The Left says that we are running out of oil, so we must switch to alternative energy sources - and should enact regulations and new taxes to speed the transition.
THIS IS FALSE. It's based on the false idea that ALL oil is a result of fossils. There is more and more evidence that oil - and other hydrocarbons like methane and natural gas - is a geothermal product continuously made by the earth's core; that a lot of oil is ABIOTIC. In fact, now there is evidence that there are HUMONGOUS lakes of hydrocarbons on Titan - a moon of Saturn, where there were never any dinosaurs.
Besides, as the price per barrel goes up, vast reserves which were previously not economically recoverable become profitable to extract. Like getting oil from coal. In fact; there are billions - if not TRILLIONS - of more barrels of reserves today than decades ago MORE OIL, not less. We have enough oil to last at least 150 years - maybe 1000!
The Left says that burning oil has dramatically increased CO2 levels in the atmosphere and that this is causing global temperatures to rise.
THIS IS FALSE, TOO. Most CO2 is natural - it comes from plants, trees and the ocean; human contribution is relatively small, and ice cores prove that CO2 is a lagging indicator of global-warming and NOT the cause; it lags by 800 years over the last million. (Watch THE GREAT GLOBAL WARMING SWINDLE for evidence. WTWT!)
The Left says we are too dependent on Middle East oil. THIS IS FALSE , TOO. We get more from Canada and Mexico and Venezuela than OPEC (excluding Venezuela) and the Persian Gulf.
