HAGEL QUITS - GOOD RIDDANCE
The Senator from France is packing it in. GOOD!
Let's compare this to the Lieberman situation.
In that situation, the Left NUTROOTS forced a primary contest between Lieberman and Lamont, and Lamont won the primary. But, Lieberman - THE HAWK - stayed in the race and won the election as an independent.
In this case, Hagel is so sure he's gonna get whacked by the RIGHT ROOTS (and has no chance in the general election), that he won't even stand for re-election.
NOW TELL ME, PLEASE: WHICH PART OF THE BLOGOSPHERE IS MORE POWERFUL?!
This also proves that Hawks DO have good electoral strength, and should NOT be so worried.
The claim that anti-war feelings of the electorate gave the Congress to the Dems is a lie.
It was Foleygate, Abramoff and Maccacca. And pork.
BTW: one of the nicest things about Chuckie Hagel splitting the Senate is that we no longer have to hear him referred to as "a leading member of the GOP" on Meet the Press .

I'm still celebrating the departure of Sen.
Hagel. Thank you , Jesus! He quit because he couldn't win a Republican primary in Nebraska and knew it. He dooomed himself by his plans for defeat in Iraq and amnesty for illegals, nasty badmouthing of President Bush and the Republican Party and excessive praise for Mayor Bloomberg.
