They were responsible for killing a senior American diplomat in Jordan, Laurence Foley, weren't they?. The NYT postulated so back in 2002.
And I'm not going to look it up, but haven't we heard about Iraqi judges being assassinated? And also some of their newly elected officials, if my memory serves.
The NYT is either nuts or they have a whole staff that doesn't know how to search their own archives, fittingly called the "newspaper morgue."
