported shoppers' sentiments about the state of the economy are the gloomiest in nearly three decades. Americans reported they plan to cut back on spending, in large part because they don't trust the job market.

• OBAMA'S LIBERAL POLICIES HAVE BEEN A MISERABLE FAILURE.

• THAT WAS TO BE EXPECTED; LIBERAL POLICIES SUCK; THEY DON'T WORK; REAGAN AND THATCHER PROVED HAYEK AND FRIEDMAN WERE RIGHT AND MARX WRONG.

• WHAT HAS BEEN A REAL SURPRISING DISAPPOINTMENT TO ALMOST EVERYONE IS HOW PISS AWFUL OBAMA HAS BEEN AS A MOTIVATOR AND COMMUNICATOR.

• HIS CHARM WAS A GREAT ASSET ON THE CAMPAIGN TRAIL - FOR TWO YEARS. HE SAID "YES WE CAN" AND A MAJORITY OF PEOPLE BELIEVED HIM.

• YES: THEY WERE DUPED.

• BUT HE WAS THE DUPER - AND A CHARMING ONE: WITH HIS GREAT SMILE, HIS TALL FRAME, HIS DEEP WARM BARITONE; HE CAME OFF AS A MAN WITH AN EASY CONFIDENCE ABOUT HIM.

• WELL THAT SCHTICK IS ALL GONE AND MORE PEOPLE SEE HIM - AND HIS POLICIES - FOR WHAT THEY ARE: WARMED OVER 1960'S LIBERAL BS.

• AND EVERYDAY MORE AND MORE PEOPLE ARE DIS-ENTHRALLED.

AND THIS GROWING LACK OF CONFIDENCE IN OBAMA - AND THE LACK OF GOOD RESULTS ON THE ECONOMIC FRONT AND THE CRAPPY EMPLOYMENT FIGURES - IS MAKING MOST PEOPLE SAVE MORE SPEND LESS AND WORRY A LOT.

IF THIS CONTINUES THROUGH CHRISTMAS WE ARE GOING TO DOUBLE DIP AND IT'S GOING TO BE VERY VERY UGLY...

THE STATS IN THE ABOVE ARTICLE SCARE THE CRAP OUTTA ME.

THAT AND THE WEAK DOLLAR DO NOT BODE WELL...

THERE'S A SILVER LINING: THE USA WILL ELECT A GOP CONGRESS IN 2010, FOR SURE IF THERE'S A DOUBLE-DIP.
