Under the Snowe-Bayh bill, General Petraeus would have to report on progress toward the benchmarks 120 days after the bill's enactment. The Government Accountability Office would then assess Iraqi progress. If any the Iraqis failed to meet any one of the milestones, Petraeus would then have to submit a plan to withdraw most troops, excluding those for force protection, counter insurgency, and support and training of Iraqi forces.ER UM... SOMEBODY TELL THESE TWO IDIOTS THAT IF YOU ONLY KEEP THE US FORCES IN IRAQ WHO ARE THERE FOR "FORCE PROTECTION, COUNTER-INSURGENCY, AND SUPPORT AND TRAINING" THAT YOU ARE GOING BACK TO THE PRE-SURGE TROOP LEVELS AND "THE RUMSFELD STRATEGY", AND KEEPING 80% OF THE TROOPS THERE.
WHY DO THIS WHEN BY ALL ACCOUNTS THE SURGE IS WORKING!?!?
IT MAKES NO SENSE.
WE SHOULD BE CRANKING UP OUR KINETIC ATTACKS ON THE ENEMY, NOT OUR BS ATTACKS ON OUR ALLIES!
