BREAKING: OBAMA OKS IRAN'S NUKES

READ IT HERE AND WEEP, AMERICA, WEEP
Obama hours before with the BBC:
On Iran, Obama said he hoped to see progress by the end of the year, through "tough, direct diplomacy". WHATEVER THAT MEANS.

But he said, rather than imposing its values on other countries, the US should act as a role model. AS OPPOSED TO ISLAM IMPOSING AND TERRORIZING US WITH THE JIHAD.

In addition, speaking to BBC North America Editor Justin Webb, Mr Obama said he believed the US was "going to be able to get serious negotiations back on track" between Israel and the Palestinians. WAIT FOR IT...

"Not only is it in the interest of the Palestinian people to have a state, it's in the interest of the Israeli people to stabilise the situation there," Obama said. BECAUSE IT'S YOUR FAULT ISRAEL.

"And it's in the interest of the United States that we've got two states living side by side in peace and security."

Asked about Israel's rejection of his call for a halt to Jewish settlements in the West Bank, the president urged patience, saying it was early in the conversation.

"Diplomacy is always a matter of a long hard slog. It's never a matter of quick results," he said.

However, Mr Obama said he had not needed convincing by Israel of the need to address Iran's programme of nuclear development.

"What I have said is that it is in the world's interests for Iran to set aside ambitions for a nuclear weapon," he said, and the best way for that to be accomplished was "through tough direct diplomacy".

"Although I don't want to put artificial timetables on that process, we do want to make sure that, by the end of this year, we've actually seen a serious process move forward".
IT'S MOVING FORWARD ALRIGHT.

*******UPDATE: Reliapundit adds:

I SUSPECT OBAMA AND HATE HIS APPEASEMENT AS MUCH AS THE NEXT GUY BUT THIS POLICY IS NOT VERY DIFFERENT THAN BUSH'S. HERE'S WHAT BUSH SAID IN 2008 AT THE SABAN FORUM:

America recognized that the most effective way to persuade Iran to renounce its nuclear weapons ambitions was to have partners at our side, so we supported an international effort led by our allies in Europe. This diplomacy yielded an encouraging result, when Iran agreed to suspend its uranium enrichment. Unfortunately, after the election of President Ahmadinejad, Iran reversed course and announced it would begin enriching again. Since then, we have imposed tough sanctions and supported multiple U.N. resolutions. We and our partners have offered Iran diplomatic and economic incentives to suspend enrichment, and we have promised to support a peaceful civilian nuclear power program.
REPEAT: we have promised to support a peaceful civilian nuclear power program.

SO WHAT OBAMA IS SAYING IS NOT NEW.

BUSH WAS MUCH DOVIER AND LESS HAWKISH THAN THE LEFT GAVE HIM CREDIT FOR: WE FOUGHT TORA-BORA AND IN IRAQ IN A HALF-ASSED WAY AND "NEGOTIATED" FOR YEARS WITH THE NORKS AND THE IRANIANS - ALLOWING THEM BOTH TO GO NUCLEAR.

OBAMA IS WAY TO THE LEFT OF BUSH, BUT BUSH WAS A CENTRIST: SOFT ON IRAN AND THE NORKS AND ON ILLEGAL ALIENS AND SO ON.

BUSH AND OBAMA SOULD BOTH BE FAULTED FOR THEIR IRAN POLICIES.

I think he's enabling Iran to go nuke. Peaceful I don't think so. There is nothing peaceful about Iran and all that oil and American hatred.

Whether he realizes it or not, Obama has just decided that Israel WILL be bombing the crap out of Iran. Israel simply has no other choice - Iran has made its goal of a Juden-frei Mideast very clear. When someone says he's going to kill you, you don't sit around while he takes out an unloaded gun, and proceeds to take out a box of ammo with which to load it. Congratulations, Barry, you just lit the fuse to a general Mideast War, one that will potentially kill millions, and which will certainly jack oil up past $200/bbl. - it is just a matter of time (and not too much, at that).
