BUSH, THE DALAI LAMA, GERE AND HOLLYWOOD

NYPOST:
Gere said the "heartfelt involvement of the president" was obvious when Bush, along with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), awarded the Dalai Lama the honor.

"I have to give him credit," Gere said, referring to Bush.

Pointing to the fight against AIDS and on behalf of Tibet, Gere said of Bush, "He's been an extraordinary friend on both issues."

Bush praised the Dalai Lama as a "universal symbol of peace and tolerance, a shepherd of the faithful and a keeper of the flame for his people."

"Americans cannot look to the plight of the religiously oppressed and close our eyes or turn away," Bush said in the Capitol Rotunda before awarding the Dalai Lama his medal.

Asked whether the president's efforts were helpful to his cause, the Dalai Lama told The Post, "Certainly."

In his own remarks, the Dalai Lama praised Bush for his "firm stand on religious freedom and democracy."
You won't see this reported in any other MSM outlet; in fact, the entire Left ignores ALL of Bush's liberal efforts: it interferes with their Bushitler fantasies. He raised spending on education, on Medicare and Medicaid, and reduced taxes on the poor and middle class.

It would be nice if more of the Lefties in Hollywood acknowledged that Bush has been LIGHT YEARS better than Clinton on AIDS in Africa and Tibet - two of their favorite causes.

They are not constitutionally able to do so because it would mean they'd have to humanize the Right.
