PALIN AND THE TEA PARTIES: THE ASTUTE BLOGGERS SCOOPS INSTAPUNDIT

Eight+ hours after we posted on PALIN AND THE TEA PARTIES, Glenn Reynolds has one of his longest posts EVAH on the same subject - PALIN and the TEA PARTY movement, only Glenn attacked the subject from a different angle: that Palin might co-opt the Tea Party movement and make it a Third Party.

WE DISAGREE.

We think she will galvanize the movement and make it an influential libertarian wing of the GOP.

I think The Tea Party will replace the GOP.

I have believed that FROM LONG BEFORE "TEA PARTIES" BECAME DE RIGUER.

The first person to theorize this was Pim's Ghost, former Iba blogger, and now complete idiot.

I wouldn't mind seeing the old elephant die, as long as it's replaced by a more viable alternative that will actually draw and listen to the people.

My concern now is that if Palin does not sue Moore, the fallout over the resignation will be nothing in comparison. The state-run TV media will use failure to sue as proof of what Moore has said all along: Palin doesn't want a day in court because it'll bring out all her alleged corruption. You'll hear it everywhere, and it'll cause Palin's supporters to wonder if the rumors really were true after all. She'll quickly lose lots of them - including me, sad to say.

I don't see that Palin has a choice here. If the law really is on her side, she HAS to sue Moore AND win in court - not settle outside court, but bury Moore publicly and the rumors with her. Nothing short of that will exonerate Palin. Otherwise, she's done for good.
