DANIEL PIPES succinctly lays out three options for Europe and Islam: either Muslims take over; Muslims leave; or Muslims are integrated and assimilated in Western culture. He writes:
FIRST PERHAPS AS A LARGE POLITICAL BLOC THAT IS APPEASED, THEN INVITED INTO GOVERNMENT - THEN AS THE POLITICAL PLURALITY WHICH GRADUALLY TAKES OVER TRANSFORMS THE LEGAL AND GOVERNMENTAL AND RELIGIOUS INSTITUTIONS.
THIS WILL HAVE WITHIN 40 YEARS. AND YES: NOTRE DAME WILL BECOME A MOSQUE.
UNLESS THEY START FIGHTING BACK AND START HAVING CHILDREN RAISED AS EUROPEAN EUROPEANS.
Which will it be? The decisive events that will resolve this question have yet to take place, so one cannot yet make the call. Decision-time is fast approaching, however. Within the next decade or so, today's flux will end, the Europe-Islam equation will harden, and the continent's future course should become apparent.IF EUROPE CONTINUES TO APPEASE THE JIHADISTS, THEN I PREDICT EUROPE WILL BE TAKEN OVER BY ISLAM.
Correctly anticipating that course is the more difficult for being historically unprecedented. No large territory has ever shifted from one civilization to another by virtue of a collapsed population, faith, and identity; nor has a people risen on so grand a scale to reclaim its patrimony. The novelty and magnitude of Europe's predicament make it difficult to understand, tempting to overlook, and nearly impossible to predict. Europe marches us all into terra incognita.

Unfortunately, the future of Europe is a return to the walled city-state, run by cobbled together groups of old-line nationalists, most times with a racist bent.
I'm full of doom and gloom, aren't I?
