A top US diplomat met Tuesday with Palestinian Finance Minister Salam Fayaad, the first American contact with a member of the new Palestinian government, Palestinian officials said. The meeting signaled a break in policy between Israel and the US, its closest ally. Israel has announced a boycott of the new Hamas-Fatah coalition because of the coalition's failure to accept international calls to renounce violence and explicitly recognize the Jewish state's right to exist. This is a day after Hamas signaled that they were going back to terrorism in their attempts to wipe out the Jewish state. If you're a anti-Israel terrorist, you can be as insane and anti-Semitic as you want. If you just outright refuse to even consider compromise, the world will eventually just sigh and accept your genocidal goal as a legitimate starting point for negotiation. And then you can blame Israel for not negotiating and giving you a chance - even though you admit outright that you'll never accept Israel and openly boast that past concessions have only strengthened your military position.
