Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Tuesday that Democrats won't approve more money for the Iraq war this year unless President Bush agrees to begin bringing troops home.
By the end of the week, the House and Senate planned to vote on a $50 billion measure for operations in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The bill would require Bush to initiate troop withdrawals immediately with the goal of ending combat by December 2008.
If Bush vetoes the bill, ''then the president won't get his $50 billion,'' Reid, D-Nev., told reporters at a Capitol Hill news conference.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., made a similar statement last week in a closed-door caucus meeting.
- THIS WOULD BE LIKE SPEAKER SAM RAYBURN TELLING FDR HE HAD TO WITHDRAW FROM EUROPE IN 1944!
- AND WE STILL HAVE TROOPS THERE!
Sheesh.
And it's obvious we've won, now.
It makes no sense.
The ONLY explanation is that they WANT us to lose. To make Bush look bad and improve their standings in the polls.
THEY ARE SCUM.

If the war in Iraq turns out to be a success for America, then George Bush and the republicans will get the credit, since up to this point they've gotten all the blame. When and if that happens, it will turn the tide strongly in the republicans favor. The democrats CANNOT let that happen. Fortunately for them, the press will be more than happy to comply.
Post election, expect a number of articles on how much better things are suddenly going in Iraq.
this is the absolute funniest thing i have ever read. or the saddest, but i am hoping it was funny.
