... the UN Secretary General condemned Israel's "excessive and disproportionate" use of force. ...
The UN Security Council met to discuss the escalation of violence in Gaza and consider a Libyan draft resolution that would condemn Israel for killing Palestinian civilians.
But he also condemned Palestinian rocket attacks against southern Israel.
While the meeting was being held, there were reports that an Israeli air strike in Gaza City had destroyed the empty offices of Hamas leader Ismail Haniya.
The council was expected to hear speeches from the Palestinian UN observer and envoys from Israel, several Arab League states and a number of Security Council members.
- CONDEMNING BOTH SIDES EQUALLY IS NOT TAKING THE HIGH ROAD;
- IT IS MAKING A FALSE MORAL EQUIVALENCE:
- ISRAEL WITHDREW FROM GAZA THREE YEARS AGO;
- HAMAS HAS NEVER CEASED ATTACKING ISRAEL WITH ROCKETS.
- THESE ATTACKS HAVE STEADILY ESCALATED IN FREQUENCY, RANGE, AND FIREPOWER.
- THESE ATTACKS ARE WRONG AND INSTIGATE A RESPONSE.
- THE RESPONSE IS NOT WRONG, BUT MORALLY AND MILITARILY NECESSARY.
- THOSE WHO EQUATE THE ACTS OF HAMAS AGGRESSION WITH THE ACTS OF ISRAELI SELF-DEFENSE AND RETALIATION ARE IMMORAL SCUM.

Pardon me if I am mistaken, but I would swear the whole point of war is to use disproportionate force until your enemy is subdued.
Have I got it wrong?
