A 25 year old Norwegian bartender at Cafe Rust in Copenhagen was struck in the head by 2 glasses hurled by a disgruntled customer. Andreas Bull-Gundersen went to the emergency room at Rigshospitalet. Below is the ensuing conversation according to friends who accompanied him:
- Han er bløder.
"He's a bleeder."
- Nej, han bløder ikke noget særligt, skulle den kvindelige sygeplejerske have sagt.
"No, he's not bleeding so much." replied the nurse.
- Nej, han er hæmofil, forsøgte vennerne sig igen.
"No, he's a hemophilliac." says his friend.
- Jamen er han homofil, så har han ikke brug for behandling, fastslog Rigshospitalets medarbejder.
"Oh, so he is a homophil, he doesn't need treatment for that."
Anders went home and died the next day of a brain hemorrhage. Had Anders sought help at a private health facility, they would have gladly examined him - maybe even done a MRI scan if he was well insured! And Anders would probably be alive today.
