HILLARY CLINTON will unveil her new retirement-security plan today, and I'm told that much of it is based on the thoughts of Gene Sperling. I certainly hope so, as there's a lot worse advice out there -- and, as I've said, the Clinton economic team in the 1990s was good. [UMPH ADDED.]
THE CLINTON ECONOMIC RECORD SUCKS:
THE IDEA THAT CLINTON'S TWO TERMS WERE EXCEPTIONALLY GOOD ECONOMICALLY IS OVERSTATED - PART OF THE IRRATIONAL EXUBERANCE OF THE ERA.
THE FACT IS: Social Security is bad for the working poor. It keeps the working poor .... POOR and on government handouts posing as a stipend. And when the recipient dies.... the balance goes to the GOVERNMENT, not the heirs.
PRIVATIZING Social Security would be a HUGE BENEFIT to the working poor. It would allow them to build nest eggs (because if instead of the social security tax going to DC it would be going into a private fund which they could leave to their children). I think by doing this type of privatization of retirement benefits we could end poverty in the USA in three generations. END IT.
You END poverty by making poor people RICH, not by keeping them on government support - as Hillary and the Left desire.

- THERE WERE BUBBA'S BUBBLE'S - WHICH BURST ON HIS WATCH.
- THERE WERE RAMPANT EXECUTIVE MALFEASANCE WHICH WENT COMPLETELY UNCHECKED - UNTIL BUSH CAME IN AND HAD TO CLEAN HOUSE.
- ALSO ON HIS WATCH: HIGHER TAXES - UNTIL NEWT TOOK OVER.

- MOST CAME BECAUSE THE FED KEPT LOWERING RATES. RATES WHICH THEY HAD BEEN RAISING - FOR NO DAMN GOOD REASON - FROM 2004 UNTIL JUST RECENTLY.
- THE FED - AND NOT THE WHITE HOUSE - IS THE CAPTAIN OF THE ECONOMY, AND EVEN THE FED OFTEN OPERATES AS IF THEY'RE USING AN OAR ON AN OCEAN-LINER.
