The storm that brought several inches of snow to northern areas of Mississippi departed early Saturday, leaving to partly cloudy skies and a promise of warming temperatures.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol said ice had been reported on roads and bridges in north Mississippi counties Friday night, but those conditions were expected to improve rapidly as temperatures climbed out of the 20s.
Eric Carpenter with the National Weather Service in Jackson, said 5 to 7 inches of snow blanketed areas from Cleveland northward to Memphis.
In northeastern counties, amounts of 3 inches or less were reported, including 2½ inches at Tupelo, 3 inches at Corinth an inch at Amory.
